Abstract:•A relevant impact in the anti-tumor therapeutic strategies is due by the reciprocal interactions between cancer cells and host immune system. The polymorphisms involving repair genes could be responsible for the variability of response to chemotherapy.•Predictive biomarkers will be clinically used to stratified patients to detect whom will be able to respond to therapy.•Angiogenesis still the most promising and attractive target for drug therapy, but novel genetic and immunity markers are arising.
