Abstract:Introduction: Falling tendency in older adults has been found associated with cognitive decline. Physical exercise not only can improve gait speed, but also can improve cognitive function. However, neural mechanisms underlying the association between gaiting/falling and cognitive function/dysfunction as well as improvement of the relevant neural network function after physical exercises are not quite clear. We hypothesized that the relationships of functional connectivity among the four major neural networks, i.e executive network (ECN), salience network (SN), emotion processing network (Emo), and default mode network (DMN) could be associated with gait and cognitive function as well dysfunction. In this study, we examined the correlations between functional connectivity among these networks with cognitive and gait function before and after 6-week computer-guided dancing programs.
