Abstract:•Evolution of waterfilm height was filmed by high-speed camera and identified.•Volumetric evaporation coefficient was introduced to depict the intensity of heat transfer during static flash.•Interactions between height and temperature of waterfilm during static flash were studied.•A calculation model was set up to compute evolution of height/temperature from given flash chamber pressure.
