Abstract:There has been increased interest in the use of polymeric nanoparticles as carriers for near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) dyes for cancer diagnosis. However, efficient delivery of nanoparticles to the tumors after systemic administration is limited by various biobarriers. In this study, we investigated the pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, and tumor uptake of sub-nanometer sized polymeric nanoparticles (<100 nm in diameter) coated with polyethylene glycol in tumor-bearing mice. To facilitate our studies, these particles were labeled with gamma emitter indium-111. We found that two NIRF nanoparticles having the same size (approximately 20 nm) and chemical composition but different structures (i.e., hydrogel versus core-shell nanolatex), or the same core-shell nanolatex particles with different sizes (20, 30, and 60 nm), had different blood circulation times, biodistribution, and tumor uptake. Interestingly, the tumor uptake of the nanolatex particles correlated well with their blood residence times (R(2) = 0.95), but similar correlations were not found between nanogel and nanolatex particles (R(2) = 0.05). These results suggest that both the blood circulation time and the extent of hydration of the nanoparticles play an important role in the tumor uptake of nanoparticles. Prolonged blood circulation of these NIRF nanoparticles allowed clear visualization of tumors with gamma-scintigraphy and optical imaging after intravenous administration. A better understanding with regard to how the characteristics of nanoparticles influence their in vivo behavior is an important step towards designing NIRF nanoparticles suitable for molecular imaging applications and for efficient tumor delivery.

Abstract:For photothermal therapy (PTT), the improved targeting can decrease the dosage and promote the therapeutic function of photothermal agents, which would effectively improve the antitumor effect. The tumor microenvironment (TME) and cells are targets in designing intelligent and responsive theranostics. However, most of these schemes have been limited to the traditional visible and first near-infrared (NIR-I) regions, eager to expand to the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window. We designed and synthesized a polyethylene glycol conjugated and disulfide-modified macromolecule fluorophore (MPSS). MPSS could self-assemble into core-shell micelles in an aqueous solution (MPSS-NPS), while the small molecule probes were in a high aggregation arrangement inside the nanoparticle. The pronounced aggregation quenching (ACQ) effect caused them to the "sleeping" state. After entering the tumor cells, the disulfide bonds in MPSS-NPS broke in response to a high concentration of glutathione (GSH) in TME, and the molecule probes were released. The highly aggregated state was effectively alleviated, resulting in distinct absorption enhancement in the near-infrared region. Therefore, the fluorescence signal was recovered, and the photothermal performance was triggered. In vitro and in vivo studies reveal that the Nano-system is efficient for the smart NIR-II fluorescence imaging-guided PTT, even at a low dosage and density of irradiation.
Temperature-Responsive "Nano-to-Micro" Transformed Polymersomes for Enhanced Ultrasound/Fluorescence Dual Imaging-Guided Tumor Phototherapy

Abstract:The perfect integration of microbubbles for efficient ultrasound imaging and nanocarriers for intelligent tumor-targeting delivery remains a challenge in precise tumor theranostics. Herein, we exquisitely fabricated laser-activated and targeted polymersomes (abbreviated as FIP-NPs) for simultaneously encapsulating the photosensitizer indocyanine green (ICG) and the phase change agent perfluorohexane (PFH). The formulated FIP-NPs were nanosize and effectively accumulated into tumors as observed by ICG fluorescence imaging. When the temperature rose above 56 °C, the encapsulated PFH transformed from liquid to gas and the FIP-NPs underwent balloon-like enlargement without structure destruction. Impressively, the enlarged FIP-NPs fused with adjacent polymersomes to form even larger microparticles. This temperature-responsive "nano-to-micro" transformation and fusion process was clearly demonstrated, and FIP-NPs showed greatly improved ultrasound signals. More importantly, FIP-NPs achieved dramatic antitumor efficacy through ICG-mediated phototherapy. Taken together, the novel polymersomes achieved excellent ultrasound/fluorescence dual imaging-guided tumor phototherapy, providing an optimistic candidate for the application of tumor theranostics.
Smart On-Site Immobilizable Near-Infrared II Fluorescent Nanoprobes for Ultra-Long-Term Imaging-Guided Tumor Surgery and Photothermal Therapy

Abstract:Accurate diagnosis and efficient treatment of tumors are highly significant in battling cancer. Near-infrared II (NIR-II) fluorescence imaging shows big promise for deep tumor visualization in living systems due to high temporal and spatial resolution and deep tissue penetration capability, whereas the development of efficient NIR-II probes for tumor theranostics still faces a huge challenge. Herein, we have designed and constructed intelligent mPEG5000–PCL3000-encapsulated NIR-II nanoprobe ZM1068-NPs that showed great chemical stability and excellent biocompatibility. With the merits of the strong fluorescence in the NIR-II region and prominent optical-thermal conversion efficiency, this probe was successfully used for NIR-II imaging-guided surgery and photothermal therapy of breast carcinoma in living mice. More notably, it was for the first time found that ZM1068 dyes could be covalently on-site-immobilized within tumors through the thiol–chlor nucleophilic substitution reaction, resulting in improved tumor accumulation and retention time. Turning Double Hydrophilic into Amphiphilic: IR825-conjugated Polymeric Nanomicelles for Near-Infrared Fluorescence Imaging-Guided Photothermal Cancer Therapy.

Abstract:Developing biocompatible and photodegradable photothermal agents (PTAs) holds great promise for potential clinical applications in photothermal cancer therapy. Herein, a new PTA was innovatively constructed by conjugating the hydrophobic near-infrared (NIR) heptamethine cyanine molecule IR825-NH2 with a double hydrophilic block copolymer methoxypoly(ethylene glycol)5k-block-poly(l-aspartic acid sodium salt)10 (abbreviated as PEG-PLD) via amine-carboxyl reaction. The as-designed PEG-PLD(IR825) was amphiphilic and could self-assemble into polymeric nanomicelles in aqueous solutions. Benefiting from the chemical conjugation strategy, PEG-PLD(IR825) nanomicelles realized a considerably high drug loading rate (∼21.0%) and substantially avoided the premature release of IR825 during systemic circulation. Confocal imaging revealed that the nanomicelles mainly located at mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum after cellular internalization. In vitro photothermal therapy demonstrated the excellent cancer killing efficiency of PEG-PLD(IR825) nanomicelles due to their high light-to-heat conversion efficiency upon NIR laser irradiation. In addition, PEG-PLD(IR825) nanomicelles showed polarity-sensitive fluorescence at ∼610 nm (under 552 nm excitation) and 830 nm (under 780 nm excitation), which was especially useful for both in vitro visible fluorescence imaging and in vivo near-infrared fluorescence imaging-guided photothermal therapy (PTT). At the in vivo level, PEG-PLD(IR825) nanomicelles exhibited an excellent tumor-homing ability and a long retention time in tumor tissues as evidenced by the in vivo fluorescence imaging results. The desirable properties of PEG-PLD(IR825) nanomicelles ensured their effective tumor ablation during PTT treatment. More importantly, the PEG-PLD(IR825) nanomicelles underwent degradation after laser irradiation, which ensured their post-treatment biosafety. Therefore, the nanomicelles are promising to serve as an efficient and safe PTA for imaging-guided photothermal cancer therapy.

Abstract:Our exploiting versatile multimodal theranostic agent aims to integrate the complementary superiorities of photoacoustic imaging (PAI), second near-infrared (NIR-II, 1000-1700) fluorescence and T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with an ultimate objective of perfecting cancer diagnosis, thus improving cancer therapy efficacy. Herein, we engineered and prepared a water-soluble gadolinium-chelated conjugated polymer-based theranostic nanomedicine (PFTQ-PEG-Gd NPs) for in vivo tri-mode PA/MR/NIR-II imaging-guided tumor photothermal therapy (PTT).Methods: We firstly constructed a semiconducting polymer composed of low-bandgap donor-acceptor (D-A) which afforded the strong NIR absorption for PAI/PTT and long fluorescence emission to NIR-II region for in vivo imaging. Then, the remaining carboxyl groups of the polymeric NPs could effectively chelate with Gd3+ ions for MRI. The in vitro characteristics of the PFTQ-PEG-Gd NPs were studied and the in vivo multimode imaging as well as anti-tumor efficacy of the NPs was evaluated using 4T1 tumor-bearing mice.Results: The obtained theranostic agent showed excellent chemical and optical stability as well as low biotoxicity. After 24 h of systemic administration using PQTF-PEG-Gd NPs, the tumor sites of living mice exhibited obvious enhancement in PA, NIR-II fluorescence and positive MR signal intensities. Better still, a conspicuous tumor growth restraint was detected under NIR light irradiation after administration of PQTF-PEG-Gd NPs, indicating the efficient photothermal potency of the nano-agent.Conclusion: we triumphantly designed and synthesized a novel and omnipotent semiconducting polymer nanoparticles-based theranostic platform for PAI, NIR-II fluorescence imaging as well as positive MRI-guided tumor PTT in living mice. We expect that such a novel organic nano-platform manifests a great promise for high spatial resolution and deep penetration cancer theranostics.

Abstract:Nanoparticles for photothermal therapy: Real-time temperature monitoring is critical to reduce the nonspecific damage during photothermal therapy (PTT); however, PTT agents that can emit temperature-related signals are rare and limited to few inorganic nanoparticles. We herein synthesize a semiconducting polymer nanococktail (SPNCT) that can not only convert photo-energy to heat but also emit temperature-correlated luminescence after cessation of light excitation. Such an afterglow luminescence of the SPNCT detects tumors more sensitively than fluorescence as a result of the elimination of tissue autofluorescence, while its temperature-dependent nature allows tumor temperature to be optically monitored under near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation. Thus, SPNCT represents the first organic optical nanosystem that enables optical-imaging guided PTT without real-time light excitation.

Abstract:A novel aromatic-imide-based thermally activated delayed fluorescence material nano-micelle (TADF-NM) compound was prepared after being encapsulated with DSPE-mPEG2000 amphiphilic copolymers. TADF-NM had the preferential characteristics such as good biocompatibility, non-toxic and targeted ability, more importantly, TADF-NM efficiently isolated oxygen to enhance the fluorescence lifetime, and prevented quenching for using time-resolved fluorescence imaging (TRFI) in tumor cells. The fluorescence lifetime of TADF-NM was about 212 μs in PBS and 112 μs in tumor cells, which was the longest in fluorescence lifetime images based on TADF materials. These studies have shown that TADF-NM have excellent potential ability to overcome the interference of auto-fluorescence for being applied in confocal fluorescence tumor imaging.

Abstract:Pharmaceutical evaluations of nanomedicines are of great significance for their further launch into industry and clinic. Near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging plays essential roles in preclinical drug development by providing important insights into the biodistributions of drugs in vivo with deep tissue penetration and high spatiotemporal resolution. However, NIR-II fluorescence imaging has rarely been exploited for in vivo real-time pharmaceutical evaluations of nanomedicine. Herein, we developed a highly emissive NIR-II luminophore to establish a versatile nanoplatform to noninvasively monitor the in vivo metabolism of nanomedicines bound various polyethylene glycol (PEG) ligands in a real-time manner. An alternative D–A–D conjugated oligomer (DTTB) was synthesized to achieve NIR-II emission peaked at ∼1050 nm with high fluorescence QYs of 13.4% and a large absorption coefficient. By anchoring with the DTTB molecule, intrinsically fluorescent micelles were fabricated and bound with PEG ligands at various chain lengths. In vivo NIR-II fluorescence and photoacoustic imaging results revealed that an appropriate PEG chain length could effectively contribute to the longer blood circulation and better tumor targeting. In vivo therapeutic experiments also confirmed the optimized nanomedicines have efficient photothermal elimination of tumors and good biosafety. Semiconducting Polymer Nanoparticles for NIR-II Fluorescence Imaging-Guided Photothermal/thermodynamic Combination Therapy.

Abstract:Photothermal therapy is a promising phototherapeutic modality that has been widely studied in cancer therapy. However, because of the influence of heat shock protein (HSP), the therapeutic efficacy of photothermal therapy (PTT) is significantly suppressed. To improve the therapeutic efficacy, different tumor-specific therapeutic modalities have been chosen to combine with PTT. However, most of them rely on endogenous stimuli to trigger combination therapy, which may suffer from the issue of incomplete activation. Herein, we develop a PTT/thermodynamic combination therapeutic nanosystem whose therapeutic process is controlled by an external stimulus, near-infrared (NIR) light. The nanosystem (ADPPTN) is composed of a second NIR (NIR-II) fluorescent semiconducting polymer (SP) (DPPT) as the core, and a carboxyl group-decorated amphiphilic copolymer (PSMA-PEG) as the shell with an azo-containing compound (AIPH) loaded via electrostatic interaction. Under 808 nm laser irradiation, DPPT can generate heat to conduct PTT, while the elevated temperature may further trigger the release of AIPH radicals, conducting thermodynamic therapy (TDT). In addition, the NIR-II fluorescence signal emitted from DPPT can light the tumor. Compared with the nanoparticles without AIPH (DPPTN), ADPPTN has better anticancer efficacy under laser irradiation both in vitro and in vivo. Thus, our study provides an NIR-II fluorescence imaging-guided PTT/TDT combination therapeutic nanosystem for efficient cancer theranostics.
Polypeptide Conjugated Second Near-Infrared Organic Fluorophore for Image-Guided Photothermal Therapy.

Abstract:Imaging-guided photothermal therapy (PTT) is an attractive strategy to improve the diagnosis accuracy and treatment outcomes by monitoring the accumulation of photothermal agents in tumors in real-time and determining the best treatment window. Taking advantage of the superior imaging quality of NIR II fluorescence imaging and remote-controllable phototherapy modality of PTT, we developed a facile macromolecular fluorophore (PF) by conjugating small molecule NIR-II fluorophore (Flav7) with amphiphilic polypeptide. The PF can form uniform micelles in aqueous solution, which exhibit slight negative charge. In vitro experimental results showed that the PF nanoparticles showed satisfactory photophysical properties, prominent photothermal conversion effciency (42.3%), excellent photothermal stability, negligible cytotoxicity and remarkable photothermal toxicity. Meanwhile, the PF can visualize and feature the tumors by NIR-II fluorescence imaging owing to prolonged blood circulation time and enhanced accumulation in tumors. Moreover, in vivo studies revealed that the PF nanoparticles achieved excellent photothermal ablation effect to tumors with low dose of NIR-II dye and light irradiation, and the process can be traced by NIR fluorescence imaging.
Biodegradable Nanoagents with Short Biological Half-Life for SPECT/PAI/MRI Multimodality Imaging and PTT Therapy of Tumors

Abstract:Rapid clearance of nanoagents is a critical criterion for their clinical translation. Herein, it is reported that biodegradable and renal clearable nanoparticles are potentially useful for image-guided photothermal therapy of tumors. The multifunctional nanoparticles with excellent colloidal stability are synthesized through coordination reactions between Fe3+ ions and gallic acid (GA)/polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) in aqueous solution. Detailed characterization reveals that the resulting Fe3+/GA/PVP complex nanoparticles (FGPNs) integrate strong near-infrared absorption with paramagnetism well. As a result, the FGPNs present outstanding performance for photoacoustic imaging and magnetic resonance imaging of tumors, and outstanding photothermal ablation effect for tumor therapy owing to their high photothermal conversion efficiency. More importantly, the pharmacokinetic behaviors of the FGPNs determined through I-125 labeling suggest that the FGPNs are readily degraded in vivo showing a short biological half-life, and the decomposition products are excreted through either renal clearance pathway or bowel elimination pathway via stomach, which highlights the characteristics of the current multifunctional theranostic agent and their potential in clinical translation.

Abstract:Near-infrared organic fluorescent probes have great need in biological sciences and medicine but most of them are still largely unable to meet demand. In this work, a delicate multipurpose organic fluorescent probe (DPPM-TPA) with aggregation-induced emission performances is designed and prepared by facile method to reflect fluorescence labeling, two-photon imaging, and long-term fluorescent tracking. Specifically, DPPM-TPA NPs was constructed from 4-(diphenylamino)phenylboronic acid and DPPM-Br by classical Suzuki coupling reaction and then coated with F127. Such nanoprobe possessed high stability in diverse medium under ambient temperatures, low cytotoxicity, and brilliant fluorescence performance. More importantly, DPPM-TPA NPs showed excellent two-photon imaging and extraordinary long-term fluorescence tracing capacity to malignant tumor, and it can last up to 9 days. These results indicated that DPPM-TPA NPs is expected to serve as a fluorescent probe for photodiagnostic and providing a new idea for the development of long-term fluorescent tracker.

Abstract:Effective long-term monitoring of tumor growth is significant for the evaluation of cancer therapy. Aggregation-induced emission-active near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent organic nanoparticles (TPFE-Rho dots) are designed and synthesized for long-term in vitro cell tracking and in vivo monitoring of tumor growth. TPFE-Rho dots display the advantages of NIR fluorescent emission, large Stokes shift (∼180 nm), good biocompatibility, and high photostability. In vitro cell tracing studies demonstrate that TPFE-Rho dots can track SK-Hep-1 cells over 11 generations. In vivo optical imaging results confirm that TPFE-Rho dots can monitor tumor growth for more than 19 days in a real-time manner. This work indicates that TPFE-Rho dots could act as NIR fluorescent nanoprobes for real-time long-term in situ in vivo monitoring of tumor growth.
In Vivo Repeatedly Activated Persistent Luminescence Nanoparticles by Radiopharmaceuticals for Long-Lasting Tumor Optical Imaging

Abstract:Persistent luminescence nanoparticles (PLNPs) with rechargeable near-infrared afterglow properties attract much attention for tumor diagnosis in living animals since they can avoid tissue autofluorescence and greatly improve the signal-to-background ratio. Using UV, visible light, or X-ray as excitation sources to power up persistent luminescence (PL) faces the challenges such as limited tissue penetration, inefficient charging capability, or tissue damage caused by irradiation. Here, it is proved that radiopharmaceuticals can efficiently excite ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ nanoparticles (ZGCs) for both fluorescence and afterglow luminescence via Cerenkov resonance energy transfer as well as ionizing radiation. F-18-FDG, a clinically approved tumor-imaging radiopharmaceutical with a short decay half-life around 110 min, is successfully used as the internal light source to in vivo excite intravenously injected ZGCs for tumor luminescence imaging over 3 h. The luminescence with similar decay time can be re-obtained for multiple times upon injection of F-18-FDG at any time needed with no health concern. It is believed this strategy can not only provide tumor luminescence imaging with high sensitivity, high contrast, and long decay time at desired time, but also guarantee the patients much less radiation exposure, greatly benefiting image-guided surgery in the future.
Preferential Tumor Accumulation of Polyglycerol Functionalized Nanodiamond Conjugated with Cyanine Dye Leading to Near-Infrared Fluorescence In Vivo Tumor Imaging

Abstract:Preferential accumulation of nanoparticles in a tumor is realized commonly by combined effects of active and passive targeting. However, passive targeting based on an enhanced permeation and retention (EPR) effect is not sufficient to observe clear tumor fluorescence images in most of the in vivo experiments using tumor-bearing mice. Herein, polyglycerol-functionalized nanodiamonds (ND-PG) conjugated with cyanine dye (Cy7) are synthesized and it is found that the resulting ND-PG-Cy7 is preferentially accumulated in the tumor, giving clear fluorescence in in vivo and ex vivo fluorescence images. One of the plausible reasons is the longer in vivo blood circulation time of ND-PG-Cy7 (half-life: 58 h determined by the pharmacokinetic analysis) than that of other nanoparticles (half-life: <20 h in most of the previous reports). In a typical example, the fluorescence intensity of tumors increases due to continuous tumor accumulation of ND-PG-Cy7, even more than one week postinjection. This may be owing to the stealth effect of PG that was reported previously, avoiding recognition and excretion by reticuloendothelial cells, which are abundant in liver and spleen. In fact, the fluorescence intensities from the liver and spleen is similar to those from other organs, while the tumor exhibits much stronger fluorescence in the ex vivo image.

Abstract:Thermosensitive yolk-shell nanoparticles were developed as remote-controlled targeting drug delivery platform for multimodal imaging and combined therapy of cancer. The nanoparticles were fabricated using magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles as photothermal cores, thermo-responsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-co-1-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone p(NIPAM-co-NVP) as shells (Fe3O4-PNIPAM), with a hollow space between the two layers for loading of chemotherapeutic drug. The magnetic iron oxide nanoparticle cores could absorb and transform light to heat efficiently upon the irradiation of near infrared (NIR) laser, resulting in the shrink of the PNIPAM shell and the release of chemo-drugs. In vivo fluorescence/photoacoustic images demonstrated that Fe3O4-PNIPAM nanoparticles could accumulate in the tumor after intravenous injection. Upon the irradiation of the NIR laser, DOX-Fe3O4-PNIPAM nanoparticles exhibited outstanding synergistic effect. The tumor inhibition rate increased from 40.3% (DOX-Fe3O4-PNIPAM alone) and 65.2% (Fe3O4-PNIPAM +NIR) to 91.5%. The results demonstrated that the NIR-responsive nanocarrier offers a novel strategy for cancer theranostics and combined therapy of cancer.

Abstract:Under laser irradiation, photothermal therapy (PTT) effectively ablates tumors above 50 °C. However, hyperthermia can cause additional damage due to the inevitable heat spread to surrounding healthy tissue. Herein, nanoparticles named as GI@P NPs were designed for enhanced PTT with heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) inhibition at temperatures below 50 °C to achieve optimal cancer therapy and avoid surrounding damage. GI@P NPs were done by co-loading Garcinia cambogia acid (GA) and photosensitizer IR783 in polymer PLG- g -mPEG to form a nanomedicine, where IR783 with excellent photoacoustic (PA) signal acted as an excellent photothermal therapeutic agent that converted the laser energy into heat to kill tumor cells, GA was used as antitumor drug for chemotherapy and an inhibitor of HSP90 to overcome the heat resistance of tumors for efficient cryo-photothermal therapy, and PLG- g -mPEG can encapsulate IR783 and GA to increase biocompatibility and accumulate effectively in the tumor. After GI@P NPs were injected into the mice, we could observe that the PA signals gradually increased in the tumor region and showed the strongest PA signals at 12 h. Under laser irradiation, the tumor temperature of the mice could raise to about 43.5 °C, and the tumor was significantly inhibited after long-term monitoring by PA imaging. As a result, gentle PTT produced by GI@P NPs exhibited good antitumor effects at relatively low temperature and minimized nonspecific thermal damage to normal tissues. The GI@P NPs as nanomedicine enriched our understanding of various applications of polymeric carriers, especially in the biomedical field.
Delicately Designed Cancer Cell Membrane-Camouflaged Nanoparticles for Targeted 19 F MR/PA/FL Imaging-Guided Photothermal Therapy

Abstract:Our exploration of multimodal nanoprobes aims to combine photoacoustic (PA) imaging, 19F magnetic resonance (MR), and fluorescence (FL) imaging, which offers complementary advantages such as high spatial resolution, unlimited penetration, and high sensitivity to enable more refined images for accurate tumor diagnoses. In this research, perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and indocyanine green (ICG) are encapsulated by poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) for intravital 19F MR/FL/PA tri-modal imaging-guided photothermal therapy. Then, it is coated with an A549 cancer cell membrane (AM) to fabricate versatile theranostic nanoprobes (). After systemic administration, FLI reveals time-dependent tumor homing of NPs with high sensitivity, 19F MRI provides tumor localization of NPs without background signal interference, and PAI illustrates the detailed distribution of NPs inside the tumor with high spatial resolution. What is more, accumulated in the tumor area exhibit a prominent photothermal effect (48.4 °C) under near infrared (NIR) laser irradiation and realize an enhanced antitumor response in vivo. Abstract:Optical imaging-guided photodynamic therapy (PDT), with precise localization and non-invasive treatment of tumors, is an emerging technique with great potential for cancer therapy. However, impaired by tissue auto-fluorescence that causes low signal-to-background ratio (SBR), most fluorescence imaging systems show poor sensitivity to tumors in vivo. In this study, we synthesized organic nanoparticles (ONPs) with persistent luminescence and good biocompatibility for afterglow imaging-guided PDT. The ONPs displayed near-infrared light emission with half-life time at minute level, which offered high SBR and good tissue penetration for in vivo afterglow tumor imaging. Taking advantage of their abundant singlet oxygen generation by NIR laser irradiation guided to the tumor sites, the ONPs also enabled imaging-guided PDT for efficient suppression of tumor growth in mice with minimal damage to major organs.
