Abstract:Morphology regulation and electronic structure modulation are very important means to improve the photocatalytic H2 evolution of metal-free graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) photocatalyst. Herein, we constructed a multiple ordered porous honeycombed structure of g-C3N4 via one-step chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method with co-pyrolysis of melamine and glucose, in which the carbon ring (Cr) in-plane seamless splicing into g-C3N4 lattice network (denoted as Cr-PHCN). The as-prepared Cr-PHCN exhibits periodically honeycombed structure with ~ 300 nm in inner diameter and ~ 20 nm in wall thickness. The multi-dimensional honeycombed architecture concomitant advantages of enhanced light harvesting ability, abundant active sites and shorter electron transport paths. Simultaneously, in-plane seamless splicing triazine@Cr extends π-conjugated systems, which contributes to narrow band gap, improve electrical conductivity and prohibit electron-hole recombination rate. Accordingly, the average hydrogen evolution rate (HER) of Cr-PHCN reaches 7581 μmol·h-1·g-1, around 47.4 times than that of pure CN (160 μmol·h-1·g-1), and the remarkable apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) attains to 10.62 % at 420 nm. This work successfully achieved the simultaneous morphology control and in-plane modification of high-performance g-C3N4 with high yield.
