Relationship between the single nucleotide polymorphism of GFAT2 and type 2 diabetic mellitus in Han people of Shandong

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between the single nucleotide polymorphism of GFPT2 and type 2 diabetic mellitus(T2DM) in Han people of Shandong.Methods Peripheral blood DNA in subjects from T2DM group and control group was extracted and polymerase chain reaction(PCR)was performed.Results The allele gene of SNP7 in the 14th extron of GFPT2 gene was C/T,the allele T frequency in T2DM group was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.01).Conclusions The allele gene T of GFPT2 may be the major susceptibility gene of T2DM of Han people in Shandong.
