In order to develop detailed subsurface images for archaeological prospection, a full 3-D ERT is indispensable, particularly when complex subsurface heterogeneity exists. In our study, the 3-D surveys with electrode configurations of pole-pole, pole-dipole, dipole-dipole and wenner were carried out with 128 electrodes in Ancient city Liangzhu site, Zhejiang Province, China, to evaluate the applicability and the effectiveness of full 3-D ERT with different arrays for archaeological purpose. Besides, the grid was arranged at 16 by 8 electrodes with a fix spacing of 0.5 m. The results show that the pole-dipole array is a good choice in the shallow 3-D EHT survey for archaeological prospection, as it can satisfy the characterize of water-filled ditches on the surface and the buried ancient wall.
