Abstract:Letting f be a transcendental meromorphic function, we consider the value distribution of the differential polynomials φfl(f(k))n−a, where φ(¬≡0) is a small function of f, l(≥2), n(≥1), k(≥1) are integers and a is a non-zero constant, and obtain an important inequality concerning the reduced counting function of φfl(f(k))n−a. Our results improve and generalize the results obtained by Xu and Ye, Karmakar and Sahoo, Chakraborty et.al, and Chen and Huang.

Abstract:Assuming that A(z)=B1(z)eP(z)+B2(z)eρp(z)+Q(z) , where B1(z),B2(z),p(z) are nonzero polynomials, ρ∈(0,1) , and Q(z) is an entire function of order less than deg⁡p , we study the oscillation of solutions of the linear differential equation f(k)+A(z)f=0 . Some conditions on A(z) are given to guarantee that any non-trivial solution f satisfies λ(f)=∞ or λ(f)≥σ(A) , where σ(f) and λ(f) denote respectively the order of f and the exponent of convergence of zeros of f . We also find some types of linear differential equations with zero-free solutions.

Abstract:We study the copolynomials of $n$ variables, i.e. $K$-linear mappings from the ring of polynomials $K[x_1,...,x_n]$ into the commutative ring $K$. We prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for a linear differential equation of infinite order which can be considered as an algebraic version of the classical Malgrange-Ehrenpreis theorem for the existence of the fundamental solution of a linear differential operator with constant coefficients. We find the fundamental solutions of linear differential operators of infinite order and show that the unique solution of the corresponding inhomogeneous equation can be represented as a convolution of the fundamental solution of this operator and the right-hand side. We also prove the existence and uniqueness theorem of the Cauchy problem for some linear differential equations in the module of formal power series with copolynomial coefficients.

Abstract:We describe a new form of diagonalization for linear two point constant coefficient differential operators with arbitrary linear boundary conditions. Although the diagonalization is in a weaker sense than that usually employed to solve initial boundary value problems (IBVP), we show that it is sufficient to solve IBVP whose spatial parts are described by such operators. We argue that the method described may be viewed as a reimplementation of the Fokas transform method for linear evolution equations on the finite interval. The results are extended to multipoint and interface operators, including operators defined on networks of finite intervals, in which the coefficients of the differential operator may vary between subintervals, and arbitrary interface and boundary conditions may be imposed; differential operators with piecewise constant coefficients are thus included. Both homogeneous and inhomogeneous problems are solved.

Abstract:The notion of lacunary infinite numerical sequence is introduced. It is shown that for an arbitrary linear difference operator L with coefficients belonging to the set R of infinite numerical sequences, a criterion (i.e., a necessary and sufficient condition) for the infinite dimensionality of its space $V_L$ of solutions belonging to R is the presence of a lacunary sequence in $V_L$.

Abstract:In this manuscript, we deal with some particular type of homogeneous first order linear systems with variable coefficients, in which we provide qualitative properties of the solution. When the coefficients of the indeterminate functions are periodic with the same period, $T$, we obtain a simple method so as to obtain the Floquet coefficients. We give a new interpretation of the averages on the interval $(0,T)$ of the matrix of the coefficients. We discuss some examples and made some comparison with previous results.

Abstract:In this paper, a definition of the fundamental operator for the linear autonomous functional differential equation with infinite delay in a Banach space is given, and some sufficient and necessary conditions of the fundamental operator being exponentially stable in abstract phase spaces which satisfy some suitable hypotheses are obtained. Moreover, we discuss the relation between the exponential asymptotic stability of the zero solution of nonlinear functional differential equation with infinite delay in a Banach space and the exponential stability of the solution semigroup of the corresponding linear equation, and find that the exponential stability problem of the zero solution for the nonlinear equation can be discussed only in the exponentially fading memory phase space.

Abstract:We consider kernels of discrete convolution operators or, equivalently, homogeneous solutions of partial difference operators and show that these solutions always have to be exponential polynomials. The respective polynomial space in connected directly though somewhat intricately to the multiplicity of the common zeros of certain multivariate polynomials, a concept introduced by Gröbner in the description of kernels of partial differential operators with constant coefficients. These results can are then used to determine the kernels of stationary subdivision operators as well.

Abstract:In this paper, the asymptotics of the spectral data (eigenvalues and weight numbers) are obtained for the higher-order differential operators with distribution coefficients and separated boundary conditions. Additionally, we consider the case when, for the two boundary value problems, some coefficients of the differential expressions and of the boundary conditions coincide. We estimate the difference of their spectral data in this case. Although the asymptotic behaviour of spectral data is well-studied for differential operators with regular (integrable) coefficients, to the best of the author's knowledge, there were no results in this direction for the higher-order differential operators with distribution coefficients (generalized functions) in a general form. The technique of this paper relies on the recently obtained regularization and the Birkhoff-type solutions for differential operators with distribution coefficients. Our results have applications to the theory of inverse spectral problems as well as a separate significance.

Abstract:For a given real polynomial $p$ we study the possible number of real roots of a differential polynomial $H_{\varkappa}[p](x) = \varkappa\left(p'(x)\right)^2-p(x)p''(x), \varkappa \in \mathbb{R}.$ In the special case when all real zeros of the polynomial $p$ are simple, and all roots of its derivative $p'$ are real and simple, the distribution of zeros of $H_{\varkappa}[p]$ is completely described for each real $\varkappa.$ We also provide counterexamples to two Boris Shapiro's conjectures about the number of zeros of the function $H_{\frac{n-1}{n}}[p].$

On Solutions of Systems of Differential Equations on Half-Line with Summable Coefficients

Abstract:We consider a system of differential equations and obtain its solutions with exponential asymptotics and analyticity with respect to the spectral parameter. Solutions of such type have importance in studying spectral properties of differential operators. Here, we consider the system of first-order differential equations on a half-line with summable coefficients, containing a nonlinear dependence on the spectral parameter. We obtain fundamental systems of solutions with analyticity in certain sectors, in which it is possible to apply the method of successive approximations. We also construct non-fundamental systems of solutions with analyticity in a large sector, including two previously considered neighboring sectors. The obtained results admit applications in studying inverse spectral problems for the higher-order differential operators with distribution coefficients.

Abstract:We characterize the condition $(\Omega)$ for smooth kernels of partial differential operators in terms of the existence of shifted fundamental solutions satisfying certain properties. The conditions $(P\Omega)$ and $(P\overline{\overline{\Omega}})$ for distributional kernels are characterized in a similar way. By lifting theorems for Fréchet spaces and (PLS)-spaces, this provides characterizations of the problem of parameter dependence for smooth and distributional solutions of differential equations by shifted fundamental solutions. As an application, we give a new proof of the fact that the space $\{ f \in \mathscr{E}(X) \, | \, P(D)f = 0\}$ satisfies $(\Omega)$ for any differential operator $P(D)$ and any open convex set $X \subseteq \mathbb{R}^d$.

Abstract:We obtain approximation results for general positive linear operators satisfying mild conditions, when acting on discontinuous functions and absolutely continuous functions having discontinuous derivatives. The upper bounds, given in terms of a local first modulus of continuity, are best possible, in the sense that we can construct particular sequences of operators attaining them. When applied to functions of bounded variation or absolutely continuous functions having derivatives of bounded variation, these upper bounds are better and simpler to compute than the usual total variation bounds. The particular case of the Bernstein polynomials is thoroughly discussed. We use a probabilistic approach based on representations of such operators in terms of expectations of random variables.

Local solvability and stability of an inverse spectral problem for higher-order differential operators

Abstract:In this paper, we for the first time prove local solvability and stability of an inverse spectral problem for higher-order ($n > 3$) differential operators with distribution coefficients. The inverse problem consists in the recovery of differential equation coefficients from $(n-1)$ spectra and the corresponding weight numbers. The proof method is constructive. It is based on the reduction of the nonlinear inverse problem to a linear equation in the Banach space of bounded infinite sequences. We prove that, under a small perturbation of the spectral data, the main equation remains uniquely solvable. Furthermore, we estimate the differences of the coefficients in the corresponding functional spaces.

Abstract:This paper deals with the Mittag-Leffler polynomials (MLP) by extracting their essence which consists of real polynomials with fine properties. They are orthogonal on the real line instead of the imaginary axes for MLP. Beside recurrence relations and zeros, we will point to the closed form of its Fourier transform.
