Abstract:This article presents a developmental method to identify the maximum pose error for Stewart platform. The pose error is mainly caused by installation errors, joint clearance errors and the actuation errors. The relationship between pose error and installation errors, as well as branch length errors, are derived from inverse kinematic equations. Utilizing D-H (Denavit-Hartenberg) matrix differential method in each serial kinematic branch, the joint clearance errors and actuation errors are mapped to the branch length error. Displacement between the pairing elements of each clearance-influenced joint is expressed as a 3-dimensional random vector. And the problem is formatted as a constrained quadratic optimization problem, while the maximum position error and attitude error at a prescribed pose can be efficiently computed. A numerical example is presented to show the applicability of the method and the change law is summarize in prescribed workspace. Analysis and results provide theoretical foundations for accuracy synthesis and error compensation for Stewart. Platforms.
