Abstract:This article utilizes data from eight surveys of national samples of college graduates conducted by the Institute of Economics of Education at Peking University in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017 to conduct a trend analysis on employment status and job-seeking status among graduates, summarizing 12 overarching employment characteristics and changing trends for graduates since the expansion of admissions at institutions of higher education in China, and proposing corresponding policy recommendations.

Abstract:Since China has begun expanding college enrollment, a continuously-increasing number of university graduates are entering the job market. By the year 2013, the number of college graduates had reached a record 6.99 million. However, due to the fact that China's economic growth was slowing down, the demand for college graduates in the labor market was not increasing proportionately. The year 2013 was also known as "the hardest year for job hunting". The Institute of Educational Economics of Peking University conducted a survey on the employment situation of college graduates nationwide in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, and 2011, then, in 2013, conducted its sixth large-scale survey on the same topic. Presented in this paper are the results of a statistical analysis of the basic employment status and job status of college graduates in 2013.

Abstract:: The employment quality of college graduates is a recent topic of heated discussion in China. Given the differences in the talent development goals of academic and vocational institutions and in individual job search approaches, this research compares the differences between the job search approaches and actual employment outcomes of graduates of undergraduate and vocational institutions, and analyzes the correspondence of vocational graduates' job search approaches with their job search outcomes to identify the effect of higher vocational education on employment. Using the proposed methods, this study finds a significant gap in job search approaches between the two types of graduates and that higher vocational education significantly affects employment approaches and outcomes. The job search approaches of vocational graduates also influence their employment outcomes. The study concludes that the employment quality of vocational graduates is not necessarily worse than that of four-year undergraduates.

Abstract::In recent years, the employment of college graduates has become a focus of higher education policy and research in China. This article analyzes data from the National College Graduate Survey conducted by Peking University between 2003 and 2009, and examines the trends and factors influencing the path chosen by college graduates. Results show that (1) due to intensified competition in the job market and the impact of the 2009 financial crisis, graduates make diverse choices, with an increasing proportion entering graduate school and nontraditional employment; (2) over one quarter of graduates are unemployed, with increased likelihood of unemployment attributed to gender, low socioeconomic status, rural origin, and insufficient educational and capital accumulation; and (3) employment choices are influenced by multiple factors, including individual differences, intitution attended, the job market, and the macro socioeconomic environment.

Abstract:Employment is the foundation of people's livelihood, and youth employment is the top priority in employment. It is another graduation season for college students. After graduation, college students choose between "employment" and "continue further study". The employment of college students has always been a hot issue of social concern. In 2022, Chinese college graduates broke through the 10 million mark for the first time, setting a new record high. According to the current employment situation of college students, taking college students in Shandong, China as an example, this paper analyzes the main problems in the graduation planning and employment of college students, and puts forward countermeasures to improve the employment rate of college students from different levels. In order to alleviate the employment anxiety of college students, carry out employment guidance in colleges and universities, and establish the correct employment concept of college students. Career selection provides help and reference.

Abstract:Based on employment pressure, this paper studies the impacts on college graduates, to find the source of employment pressure and propose measures suitable for college students to solve the employment pressure. The research mainly adopts the questionnaire survey method. The subjects are some students of Shandong Technology and Business University. Through the form of partial sampling questionnaires, the source and impact of employment pressure are found. The research found that most students face serious employment pressure psychology, but the employment pressure has not only passive effects but also some positive effects. Unequal ability and self-mentality are significant reasons for college students' difficulty in choosing jobs and employment pressure. To change this situation, the top priority is to change the employment concept of college students. Establishing a correct concept of job selection can effectively solve this problem, at the same time, promote full employment in various industries. It is also expected that this thesis can play a definite reference value to the current employment pressure situation.

Abstract:Based on nation-wide survey data of 2009,and using the methods of descriptive statistical analysis,stochastic frontier analysis,and ordered probit analysis,this paper presents an empirical study on the efficiency of job search of college graduates.The empirical results show that acquiring job information from institutions of higher education, individual social network and the internet,targeting jobs that match the education, and increasing job-search intensity may increase the employment probability and find jobs with better pay and higher satisfaction level.

Abstract:The main purpose of this study is to understand the current situation and problems of college students' employability, analyze their influencing factors, and propose corresponding strategies to enhance their employability from the perspective of college students, in order to achieve the ultimate goal of helping college students improve their employability. This study adopts quantitative research methods such as literature review, questionnaire survey, and statistical analysis to study the content of the article. The research subjects are students and graduates from nine major universities in Conghua District, Guangzhou. This article mainly collects data through SoJump's online distribution of survey questionnaires. Through statistical analysis of the survey data, we understand the current situation of college students' employability, compare it with their training goals, and identify gaps and problems. Based on the research results of the employment ability model in the industry, combined with the training goals of professional talents, and referring to the employment standards and competency model of a large group enterprise for fresh graduates, a college student employment ability evaluation scale was constructed. The sample data was analyzed and processed using SPSS and structural equation modeling. As a supplementary study, this study has made significant contributions to the study of the impact of college students' employability, and has pioneered the use of structural equation models to verify the above hypotheses, filling the gap in many such studies that have not been validated using structural equation models.

Abstract:Based on analysis of four surveys conducted during the time period of 2003-2009, this paper examines basic characters and changes in college student employment trends under new circumstances triggered by the current global financial crisis. The data shows that the crisis has negatively influenced the growth of student employment and has aggravated the already serious imbalance of supply and demand in the Chinese job market for university graduates. Shifts in economic growth structures caused by the financial crisis have decreased demands in the job market for university graduates. Although Chinese government carried out a series of reforms aimed at promoting employment for university graduates, their individual preferences about work options and tendencies of choosing location have not been noticeably changed. This is due to the significant imbalance of socioeconomic development among geographical regions, urban and rural regions, as well as labour market segmentation.

Abstract:In the context of rapid economic and social changes in China in recent years, the relation between higher education and employment has become an increasingly critical issue. The rapid expansion of the graduate flow into the job market has deteriorate employment conditions for the new graduates. This article explores current state and problems of employment conditions for the graduates from the private higher education sector, who are faced with more serious employment challenges. Can they survive the intense competitions? What is their employment choice mechanism? Is there a niche job market for them, and if yes what are its characteristics? This article examine these questions based on the data collected from a questionnaire survey “Survey of Graduates in the Post-secondary Education”, which was conducted in June 2003, with the sampling size of 1624 students from Zhejiang, Fijian, Shanghai, Liaoning.

Abstract:In recent years, promoting high-quality employment for graduates of higher vocational colleges and universities has become one of the hot issues that all walks of life are highly concerned about. Employment satisfaction is one of the important indicators to measure the employment quality of graduates of higher vocational colleges and universities, and improving employment satisfaction is a necessary way to ensure the employment quality of graduates of higher vocational colleges and universities. The employment satisfaction of graduates from higher vocational colleges is related to the salary and treatment, the rate of professional matching, the perfection of school employment guidance and the employment expectation of graduates from higher vocational colleges. By analyzing the current situation of employment satisfaction of graduates of higher vocational colleges and universities, we can draw the employment problems they are facing and put forward corresponding countermeasures to improve the employment competitiveness and employment satisfaction of graduates of higher vocational colleges and universities.
