Abstract:Secure hash vector index is generated using perceptual invariance of image DCT (discrete cosine transform) low-frequency coefficients to authenticate content of image which has been processed. A hash vector is generated for digital image using the technique of combining standardized DCT low-frequency coefficients matrix with key based random matrix. The proposed algorithm is shown to be unique, robust and secure. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm is able to resist the content-preserving modifications, such as format change, moderate geometric and filtering distortions. One can only acquire hash value of image while having both pseudo-random generator and key. In addition, the proposed algorithm generates same or similar hash value for perceptual same images, length of the hash value is only about 400 bits, and the collision rate decreases to 10-8 level. The proposed robust and secure algorithm can be applied to digital image authentication and retrieval of large image database.

Abstract:Ghost imaging is an unconventional imaging mechanism that utilizes the high-order correlation to reconstruct object's image. Limited by the maximum refresh rate of DMD or SLM, the sampling efficiency of ghost imaging has been a major obstacle for practical application. In this paper, foveated ghost imaging based on deep learning (DPFGI) is proposed to generate non-uniform resolution speckle patterns according to the object detection results as the fovea point. We combine foveated speckle pattern inspired by the human visual system with GAN-based ghost imaging object detection system to realize selecting the region of interest for foveated imaging intelligently. The simulation and experimental results show that DPFGI can detect objects in undersampled images with higher accuracy and achieve higher PSNR in the fovea region compared with uniform-resolution ghost imaging, which opens new perspectives for more intelligent ghost imaging.

Abstract:In recent years, ghost imaging has been widely applied in various areas, such as optical security. Here, we report how an object and multiple hidden marks can be simultaneously recovered by using only one rebuilt reference intensity sequence in ghost imaging. The reconstructed object can be clearly observed during the decoding, and multiple marks can be effectively hidden. This unique characteristic is established for ghost imaging system due to random selections of pixels from each reference intensity pattern, which also guarantees high security. This finding may open up a different research perspective for ghost-imaging-based security system.

Abstract: A simple and robust experiment demonstrating computational ghost imaging with structured illumination and a single-pixel detector has been performed. Our experimental setup utilizes a general computer for generating pseudo-randomly patterns on the liquid crystal display screen to illuminate a partially-transmissive object. With an incoherent light source, this object is imaged. The effects of light source, light path, and the number of measurements on the reconstruction quality of the object are discussed both theoretically and experimentally. The realization of computational ghost imaging with computer liquid crystal display is a further setup toward the practical application of ghost imaging with ordinary incoherent light.

Abstract:Computational ghost imaging (CGI) provides an elegant framework for indirect imaging, but its application has been restricted by low imaging performance. Herein, we propose a novel approach that significantly improves the imaging performance of CGI. In this scheme, we optimize the conventional CGI data processing algorithm by using a novel compressed sensing (CS) algorithm based on a deep convolution generative adversarial network (DCGAN). CS is used to process the data output by a conventional CGI device. The processed data are trained by a DCGAN to reconstruct the image. Qualitative and quantitative results show that this method significantly improves the quality of reconstructed images by jointly training a generator and the optimization process for reconstruction via meta-learning. Moreover, the background noise can be eliminated well by this method.

Abstract:Image hashing is a useful technique for many multimedia systems, such as image authentication, image copy detection, tampering detection, and image quality assessment (IQA). However, most of the image hashing schemes do not make desirable performance of IQA. To tackle this, a new hashing scheme with deep and texture features is proposed for reduced-reference (RR)-IQA. In the proposed hashing, deep features are calculated from the discrete cosine transform coefficients of the three-order tensor stacked by the feature maps generated by the pretrained ResNet18. Texture features are extracted by the gray-level co-occurrence matrix in the nonsubsampled shearlet transform domain. Hash is determined by combining the quantized versions of the deep and texture features. Extensive experiments performed on open datasets indicate that the proposed perceptual hashing is superior to some baseline schemes in the performances of RR-IQA and classification.

Abstract:Due to the limited number of stable image feature descriptors and the simplistic concatenation approach to hash generation, existing hashing methods have not achieved a satisfactory balance between robustness and discrimination. To this end, a novel perceptual hashing method is proposed in this paper using feature fusion of fractional-order continuous orthogonal moments (FrCOMs). Specifically, two robust image descriptors, i.e., fractional-order Chebyshev Fourier moments (FrCHFMs) and fractional-order radial harmonic Fourier moments (FrRHFMs), are used to extract global structural features of a color image. Then, the canonical correlation analysis (CCA) strategy is employed to fuse these features during the final hash generation process. Compared to direct concatenation, CCA excels in eliminating redundancies between feature vectors, resulting in a shorter hash sequence and higher authentication performance. A series of experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves satisfactory robustness, discrimination and security. Particularly, the proposed method exhibits better tampering detection ability and robustness against combined content-preserving manipulations in practical applications.
Multipurpose Image Hashing Based On Multistage Vector Quantization

Abstract:Perceptual image hashing has become an emerging solution for image indexing, authentication and watermarking. A perceptual image hash function maps a digital image into a fixed length binary string known as the hash value, which is invariant under changes to the image that is perceptually insignificant. In this paper, a multipurpose image hashing scheme based on Multi-Stage Vector Quantization (MSVQ) is proposed for both copyright protection and content authentication. The original gray-level image is first segmented into non-overlapping blocks. Each block is encoded by a two-stage vector quantizer to generate two indices, one for copyright protection and the other for content authentication. The obtained two index tables are then transformed into two binary images based on specific mapping functions. Finally, the authentication mark and permuted copyright logo are respectively XOR-ed with the two binary images to obtain final authentication and protection fingerprints. Compared with the existing DCTVQ based multipurpose hashing scheme, we provide two new mapping functions and our hashing process is much faster. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Image hashing function maps an image into a bit string which can be used to authenticate the originality of the image. In this paper, we propose a perceptual image hashing scheme that is secure and robust to visually insignificant changes but fragile enough to detect and precisely locate malicious attacks. The proposed image hashing method is based on the outlines of one-dimensional signals re-arranged from the 8times8 DCT blocks. The final image hash is obtained by applying binary quantization to the DWT coefficients of the obtained 1-D signals. Experimental results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract:Nowadays, target recognition technique plays an important role in many fields. However, the current target image information based methods suffer from the influence of image quality and the time cost of image reconstruction. In this paper, we propose a novel imaging-free target recognition method combining ghost imaging (GI) and generative adversarial networks (GAN). Based on the mechanism of GI, a set of random speckles sequence is employed to illuminate target, and a bucket detector without resolution is utilized to receive echo signal. The bucket signal sequence formed after continuous detections is constructed into a bucket signal array, which is regarded as the sample of GAN. Then, conditional GAN is used to map bucket signal array and target category. In practical application, the speckles sequence in training step is employed to illuminate target, and the bucket signal array is input GAN for recognition. The proposed method can improve the problems caused by conventional recognition methods that based on target image information, and provide a certain turbulence-free ability. Extensive experiments show that the proposed method achieves promising performance.

Abstract:Image perceptual hashing finds applications in content indexing, large-scale image database management, certification and authentication and digital watermarking. We propose a Block-DCT and PCA based image perceptual hash in this article and explore the algorithm in the application of tamper detection. The main idea of the algorithm is to integrate color histogram and DCT coefficients of image blocks as perceptual feature, then to compress perceptual features as inter-feature with PCA, and to threshold to create a robust hash. The robustness and discrimination properties of the proposed algorithm are evaluated in detail. Our algorithms first construct a secondary image, derived from input image by pseudo-randomly extracting features that approximately capture semi-global geometric characteristics. From the secondary image (which does not perceptually resemble the input), we further extract the final features which can be used as a hash value (and can be further suitably quantized). In this paper, we use spectral matrix invariants as embodied by Singular Value Decomposition. Surprisingly, formation of the secondary image turns out be quite important since it not only introduces further robustness, but also enhances the security properties. Indeed, our experiments reveal that our hashing algorithms extract most of the geometric information from the images and hence are robust to severe perturbations (e.g. up to %50 cropping by area with 20 degree rotations) on images while avoiding misclassification. Experimental results show that the proposed image perceptual hash algorithm can effectively address the tamper detection problem with advantageous robustness and discrimination.

Abstract:This paper proposes a perceptual hash algorithm based on the combination of Scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) and cluster analysis (K-means). SIFT is used for extracting local stabilized feature points of images. K-means is used for compressing feature data and obtain image perceptual hash. Assess the similarity between video frame and frame by means of Hamming distance among perceptual hash value. Through the analysis of experimental data, the results show that the algorithm has good robustness and success rate.

Abstract:Perceptual image hashing is an effective and efficient way to identify images in large-scale databases, where two major performances are robustness and discrimination. A better tradeoff between robustness and discrimination is still a severe challenge for the current hashing research. Aiming at this issue, we design a novel perceptual image Hashing with Locality Preserving Projection (LPP) (hereafter HLPP). Specifically, to improve the robustness against content-preserving operations, Gabor filtering is leveraged to adaptively extract the orientation and structure features, which are consistent with the response of human visual system. The LPP is adopted to learn intrinsic local structure from the maximum Gabor filtering response. The use of LPP can discover meaningful low-dimensional information hidden in the maximum Gabor filtering response and thus improves discrimination of HLPP. During hash similarity calculation, the Hamming distance is selected as the metric. The tradeoff performance between robustness and discrimination is validated on benchmark databases, and the results indicate that the proposed HLPP is superior to some state-of-the-art algorithms. In addition, extensive experiments of copy detection also demonstrate that the proposed HLPP can provide higher accuracy than the compared algorithms.

Abstract:A robust and perceptual image hashing method is proposed based on similarity coefficients of image blocks.The image is firstly preprocessed,and then divided into overlapped blocks.A reference pattern in relation to a secret key is generated with a Gaussian low-pass filter.The correlation coefficient between the reference pattern and each image block is calculated.These coefficients are concatenated and an intermediate hash is obtained.To get a short image hash,every two coefficients corresponding to neighboring blocks are merged into a new coefficient.These new coefficients are permuted pseudo-randomly to produce a secure hash.Finally,these new coefficients are mapped to the interval [0,100],and Huffman coded.Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the proposed method is robust to JPEG compress,additive noise,watermark embedding,re-scaling and Gaussian low-pass filtering,and it has very low collision probability.It can be applied to tamper detection.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a robust image hashing scheme based on perceptual texture and structure features. Through pre-processing, the input image with arbitrary size is regularized as a secondary image to alleviate the influence of noises. Then, the encoding of dual-cross pattern (DCP) is conducted on the secondary image to produce two coded maps representing textural information in horizontal-vertical and diagonal directions, respectively, and the DCP-based textural features can be extracted with the assist of histogram composition. On the other hand, salient structural features can be extracted from the frequency coefficients and position information of selective-sampled blocks containing the richest corner points. The final hash can be obtained after dimension reduction for the two types of extracted features. Experimental results demonstrate that our scheme has better performances with respect to robustness, anti-collision, and efficiency than some of state-of-the-art schemes.

Abstract:In this paper, current methods about perceptual hashing were deeply researched and the defects of them were analyzed. Principles and characters of discrete cosine transform, Watson visual model and chaotic model were introduced in details. A new method about perceptual image hashing which combined the characteristics of the three models was designed. This method use discrete cosine transform to feature extraction from image, eigenvector was handled by contrast sensitivity table, Logistic equation was used as chaos sequence generator to encrypt and at last the prediction differential method was used to quantization coding. Experimental results indicated that the method could resist the content-preserving modifications, and possessed strong robustness, safety and retrieval ability, and the collision rate decreases to level 10(-7). Therefore, this technique has the applied value in image authentication, copyright protection, image security and content-based image retrieval and so on.

Abstract:For ensuring the integrity of high-resolution remote sensing (HRRS) images, the perceptual hash method offers a dual advantage. It preserves the nondestructive nature of the original image while also ensuring robustness to content-preserving operations. However, current deep learning-based HRRS image hashing methods for integrity authentication are notably limited as they terminate at the feature extraction stage and fail to achieve an end-to-end construction from image to hash value. Consequently, there is a looming risk of uncontrollability and unexpected events. To overcome this problem, this letter proposes a deep subject-sensitive hashing network (DSSHN), presenting a unified network for end-to-end feature extraction and hash construction. Improved convolutional block attention module (I-CBAM) helps the network to focus more on subject-sensitive features. A targeted training scheme ensures perceptual hash robustness. The experimental results reveal that the algorithm achieves the best tampering detection performance, with top AUC (0.994) and leading precision and recall rates.

Abstract:A scenario of ghost imaging with hybrid transform approach is proposed by integrating Hadamard, discrete cosine, and Haar matrices. The measurement matrix is formed by the Kronecker product of the two different transform matrices. The image information can be conveniently reconstructed by the corresponding inverse matrices. In experiment, six hybridization sets are performed in computational ghost imaging. For an object of staggered stripes, only one bucket signal survives in the Hadamard-cosine, Haar-Hadamard, and Haar-cosine hybridization sets, demonstrating flexible image compression. For a handmade windmill object, the quality factors of the reconstructed images vary with the hybridization sets. Sub-Nyquist sampling can be applied to either or both of the different transform matrices in each hybridization set in experiment. The hybridization method can be extended to apply more transforms at once. Ghost imaging with hybrid transforms may find flexible applications in image processing, such as image compression and image encryption.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel perceptual image hashing scheme based on convolutional neural network (CNN) with multiple constraints is proposed, in which our deep hashing network learns the process of features extraction automatically according to the training target and then generates the final hash sequence. The combination of convolutional and pooling layers is to reduce the size of input image while deepening the channels. Then, we construct two pairs of constraints and integrate them into an overall constraint function through a strategy of weight allocation. In order to guarantee the robustness and discrimination of deep hashing network simultaneously, a new training method is developed to adjust the training set structure dynamically according to the changes of constraint values. Experimental results show that the proposed deep hashing network can achieve a satisfactory balance between perceptual robustnzess and discrimination while maintaining security. Based on the large-scale test set, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, F-1 scores and equal error rate (EER) demonstrate the superiority of our scheme in terms of content authentication compared with some state-of-the-art schemes.

Abstract:<p>In the traditional optical cryptosystems based on computational ghost imaging, a large number of phase-only masks or speckle patterns are generated to reconstruct the object image with high visual quality. At the same time, this kind of massive data, which is usually considered as the security keys to enhance the security of the cryptosystem, needs to be stored and transmitted and leads to low efficiency in practical applications. To address this issue, a computational ghost imaging method based on sparse reconstruction with the Barzilai-Borwein gradient projection is proposed from a new perspective of applying the compressive sensing technique in this paper. The measured intensities of the object image are collected by the means of traditional computational ghost imaging, while the security key composed of speckle patterns is compressed using compressive sensing and then transmitted in the secure channel in the proposed method. Consequently, the burden of key management such as storage and transmission can be considerably decreased. Moreover, when a significantly small part of the security key is shared in the secure channel, original information still can be authenticated without clear visualization by calculating the nonlinear correlation map between the object image and its reconstruction. The optical experiments illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method and demonstrate that it can provide an effective alternative for enriching the related research on computational ghost imaging techniques.</p>
