Abstract:Objective To study the CT characteristics of adrenal metastasis (AM) and lipid-poor adrenal adenoma (Lp-AA).Methods We retrospectively analyzed clinical and CT dates of AM (n=25) and Lp-AA (n=61) which were pathologically or clinically confirmed.The size,location,number,contour,cystic degeneration,calcification,hemorrhage and the clinical data were analyzed,as well as,CT value of tumor were measured and calculated.Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were employed to assess the significant continuous variables to tell AM from Lp-AA.Results 34 adrenal lesions were detected for 25 cases of AM (9 case showed bilateral with 18 lesions).There were 65 lesions for 61 cases of Lp-AA (3 cases showed bilateral and 1case showed two lesions in unilateral side).Sex and age had significant difference between the two groups (P＜0.05).On the categorical variables of CT examination,number,cystic degeneration and contour had significant difference between the two groups (P＜0.05),while tumor location,hemorrhage and calcification had no significant difference (P＞0.05).For the continuous variables,plain scan CT value,enhancement amplitude,relative percentage washout (RPW) and tumor size had significant difference between the two groups (P＜0.05).Area under ROC curve analysis showed that when the plain scan CT value＞30.4 HU,area under ROC curve,sensitivity and specificity were 0.878,91.2％,and 72.3％,respectively.When RPW was ＞-33.4％,the area under ROC curve,sensitivity and specificity were 0.643,79.4％,64.7％,respectively.When the maximum and minimum diameter of tumor were ＞2.9 cm and 2.2 cm respectively,the area under the curve,sensitivity,specificity were 0.762,73.5％,75.4％ and 0.706,64.7％,69.2％,respectively.When venous phase increase and the largest increase were ＜37.7 HU and 37.3 HU respectively,the area under the curve,sensitivity,specificity were 0.805,89.2％,64.7％ and 0.833,95.4％,64.7％ respectively.Conclusion Tumor size,number,contour,cystic degeneration,CT measured and calculated value,as well as the patients' clinical data are of great value in differentiating AM and Lp-AA.
CT Manifestations and Pathological Features of Primary Adrenocortical Carcinoma

Abstract:Purpose: To analyze the CT characteristics and pathological features of primary adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) , to improve the diagnostic accuracy of it.Methods: The CT manifestations, clinical information and pathological features of 16 ACC cases proved by surgery and pathology results were analyzed retrospectively.Results: There were 6 functional tumors and 10 non-functional masses. Seven of 16 lesions were located in the left adrenal gland, 9 in the right. The size of the tumors was ranged 4.4 cm×5.4 cm-14 cm×17 cm, 3 lesions were with diameter less than 5.0 cm. On plain CT: 7 lesions were lobulated or irregular, 3 lesions were round, 6 lesions were oval-shaped; 9 lesions were ill-defined and 7 cases were well defined; 5 lesions showed with spot or strip-like calcification; 15 cases were with necrosis; All 16 cases were inhomogeneous enhanced after contrast administration, and 2 cases with necrosis showed pseudocyst-like feature. The pathological result showed that all tumors were with illustrated confluent blood vessels, with hemorrhage and necrosis. The membrane of the vessels were infiltrated.Conclusion: The CT manifestations of adrenocortical carcinoma are characteristic, they have certain relationship with the pathological changes. Familiar with these will improve their diagnostic accuracy..
A Case Report of Adrenal Teratoma: Huge but Easy to Misdiagnose

Abstract:Primary adrenal teratoma is a rare lesion with a high misdiagnosis rate. In view of the fact that adrenal teratoma and adrenal gland are often inseparable, the removal of the affected adrenal gland seems inevitable. Thus, it is necessary for clinicians to differentiate adrenal teratoma from common adrenal lipoma diseases, such as adrenal angiomyolipoma, adrenal myelolipoma, lipoma, gangliocytoma, and so on. In this study, we reported the clinical and pathologic features of 7 patients surgically treated for adrenal mature teratomas from 2007 to 2020 in our hospital. We compared the clinical characteristics and surgical management in literature review cases with our cases. All patients were females and underwent open adrenalectomy or laparoscopic adrenalectomy, respectively. In our cases, there was no recurrence during the longest follow-up of 13 years. Adrenal teratoma is rare and easy to ignore. And once misdiagnosed, the surgeon may need to adjust the operation temporarily, extend the operation time and finally increase the operative risks. Our aim is mainly to help clinicians to raise awareness of adrenal teratomas, improve the diagnosis rates and optimize the treatment decision-making of this disease.
The Diagnosis and Treatment of Primary Adrenal Lipomatous Tumours in Chinese Patients: A 31-Year Follow-Up Study.

Abstract:Introduction: Adrenal lipomatous tumours (ALTs) are rarely encountered in clinical practice and consequently little is known about their clinical features.Methods: We analyze the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of ALTs based on cases presenting at a single centre over a 31-year period. We reviewed clinical data from patients with primary adrenal tumours treated at the Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai between January 1980 and December 2010.Results: A total of 73 cases of primary ALTs in 22 men and 51 women (mean age 51.1±14.2 years) were reviewed. The ALTs included 65 myelolipomas (89.0%), 3 lipomas (4.1%), 2 angiomyolipomas (2.7%), 2 teratomas (2.7%), and 1 liposarcoma (1.4%). Of the total 73 patients, 24 of them had tumours in the left adrenal gland, 47 in the right gland and 2 had bilateral tumours. In total, 51 patients underwent open surgery and 22 laparoscopic surgery.Conclusion: Myelolipoma is predominant among the various types of lipomatous adrenal gland tumours; it accounts for about 90% of all cases. Surgery is recommended for tumours ≥3.5 cm in diameter, for all cases of symptomatic tumour, and for cases of teratoma or liposarcoma identified by preoperative imaging.

Abstract:AIM:The treatment of adrenal metastasis using laparoscopic surgery is evolving. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) in patients who have adrenal metastases.METHODS:From September 1998 to November 2010, 12 patients underwent LA for adrenal metastatic tumors. Three cases were bilateral and 9 were unilateral. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical and histopathologic data of all 12 patients.RESULTS:The operations of all the 12 cases were successful. There were no intraoperative complications. The mean follow-up time was 17.2 months (range, 2 to 56 mo). We found no intraperitoneal and/or port-site recurrence. One patient had died from metastatic disease.CONCLUSIONS:Our experience leads us to feel that LA is feasible when the primary tumor is well controlled, there are no other metastases clinically and radiologically, when the adrenal metastasis is confined to the adrenal gland, and there is no radiologic evidence of local extension into tissue around the adrenal gland.
Clinical Analysis of Adrenal Lesions Larger Than 5 Cm in Diameter (an Analysis of 251 Cases)

Abstract:Background To describe the pathological distribution, imaging manifestations, and surgical managements and prognosis of large adrenal tumors (LATs) ≥ 5 cm Methods A total of 251 patients with LATs were analyzed on the basis of pathological or clinical diagnosis. Regarding surgery, open adrenalectomy was performed on 89 patients, and laparoscopic adrenalectomy was performed on 89 patients. Thirty-two patients with bilateral tumors were analyzed in terms of clinical characteristics. The survival rate was determined for 43 patients with adrenal metastases and 29 patients with primary adrenal malignancies. The CT characteristics including tumor diameter, shape, edge, heterogeneity, necrosis, calcification, pre-contrast attenuation, and contrast attenuation were analyzed for 117 patients. Results The majority of LATs were still benign, but they had a higher probability to be malignant. Benign LATs made up 68.13% of all cases, mainly adrenal cysts (19.52%), pheochromocytoma (18.73%), benign adenoma (16.73%), and myelolipoma (7.17%). Malignant LATs accounted for 28.69% of cases, mainly including adrenocortical carcinoma (8.76%) and metastases (17.13%). Laparoscopic surgery was found to involve less trauma than open surgery. It was also safer and postoperative recovery was faster, but it had drawbacks and could not completely replace open surgery. CT features had obvious specificity for the diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors. For example, benign adenomas had a smaller pre-contrast (< 10 Hu) whereas malignant adrenal tumors had, on the contrary, higher attenuation. Regarding adrenal malignant carcinoma, adrenal primary malignant tumors showed a better prognosis than adrenal metastases (mean survival of 19.17 months vs 9.49 months). Primary adrenal cortical carcinoma without metastasis had a better prognosis than primary adrenal cortical carcinoma metastasis (mean survival of 23.71 months vs 12.75 months), and adrenal solitary metastasis had a better prognosis than general multiple metastatic carcinoma (mean survival of 14.95 months vs 5.17 months). Conclusion LATs were more likely to be benign; however, they still had a high probability of being a malignant tumor. Understanding the clinicopathological characteristics of LATs can facilitate selection of more effective clinical treatment options.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of adrenal lesions in Chinese multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN-1) patients. METHODS:Adrenal CT scan and clinical manifestations were retrospectively reviewed in 32 consecutive MEN-1 patients who were evaluated at our hospital during January 1986 to December 2009. RESULTS:Adrenal lesions were identified in 16 of 32 (50%) MEN-1 patients. Five (31.3%) patents with adrenal involvement showed bilateral lesions, including bilateral adenoma (n=1), bilateral hyperplasia (n=2) and adenoma and hyperplasia on each side (n=2). Unilateral adrenal lesion was presented in 11 (68.7%) patients. Among which, 63.6% had adenomas with a mean diameter of 2.3 cm (0.8-4.0 cm) and the remainder was of hyperplasia or enlargement. In two patients, functioning adrenal abnormalities were detected including Cushing adenoma (n=1) and aldosterone-secreting adenoma (n=1). CONCLUSIONS:The prevalence of adrenal lesion in MEN-1 patient is similar between China and western countries. These tumors are mostly benign, small and nonfunctioning. Taking into account a high incidence of adrenal carcinoma in previous foreign studies, routine screening and close surveillance are still recommended for adrenal lesions in MEN-1 patients.
Diagnosis and treatment of adrenal myelolipoma (Report of 12 cases)

Abstract:[Objective] To improve the diagnostic and therapeutic level of adrenal myelolipoma. [Methods] 12 cases proved by pathology were respectively analyzed and the relevant literature were reviewed.[Results] Postoperative pathology confirmed the diagnosis of adrenal myelolipoma in all 12 cases. Definition of adrenal myelolipoma by CT was based on a well circumscribed nonhomogeneous mass with low density mature fat interspersed with more dense myeloid tissue. Those lesion had mild enhancement. They were followed up for 6 months to 36 months and no recurrent rumors were found. Blood pressure returned to normal after surgery on 2 cases who had hypertension. [Conclusions] Diagnosis of adrenal myelolipoma can be mostly established by CT and MRI. The treatment is mainly dependent on open surgery or laparoscopic operation. The small asymptomatic adrenal myelolipoma can be treated conservatively, but a regular follow up is necessary. The prognosis is well.
Clinical and Pathological Characteristics of Adrenal Lymphangioma Treated by Laparoscopy Via a Retroperitoneal Approach: Experience and Analysis of 7 Cases.

Abstract:To describe the clinical and pathological characteristics of adrenal lymphangioma (AL) and share our experiences of the treatment of AL with retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery. All patients pathologically diagnosed with AL were examined. The clinical and pathological characteristics, process of diagnosis, and preparation and treatment of all patients, especially patients treated with laparoscopic surgery, were summarized and retrospectively analyzed. From January 2008 to May 2014, 8 patients underwent adrenalectomies and were diagnosed with AL in our hospital. The median age was 45.5 years. All of these patients experienced a smooth adrenalectomy: 7 performed by laparoscopy via a retroperitoneal approach and 1 performed by open surgery. Five were female and the other 3 were male. These patients had unilateral adrenal lesions. Four were located on the right which to be same as the contralateral. In addition, 1 specimen was assayed by immunohistochemistry (IHC), which revealed positive results for CD31, CD34, Factor VIII-related antigen and D2-40, and negative results for cytokeratin AE1/AE3. During a brief follow up, all patients exhibited favorable results without discomfort. AL is a benign lesion with mild bio-behavior and patients are generally asymptomatic. The use of computerized tomography (CT) combined with enhanced CT has a superior advantage in diagnosis. Laparoscopic adrenalectomies that are performed via a retroperitoneal approach would be a very safe and efficient choice for AL treatment. D2-40 can be considered as a specific IHC marker in the pathological diagnosis of AL. However, pheochromocytoma and adrenal tuberculosis should be ruled out before and during the operation.

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of nonneoplastic cystic lesions such as adrenal cysts and hematomas.Methods One thousand two hundred and fifty samples of adrenal masses resected by Department of Urology,Ruijin Hospital,Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine between January 2000 and October 2009 were retrospectively analysed,and 46(3.68%) of the cases were confirmed as simple adrenal cysts or hematomas by pathological examinations,and were further analysed.All patients underwent endocrinal examinations and imaging examinations such as B ultrasound,CT,MRI and plain abdominal radiograph plus intravenous pyelography before operation,and pathological diagnosis was made after operation.Results There were no abnormal findings in endocrinal examinations before operation in 46 patients.Thirty cases(65.2%) were diagnosed as adrenal cysts by imaging diagnosis before operation,while the other 16 cases were undetermined.The size of masses ranged between 3.0 cm×2.5 cm to 7.6 cm×8.7 cm.Forty-one patients underwent simple mass resection,and 5 patients experienced mass resection plus partial adrenalectomy.Patients were followed up for 8 months to 9.5 years,and no recurrence was observed.Conclusion Most simple adrenal cysts can be defined by clinical,radiological and laboratory examinations before operation,while some adrenal cysts and hematomas may be wrongly diagnosed as adrenal tumors.The exploration for symptomatic adrenal cystic lesions is needed,and cystic lesions without confirmation should be taken as pheochromocytomas in preparation before operation.
Surgical removal of giant adrenal lipoma with gallstones in limited resources areas: A case report

Abstract:Introduction and importance: Adrenal Lipoma (LA) is a benign very rare tumor that accounts for 0.7 % of primary adrenal tumors and 4 % of adrenal fatty tumors. They are asymptomatic and discovered accidentally by a CT scan or the US. Case presentation: This case report describes an incidentally discovered giant adrenal lipoma in a 45-year-old Asian woman with no prior medical history, presenting with episodic blood pressure fluctuations and abdominal pain attributed to coexisting gallstones. Imaging revealed a heterogeneous, well-demarcated adrenal mass measuring 17 × 14 × 11 cm with a 2 × 3 cm nodular density. Histopathological examination confirmed a 15 cm lipoma with ischemic changes, devoid of atypical features. This case underscores the importance of thorough investigation for adrenal masses, even in asymptomatic individuals. Discussion: This case report details a rare instance of a giant adrenal lipoma (17 × 14 × 11 cm, 870 g) co-occurring with gallstones in a 45-year-old woman experiencing chronic abdominal pain. Computed tomography revealed a characteristic homogenous fatty lesion, prompting open surgical resection due to the tumor's size. Hormonal evaluation confirmed a non-functioning tumor. This case emphasizes the challenges in diagnosing and managing giant adrenal lipomas, advocating for comprehensive investigation of adrenal masses, particularly with concurrent hypertension. Conclusion: Giant adrenal lipomas (LAs) are rare, benign tumors often presenting asymptomatically. This report documents the fifth largest and third heaviest LA reported, notably co-occurring with gallstones. While laparoscopic resection is ideal, delayed diagnosis due to insidious presentation can lead to increased tumor size, potentially precluding minimally invasive approaches.

Abstract:With the widespread use of non-invasive imaging modalities, the incidental detection of myelolipoma has become more common. We analyze the clinical data of 4 typical cases of unilateral adrenal myelolipomas, including 1 hormonally inactive patient and 3 hormonally active cases with hyperaldosteronemia, hypercortisolism and hyperandrogenemia. Obvious differences were found in the pathological sections. To our knowledge, this is the first article discussing the etiology of adrenal myelolipoma from pathologic analyses.

Abstract:Adrenal lipoadenoma is an extremely rare tumor. Only four cases have been reported so far. The authors reported a case of adrenal lipoadenoma in a 46-year-old man with the history of abdominal pain. The present case, manifesting as a nonfunctional adrenal tumor, is characteristically comprised of a mixture of mature adipocytes and adrenocortical cells. We also reviewed this tumor in different organs which have been published in the literature.

Abstract:Objective:To probe into the treatment of large tumors in adrenal.Methods:The clinical data of 35 cases of large tumors in adrenal that underwent surgical excision were reviewed.Results:In 8 patients,the tumor was removed by abdominal median incision and 7 by abdominal right L-shape incision,5 by left dorsolumbar flap incision,3 by left abdominothoracic incision,12 by intercostal incision 8 at 10 th rib and 4 at 11 th rib.21 cases were situated in the right adrenal and 14 cases were situated in the left.The average diameter of the growth was 15.8 cm(7-35 cm)and the average weight was 550g(75-2 600 g).The postoperative pathology confirmed that cortical carcinoma was found in 5 cases and pheochromocytoma in 20 cases,malignant pheochromocytoma in 4 cases,malignant fibrous histiocytoma in 1 case,neurocytoma in 1 case,myelolipoma in 1 case,dysembryoma in 1 case,dysembryo-sarcoma in 1 case,well-differentiated liposarcoma in 1 case respectively.Conclusions:Appropriate medical preparation and overall data of imaging is the key before surgery.Abdominal incision are suitable for the large tumors in adrenal,right L-shape incision and left abdominalthoracic incision or dorsolumbar flap incision can be also performed.Monitoring for hypoglycemia and insufficiency of adrenal cortex,dilution anemia have to be awared of after surgery.
Adrenal Myelolipoma:Clinical Diagnosis and Management of 26 Cases

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the diagnosis and management of adrenal myelolipoma.METHODS:The clinical data of 26 cases were analyzed retrospectively and the selected articles were reviewed. There were no specific clinical symptom and endocrine abnormality, except increasing catecholamine in 2 cases. All cases but two were diagnosed by B-model ultrasound scanning (B-US), CT or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).RESULTS:Twenty-six cases were surgically treated, the diameter of the tumor was 5 - 10 cm, simple tumor resection was performed in 16 cases, and complete adrenal resection was performed in 10 cases. All the operated cases were proved by pathologists. The duration of follow-up was from 6 - 28 months after surgery. No recurrence was observed.CONCLUSIONS:The diagnosis of adrenal myelolipoma could be established based on B-US, CT or MRI. The tumors whose diameter is larger than 5 cm in size should be removed.
Nonfunctional Malignant Adrenal Tumor(report of 12 Cases)

Abstract:Objective To review the clinical features,diagnosis,management and prognosis of patients with nonfunctional malignant adrenal tumors. Methods 12 patients admitted with nonfunctional malignant adrenal tumors from 1990 to 2000 were reviewed.Among them 6 cases had symptoms of fever,ostealgia,etc.The tumor measured 3 cm in 1 case,5 to 10 cm in 9 cases and more than 10 cm in 2 cases.Ten cases developed local invasion and (or) matastasis. Results Five cases underwent tumor excision or enucleation and 5 underwent biopsy only.Of these 10 cases,4 were pathologically diagnosed as cortical adenocarcinoma,4 as metastatic carcinoma,1 as mucous liposarcoma and 1 as lymphoma.The remaining 2 cases had no operation.One case died during hospital stay.Ten cases died within 2 years.One case of adrenocortical carcinoma experienced relapse 3 years after initial operation and died next year. Conclusions Nonfunctional malignant adrenal tumor is rare and difficult to diagnosis in early stage,indicating an extremely poor prognosis.Tumor diameter is an important factor to be considered regarding surgical indication.
Clinical Characteristics and Surgical Management of Adult Adrenal Teratoma: A 15-year Experience and Systematic Review of the Literature.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To summarize the clinical characteristics and surgical management of adrenal teratoma in adults. PATIENTS AND METHODS:We retrospectively reviewed 14 patients with adrenal teratoma from January 2002 to June 2017, at 2 large centers in China and performed a systematic review of 39 patients from our series and published literatures. The clinicopathological characteristics, imaging features, surgical management and outcomes of this rare disease were analyzed. RESULTS:Our series includes 12 females and 2 males with the median age of 35. Seven patients were treated by open adrenalectomy (OA) and 7 by laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) without perioperative complications. All patients were alive without recurrence or canceration over a mean follow-up of 77.1 months. In the systemic review, the male-female ratio was nearly 1:3, with a median age of 29 years. Mean tumor size was 9.4 cm and the distribution was almost the same between left and right side (53.8% vs 46.2%). The most common symptoms were flank or abdominal pain (46.2%), whereas 53.8% patients were asymptomatic. Tumors were often cystic (63.9%) with intratumoral fat (91.7%) and calcifications (80.6%). All patients underwent surgery including 17 (43.6%) OA and 22 (56.4%) minimally invasive surgery. All tumors were pathologically confirmed mature teratoma except for one. CONCLUSION:Adrenal teratoma is an extremely rare entity, frequently found to be large, benign and cystic. The patient's prognosis is generally good. As for its large volume, OA is the first choice for teratoma in most cases, while the LA can be an option in the small one.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:This study was designed to evaluate the clinical and pathological characteristics of adrenal masses.METHODS:The clinical data of 249 cases of adrenal masses which were confirmed at operation and by pathology were analyzed.RESULTS:The series comprised 103 males and 146 females. Overall, females were more commonly represented than males, especially with Cushing's syndrome and typical pheochromocytoma (female:male ratio 3.3:1.9), however the prevalence of adrenal incidentalomas (AIs) in males and females was similar. In our series, 148 (59.4%) were symptomatic, of which 4 (2.7%) were malignant, and 101 (40.6%) were incidental, of which 20 (19.8%) were malignant. Hormonal work-up demonstrated that 30.3% of the AIs were functional. Of 109 adrenocortical adenomas, 47 were primary aldosteronism, 31 were Cushing's syndrome, 30 were AIs, and 1 was adrenal virilization. Of 72 benign pheochromocytomas, 51 were typical pheochromocytomas and 21 were AIs. Of 14 adrenal nodular hyperplasias, 6 were Cushing's syndrome and 8 were primary aldosteronism. Of the remaining 30 benign tumors, all presented as AIs. The diameter of malignant tumors (10.9 ± 5.6 cm) was significantly larger than that of benign tumors (4.5 ± 3.7 cm) (p < 0.001).CONCLUSION:This study shows a high rate of AIs in patients with adrenal masses selected for surgery. Hormone levels should be determined in symptomatic or incidental patients with adrenal masses. Imaging examination (CT and MRI) is the first method used to detect and localize adrenal masses. Tumor size is an important parameter of diagnosis and management of patients with adrenal masses, especially AIs.

Abstract:Background and Objective: Primary adrenal lymphoma is a rare, progressive, easily misdiagnosed adrenal tumor with a poor prognosis. There are limited data on its clinical characteristics, and these have been derived from small sample studies. This study aimed to identify the clinical characteristics and prognosis of primary adrenal lymphoma. Methods: This single-center study retrospectively analyzed data of 50 primary adrenal lymphoma patients treated between January 2008 and January 2018. Demographic information, biochemical indexes, computed tomography images, pathological findings, treatment regimens, and prognostic factors were analyzed. Results: The median age of onset was 60.3 years, and 30 (60.0%) of 50 patients were male. Abdominal pain was the most common symptom, followed by incidentaloma and B symptoms. On average, patients presented with elevated lactate dehydrogenase (348 IU/L, normal range 110-220 IU/L) and hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase levels (287 IU/L, normal range 72-182 IU/L) and decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (0.88 mmol/L, normal range > 0.9 mmol/L). Bilateral lesions in the adrenal glands were observed in 30 (60.0%) patients. Computed tomography showed that 42 (84%) patients had signs of infiltration. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma was present in 44 (88%) patients. Immunohistochemistry revealed that 70.6% (12/17), 89.5% (17/19), 92.0% (23/25), and 68.8% (11/16) of patients were positive for MYC, p53, BCL2, and both MYC and BCL2, respectively. Combined chemotherapy was associated with a good prognosis. Conclusions: Early diagnosis of primary adrenal lymphoma depends on a combination of biochemical examination, imaging studies, and pathological biopsy, and combined chemotherapy may lead to a better prognosis.

Abstract:Purpose To explore the sonographic characteristics and its diagnostic value of adrenal lymphoma.Materials and Methods Twelve patients with adrenal lymphoma confirmed by pathology were retrospectively reviewed.Important parameters such as size,morphology,margin,internal echogenicity and blood supply of these lesions were evaluated.Results The diameters of 21 lesions(including 9 bilateral lesions and 3 unilateral lesions) were 3.1-12.7 cm,median(7.8±3.7) cm.Twelve lesions were irregular,7 lesions were round or oblong,and 2 lesions presented as adrenal thickening similar to appearance of adrenal hyperplasia.As for internal echogenicity,12 lesions were markedly homogeneous hypoechoic,while the remaining 9 lesions were inhomogeneous hypoechoic corresponding to the cystic and central echogenic areas.Sixteen lesions were well-defined,and 5 had ill-defined margins.CDFI showed little or no blood flow signal in the majority of lesions.Conclusion The sonographic changes of adrenal lymphoma have certain characteristics,which may be helpful in differential diagnosis.
