Abstract:Pluggable optics can potentially fuel the optical transport network in a more efficient and manageable manner. To enable this revolutionary packet-optical engine, integrated photonics seems to be the only possible solution. We introduce the latest industry trend of pluggable optical module form factors, and review the latest progress and challenges of pluggable optics products. Furthermore, we discuss our recent demonstration on a compact solution to timing skew of coherent transmitter in the pluggable optical module.
