Abstract:In order to study the effect of the glass transition temperature (Tg) on space charge behavior of epoxy resin under polarity reversal voltage, the epoxy resin samples with low Tg were casted in vacuum condition. The dielectric spectra of the samples were measured over the frequency range of 10(-1) to 106 Hz at different temperatures. At different temperatures the negative poling field of -30 kV/mm was firstly applied to the epoxy resin samples for 90 min, and then the polarity reversed to the positive field of +30 kV/mm in 60 s which was also hold for 90 min. While applying polarity reversal voltage, the space charge in samples was measured with improved pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) system. The temperature has great influence on polarity of accumulated space charge in samples. At low temperature, the homocharge distribution was observed in the samples under the poling voltage, and the electric field distributions in the sample before and after the reversal are different. At high temperature, the movements of charge carriers in the samples are significantly enhanced and the heteocharge accumulation appears in the vicinity of the electrodes under the poling voltage. During the reversal, the polarity and density of the space charge at high temperature can timely vary with respect to the applied voltage, which lead to the electric field distributions profiles before and after the reversal are almost completely symmetrical.
