Abstract:In order to support naive users to use on-line analytical processing(OLAP) tools,this work proposed a native feature of the dimension and its attributes for the multidimensional model of data warehouse based OLAP query method,which combined OLAP and search engine-alike methods.The method firstly created column based full-text index for dimension tables,secondly generated hit groups in terms of the keywords provided by the user,then constructed a candidate result set by joining these hit groups,and finally presented the ranked results to the user.Based on the features that a user cared much more about the aggregated data and the imbalance of the dimensions and their attributes,irrelative attributes and repeated column values were filtered in proposed method to relieve the negative effects on the ranking results.A weighted coefficient,named dimensional level coefficient(DLC) was also introduced to the text ranking arithmetic.Experiments were conducted on the FoodMart and AdventureWorks provided by Microsoft SQL Server to confirm how these factors influenced the hitting rate.The results indicated that the proposed method achieved a higher hitting rate than the keyword-driven analytical processing(KDAP) methods for the first candidate.

Abstract:On-line analytical processing (OLAP) has become a very useful tool in decision support systems built on data warehouses. Relational OLAP (ROLAP) and multidimensional OLAP (MOLAP) are two popular approaches for building OLAP systems. These two approaches have very different performance characteristics: MOLAP has good query performance but bad space efficiency, while ROLAP can be built on mature RDBMS technology but it needs sizable indices to support it. Many data warehouses contain many small clustered multidimensional data (dense regions), with sparse points scattered around in the rest of the space. For these databases, we propose that the dense regions be located and separated from the sparse points. The dense regions can subsequently be represented by small MOLAPs, while the sparse points are put in a ROLAP table. Thus the MOLAP and ROLAP approaches can be integrated in one structure to build a high performance and space efficient dense-region-based data cube. In this paper, we define the dense region location problem as an optimization problem and develop a chunk scanning algorithm to compute dense regions. We prove a lower bound on the accuracy of the dense regions computed. Also, we analyze the sensitivity of the accuracy on user inputs. Finally, extensive experiments are performed to study the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract:The electric power marketing DSS based on the online transaction processing for traditional database tends to fail to meet the requirement of modern power utilities. In recent years the data warehousing technique has been advancing vigorously, and a new decision support system based on data warehousing has become a major area for the study of DSS today. The paper has built up a framework for electric power marketing decision support system, based on the DSS theory and data warehousing, integrating the features of electric power industry. Therefore, an electric power marketing analytical and decision model is created, and a complete solution for the electric power marketing decision system is accomplished incorporating data warehousing products from COGNOS Corp. Abstract:The integration of a Data Warehouse and a Decision Support System (DSS) can provide construction managers with sufficient information for decision making without interrupting daily work of an On-Line Transaction Processing system. In this paper, the concepts of the data warehouse, On-Line Analysis Processing and DSS are first reviewed. The method of creating a data warehouse is then shown, changing the data in the data warehouse into a multidimensional data cube and integrating the data warehouse with a DSS. An application example is given to illustrate the use of the Construction Management Decision Support System developed in this study. This prototype system can enable the right data to be tracked down and provides the required information in a direct, rapid and meaningful way. Construction managers can view data from various perspectives with significantly reduced query time, thus making decisions more efficiently. Moreover, the approach can be applied to other fields.

Abstract:As a result of geographical location and management model, large-scale clothing corporations have expressed their requirements for distributed data management and multi-hierarchy decision support. Based on large-scale clothing corporations, the paper proposes a model of distributed data warehouse for sales decision support system in clothing industry, and illustrates some key techniques in designing data warehouse. Abstract:How to provide construction managers with information about and insight into the existing data, so as to make decision more efficiently without interrupting the daily work of an On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) system is a problem during the construction management process. To solve this problem, the integration of a data warehouse and a Decision Support System (DSS) seems to be efficient. ‘Data warehouse’ technology is a new database discipline, which has not yet been applied to construction management. Hence, it is worthwhile to experiment in this particular field in order to gauge the full scope of its capability. First reviewed in this paper are the concepts of the data warehouse, On-Line Analysis Processing (OLAP) and DSS. The method of creating a data warehouse is then shown, changing the data in the data warehouse into a multidimensional data cube and integrating the data warehouse with a DSS. Finally, an application example is given to illustrate the use of the Construction Management Decision Support System (CMDSS) developed in this study. Integration of a data warehouse and a DSS enable the right data to be tracked down and provide the required information in a direct, rapid and meaningful way. Construction managers can view data from various perspectives with significantly reduced query time, thus making decisions faster and more comprehensive. The applications of a data warehousing integrated with a DSS in construction management practice are seen to have considerable potential.

Abstract:Along with violent increase of business operation data capacity,traditional logistics decision support system(LDSS) is hard to meet with the corporation requirement.To solve this problem,the frame of LDSS for multimodal transportation based on data warehouse(DW) was put forward by combining the characteristics of DWwith the requirements of decision support system.The frame of the proposed system consists of three layers,foundation layer composed of model base system and database system,processing layer composed of database warehouse,and application layer composed of on-line analytical process(OLAP),expert system and data mining.This system can be applied for quantitative and qualitative logistics decision-making support.It provides effective measures to realize harmonious operation of logistics system and to strengthen the effectiveness for logistics enterprises decision-making.

Abstract:Anew aided decision support system (DSS) based on data warehouses is discussed. It is composed of data warehouses, on-line analysis processing, and data mining, which is new in the field of DSS. The essential principle, the setting up of the model, the development environment, the main system interface, and a sketch of the theory framework of the new DSS architecture are also described. The decision support system was applied to data abstraction for evaluating ship form scenarios. Tests have shown it to be practical and dependable in complex systems, such as in the demonstration of ship forms.
