Abstract:A new ratiometric fluorescent probe for hydrazine based on a 4-hydroxynaphthalimide fluorophore was developed. The selective deprotection of the acetate group of the probe by hydrazine led to a prominent fluorescence ratiometric change, as well as a remarkable color change which could be distinguished by naked-eye. The reaction between the probe and hydrazine completed in 5min under the analytical system, and displayed a high selectivity and sensitivity for hydrazine against other primary amines and environmental and/or biological abundant ions. Moreover, the probe could be applied for hydrazine detection both in water samples and in vivo.

Abstract:Based on 4-bromo-1,8-naphthalic anhydride,one novel ratiometric fluorescence H 2 S-probe（IDNA） was designed and synthesized.Further studies indicate that IDNA can sensitively recognize H 2 S（detection limit of 7 μmol/L） with good selectivity and anti-interference ability.In addition,IDNA has satisfactory photostability in HeLa cells,ability of mitochondrial co-localization,and can be utilized in fluorescence imaging of H 2 S.

Abstract:Based on a deprotection reaction and intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) mechanism induced by hydrazine hydrate, a fluorescent probe for the rapid recognition of hydrazine hydrate (N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O) was designed. A simple one-step condensation reaction was employed to synthesize a series of novel aggregation-induced emission fluorescent probes with good sensitivity and selectivity for N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O. The detection limits for N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O using 1 to 3 were 1.51, 0.544 and 2.61 μM, respectively, at a probe concentration of 20.0 μM. Furthermore, probes 1–3 were able to detect N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O in living cells and it was found that probes 1–3 could interact with N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O to provide an effective tool for on-line monitoring. Moreover, probe 1 is capable of the imaging and tracing of N 2 H 4 ·H 2 O in zebrafish.

Abstract:Hydrazine is a widely used industrial material, and yet it is also a highly toxic and possibly carcinogenic substance which is likely to induce physiological dysfunction. Here, we report a ratiometric fluorescent probe (NA-N2H4) for hydrazine detection based on the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) mechanism. As a naphthalimide derivative with an acetate group at the 4th position of its naphthalic ring, this probe can realize both colorimetric and ratiometric detection for hydrazine. The probe NA-N2H4 exhibits a very low mean detection limit of 9.40 +/- 0.12 nM, which is well below the safety level (10 ppb, or 312 nM) as regulated by EPA. The probe's selectivity and anti-interference performance is found desirable, and the probe works well in quantitative detection toward hydrazine in real samples (drinking water and river water), as well as in the qualitative detection of gaseous hydrazine. Abstract:Isoniazid and its major metabolite, hydrazine (N2H4), may interfere with mitochondrial function and have negative effects on cells. Consequently, an understanding of the role of N2H4 in mitochondria is highly desirable for protecting human health. Herein, we report a novel mitochondria-targeted ratiometric fluorescent probe (Mitro-N2H4) for N2H4 detection. Mitro-N2H4 exhibited an attenuation of green emission at 521 nm and an enhancement of yellow emission at 590 nm in the presence of N2H4 because of hydrazinolysis, indicating that it can be used as a ratiometric chemosensor for N2H4 with high selectivity and sensitivity. Such on-site monitoring of N2H4 vapour using test strips and N2H4-moistened soil analysis demonstrated its advantages in potential application for the convenient sensing of N2H4. Moreover, the rationally designed probe has many potential applications for imaging N2H4 produced in situ during the metabolism of isoniazid in living cells based on the ratio of the fluorescent signal.

Abstract:Hydrazine (N2H4), which can disrupt the function of mitochondria and damage the morphology of mitochondria, leading to serious diseases, was classified as a restricted substance in drinking water by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the World Health Organization (WHO). In this paper, PHNN, a mitochondrial targeting probe with near-infrared emission wavelength and large Stokes shift was constructed for hydrazine detection through the expansion of the pi-conjugate system, heteroatom replacement and the introduction of nitrogen positive ions. Surprisingly, the fluorescence emission wavelength of PHNN was extended to 803 nm, and the Stokes shift was widened to 158 nm, respectively. PHNN can specifically recognize hydrazine with high sensitivity with the detection limit lower than the maximum limit of hydrazine in drinking water of EPA and WHO. Importantly, the rationally designed probe PHNN could be used for imaging hydrazine in the mitochondria of living cells, providing a potential tool for further exploration of the toxicity of hydrazine to mitochondria via visualize methods.

Abstract:Hydrazine induced toxicity causes serious harm to the health of humans. The detection of N2H4 in vitro and in vivo has attracted a great deal of attention, especially in the context of fluorescent probes. Although some fluorescent N2H4 probes have been reported, only a few operate in purely aqueous media and, as a result, require the use of organic cosolvents which hinders their use in analysis of real samples. In addition, most of the current N2H4 probes are either "off-on" or "on-off" types, in which it is difficult to eliminate interference from background fluorescence commonly occurring in in vitro and in vivo systems. Furthermore, some probes are unable to differentiate hydrazine from other organic amines. To address the above problems, we developed a novel oligo(ethylene glycol)-functionalized fluorescent probe for the detection of N2H4. The probe, which has a donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A)-type structure, is water-soluble, and it can be utilized to selectively detect N2H4 in both colorimetric and ratiometric mode. Furthermore, the probe is able to differentiate hydrazine from other organic amines and can be used to detect hydrazine vapor and for imaging A549 cells and zebrafish.

Abstract:In this work, dual-emissive ratiometric fluorescent system was constructed by the introduction of an ideal internal reference. By virtue of its unique alkalinity, N2H4 could undergo a hydrazinolysis reaction with the ester group of F1, inducing remarkable fluorescence enhancement while the blue fluorescence of the internal reference DPA remained constant. Consequently, the fluorescence intensity ratios (I540/I440) were proportional to the concentrations of N2H4, which was beneficial for the exactly quantitative detection. The skillful strategy granted the sensing system advantages such as relative good solubility in aqueous media, easy-to-design, simple synthesis, large emission shift, good ratiometric response, as well as the successful application in real water samples and cell imaging.

Abstract:Hydrazine (N2H4) is a crucial chemical raw material extensively utilized in chemical production. However, due to its volatility, water solubility, and high toxicity, both the gaseous form and aqueous solution of N2H4 pose significant environmental risks by causing severe pollution that can adversely impact plants, microorganisms, and human health. Therefore, accurate detection of N2H4 in the environment is imperative for safeguarding public health. In this study, we synthesized a ratiometric fluorescent probe (BCaz-Cy2) based on Carbazole and Hemicyanine groups. This probe exhibits simple synthesis procedure, rapid response time, high sensitivity and selectivity as well as remarkable detection signals. It enables effective detection of N2H4 in various matrices such as water, food, soil and plant samples thereby significantly expanding the scope of applications for N2H4 probes.

Abstract:Two probes based on tetrahydroxanthylium unit (probe 1a) and methyltetrahydroxanthylium unit (probe 1b) were designed and synthesized for the detection of hydrazine. Probes 1a–b exhibited turn-on red emission signal and high selectivity toward NH2NH2. The response time of probe 1a to NH2NH2 was more than 60 min, while that of probe 1b was less than 30 min. The detection limits of probes 1a–b were calculated as 210 nM and 110 nM respectively. What's more, the tolerance experiments showed that methyltetrahydroxanthylium unit possessed higher tolerance toward nucleophiles. Moreover, cells imaging experiments demonstrated that probe 1b could detect exogenous NH2NH2 in living HeLa cells.

Abstract:Hydrazine (N2H4) is a highly reactive chemical substance which is widely used in various industrial fields. Overexposure to hydrazine can bring potential risk to environmental safety and human health due to its toxicity and carcinogenicity. In this study, a near-infrared ratiometric fluorescent probe (TPE) with dual-excitation and dual-emission mode was designed and synthesized for the sensing of hydrazine. TPE displayed a highly sensitive and selective response to hydrazine with low detection limit (58 nM), short response time (3 min) and wide pH range (5–10). The sensing mechanism was investigated by 1H NMR titration, HRMS and DFT calculations. In view of the excellent properties, TPE was successfully applied for the detection of hydrazine in multiple systems including environmental water, food and gaseous samples. In addition, TPE was also successfully utilized for the real-time sensing of hydrazine in living cells and zebrafishes.

Abstract:A novel fluorescent probe 4 for hydrazine based on pyrazoline-derived was designed and synthesized. The selective deprotection of phthalimide group of the probe by hydrazine led to a dramatic fluorescent enhancement (similar to 84.7 folds) at 490 nm within 4 min in the aqueous solution. The limit of detection is 0.0622 mu A (1.99 ppb) which is much lower than the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standard (10 ppb). Notably, probe 4 could be used to detect hydrazine in gas state with different concentrations through color changes from readily prepared strips. Abstract:Hydrazine (N2H4) is a very important chemical reagent which has been widely used in the fields of chemistry industry, aerospace, pesticide production and others. However, N2H4 is highly toxic and prone to induce a variety of diseases. Hence, we designed two fluorescent probes (CH-NO1, CH-NO2) based on chloro-hydroxylmerocyanine (CHMC) with similar recognition groups. The two probes were synthesized by a simple reaction coupling between CHMC dye and two alkyl bromine compounds. Both probes showed specific off-on response to N2H4 in aqueous solution with nanomolar LOD (28 nM for CH-NO1 and 38 nM for CH-NO2), and without interference by a range of amino acids, anions and cations. Moreover, CH-NO1 can be used for both environmental and biological monitoring of N2H4.

Abstract:Precise determination of hydrazine has gained a great importance for the environmental ecology and health risk assessment owing to the significant biotoxicity of hydrazine. However, most existing fluorescent hydrazine probes, whose selectivity relies on the nucleophilicity of one -NH2 group on hydrazine, cannot effectively discriminate hydrazine from other amine species, especially for hydroxylamine. In this work, we develop a simple fluorescent probe (TAPHP) for hydrazine detection based on a chemo selective hydrazine-induced chalcone cyclization. The probe responds specifically and quantitatively to hydrazine with a discernible ratiometric fluorescence change. Notably, the newly developed probe TAPHP can be successfully applied for hydrazine imaging in living cells and zebrafish embryos. This finding offers a straightforward strategy to achieve the high selectivity towards hydrazine, and may enlightening further development of hydrazine probes. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. Abstract:Abstract A coumarin derivative fluorescent probe 3-(2-naphthyl)-7-acetoxycoumarin (TTAM) for hydrazine detection was successfully designed and synthesized. Hydrogen spectroscopy (1H NMR) and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) showed that the nucleophilic substitution occurred between hydrazine and the acyl oxide group of TTAM led to the probe fluorescence intensity increasing significantly and a remarkable color change which could be distinguished by naked-eye. The reaction could be finished in 120 s, and the detection limit is only 3.1×10-8 M. Moreover, a simple test paper was successfully developed that could be applied for rapid detection of hydrazine in water samples.

Abstract:A new fluorescent and colorimetric probe based on the reaction and intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) effect is designed and synthesized. The probe responds rapidly toward hydrazine and exhibits distinct color changes from yellow to colorless, indicating its use as a color indicator for hydrazine. Moreover, the probe also shows a significant broad band fluorescence (410-700 nm) enhancement by similar to 120-fold after the addition of hydrazine. With a detection limit as low as 0.11 ppb, the probe can detect hydrazine in a wide concentration range because of the blunted sensing functional group. The contrast test shows almost no interruption from common elements in water, suggesting the high selectivity of this probe toward hydrazine. The theoretical calculation based on density functional theory (DFT) is also performed and two different ICT modes are found. This hydrazine probe would be a promising candidate applicable in environment protection, water treatment and safety inspection. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Hydrazine is widely used in a plenty of fields as a raw material and is closely related to our healthy. A new fluorescent probe of hydrazine was designed and synthesized, choosing imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine as the electron acceptor, based on the intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) effect. The probe, 2-[4-(imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-ylethynyl)benzylidene]malononitrile (5), responds rapidly to hydrazine and exhibits obvious color changes from yellow to colorless, indicating its use as a color indicator for hydrazine. Sensing mechanism of probe 5 toward hydrazine was deduced through HOMO–LUMO energy levels and the interfacial plots of the molecular orbitals. Its physical and chemical properties were demonstrated by UV, fluorescence, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction via computation and experiment. The calculated data are consistent with experimental results.

Abstract:Hydrazine (N 2 H 4 ) has toxic effects on the environment. Although a variety of reactive probes have been used to identify hydrazine, practical applications required continuous development of hydrazine fluorescent probes with improved performance. Here, we applied the neighboring group participation (NGP) to the design of a fluorescent probe for hydrazine. The probe exhibited a rapid response to N 2 H 4 and strong anti-interference ability, with detection limited to 0.031 μmol/L. Theoretical calculation showed that the energy barrier could be reduced by NGP. The cyclic intermediate formed by the indole ring and the α-ester carbonyl group significantly reduced the activation energy of the reaction. Practically, the probe could detect hydrazine in actual water samples.

Abstract:A fluorescent probe for sensitive detection of hydrazine based on an ESIPT mechanism and a substitution-cyclization-elimination cascade was developed. After the addition of hydrazine, an approximately 50-fold enhancement in fluorescence intensity at 465 nm was observed and the subsequent decrease at 375 nm was observed in 10 min with a detection limit of 0.147 μM. We also detected hydrazine in HeLa cells successfully.
