Abstract:A heterogeneous Fenton catalyst Ce0–Fe0-reduced graphene oxide (Ce–Fe–RGO) was synthesized with chemical reduction methods and used for degradation of sulfamethazine. The introduction of Ce and graphene increased the dispersibility of iron particles which was confirmed by SEM and TEM. The results of VSM analysis showed good magnetism of Ce–Fe–RGO. The catalyst performance was compared with other kinds of catalysts (Fe0 and Ce0–Fe0) for degradation of sulfamethazine. The results showed that Ce0–Fe–RGO had good catalytic performance and adsorption. X-ray diffraction showed the change of iron oxide on catalyst surface after use. The total sulfur (TS), total nitrogen (TN), total organic carbon (TOC), and intermediates, such as small organic molecular and anion ions, were analyzed by IC under different pH conditions. Finally, the possible catalytic mechanism was tentatively proposed based on inhibitor experimental results and XPS characterization. The main active species was hydroxyl radical on catalyst surface and the transition between Ce3+ and Ce4+ which enhanced the reduction from Fe3+ to Fe2+ and formation of ·OH and ·O2 −.
Removal of sulfamethazine antibiotics using CeFe-graphene nanocomposite as catalyst by Fenton-like process

Abstract:The presence of sulfonamide (SMT) antibiotics in aquatic environments has received increasing attention in recent years, and they are ubiquitous pollutants which cannot be effectively removed by conventional wastewater treatment processes. In this paper, the nanocomposites Ce(0)/Fe(0)-reduced graphene oxide (Ce(0)/Fe(0)-RGO) were synthesized through chemical reduction method, and characterized by Raman and FTIR before and after use. The addition of RGO can prevent the agglomeration of Ce(0) and Fe(0). The elimination of SMT can be divided into adsorption and degradation process. The adsorption of SMT onto the catalyst can enhance its degradation. The effect of pH value, concentration of H2O2, catalyst dosage, temperature and initial SMT concentration on the removal efficiency of SMT was determined. When pH = 7, T = 25 °C, H2O2 = 8 mM, Ce(0)/Fe(0)-RGO = 0.5 g/L, SMT = 20 mg/L, the removal efficiency of SMT and TOC was 99% and 73%, respectively. The stability of the catalysts was evaluated with repeated batch experiments using ethanol, water and acid as solvents to wash the used catalysts, respectively. The surface change of the catalysts after each use was characterized by Raman and FTIR analysis. The intermediates were detected by GC-MS and IC, the possible degradation pathway of SMT was tentatively proposed.

Abstract:Iron oxyhydroxides (FeOOH) are common crystalline forms of iron which play an important role in catalysis through a series of reduction-oxidation reactions. In this paper, Ce substituted goethite (Ce0.1Fe0.9OOH) was prepared by isomorphous substitution method, characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM-EDS, FTIR, and used for the catalytic ozonation of sulfamethazine (SMT). The results showed that the catalyst can significantly enhance the mineralization of SMT, and more than 42.1% SMT were mineralized in the presence of the catalyst, which is 1.74 times higher than ozonation alone. Moreover, with addition of catalyst, more ozone was dissolved into solution. The solution pH decreased due to small-molecule organic acids formation. The catalytic activity decreased slightly during the repeated batch experiments, due to the corrosion of the catalyst and the adsorption of the residual intermediates on the catalyst surface.

Abstract:Sulfamethazine (SMT) is a ubiquitous pollutant due to its extensive application, and it cannot be effectively removed by conventional wastewater treatment processes. In this study, a magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles immobilized on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Fe3O4/MWCNTs) composites were synthesized, characterized and used as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts for SMT degradation. The MWCNTs scaffold with large surface area and good adsorption capacity can improve Fe3O4 dispersibility and facilitate pollutant adsorption. The Fe3O4/MWCNTs exhibited enhanced catalytic activity for SMT degradation. The effects of initial pH, H2O2 dosage, catalyst dosage, initial SMT concentrations and temperature on SMT degradation were investigated. The results showed that the removal efficiency of SMT and total organic carbon was 98.3% and 59.7%, respectively, under optimal reaction conditions. The Fe3O4/MWCNTs also showed stable catalytic activity, reusability and easy recycling. Furthermore, the main oxidation products of SMT degradation and the primary active radical were identified, and the possible catalytic mechanism was tentatively proposed.
Metal Organic Framework with Coordinatively Unsaturated Sites As Efficient Fenton-like Catalyst for Enhanced Degradation of Sulfamethazine.

Abstract:A novel Fenton-like catalyst, metal organic framework MIL-100(Fe) with FeII/FeIII mixed-valence coordinatively unsaturated iron center (CUS-MIL-100(Fe)), was synthesized, characterized, and used for the degradation of sulfamethazine (SMT). The catalytic performance of CUS-MIL-100(Fe) was investigated on the basis of various parameters, including initial pH, H2O2 concentration, catalyst dosage, and initial SMT concentration. The results showed that CUS-MIL-100(Fe) could effectively degrade SMT, with almost 100% removal efficiency within 180 min (52.4% mineralization efficiency), under the reaction conditions of pH 4.0, 20 mg L-1 SMT, 6 mM H2O2, and 0.5 g L-1 catalyst. Moreover, CUS-MIL-100(Fe) displayed a higher catalytic activity than that of MIL-100(Fe) for SMT degradation. Combined with the physical-chemical characterization, the enhanced catalytic activity can be ascribed to the incorporation of FeII and FeIII CUSs (coordinatively unsaturated metal sites), the large specific surface area, as well as the formation of mesopores. Furthermore, CUS-MIL-100(Fe) exhibited a good stability and reusability. The possible catalytic mechanism of CUS-MIL-100(Fe) was tentatively proposed.

Abstract:In this study, Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were synthesized, characterized and used for the degradation of sulfamethazine (SMT). The results showed that Fe3O4 MNPs were efficient and reusable heterogeneous catalytic for SMT degradation in a Fenton-like system. More than 80% of the SMT was degraded under optimal conditions: initial pH of 3.0, 20 mM of H2O2, Fe3O4 MNPs dose of 1.0 g/L, and initial concentration of SMT 20 mg/L (initial total organic carbon: 10.4 mg/L). Among the parameters that affect SMT degradation, initial pH is of crucial importance to degrade SMT in the Fenton-like system. A possible pathway of SMT degradation was proposed based on detected products in the solution. The Fe3O4 MNPs exhibited high stability and reusability. The SMT removal remained at 80% over five runs with the catalyst. Slight agglomeration and dissolution of Fe3O4 MNPs after reactions were observed by X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy analysis. The SMT removal and mineralization could be enhanced using Fe3O4 MNPs/powder-activated carbon (PAC) composite as catalyst. The removal efficiency of SMT and TOC increased to 94.7% and 80.8% in optimal conditions, respectively, in Fenton-like system catalyzed by Fe3O4 MNPs/PAC composite. Abstract:Ce substituted goethite (Ce0.1Fe0.9OOH) was prepared by isomorphous substitution method and used for the catalytic ozonation of sulfamethazine (SMT). The results showed that acidic and neutral pH is beneficial for SMT mineralization. The mineralization efficiency of SMT was enhanced obviously in the presence of catalyst. Major degradation products of SMT during catalytic ozonation process were quantified and compared at acidic or basic conditions. Among the intermediates, 2-amine-4,6-dimethylpyrimidin accounted for high proportion. The small-molecule organic acids accumulated, which can inhibit the degradation reaction by lowering solution pH value. Based on the competitive degradation results of the intermediates and SMT, the possible pathways for SMT degradation by catalytic ozonation were tentatively proposed.

Abstract:In this paper, Fe3O4-Mn3O4/reduced graphene oxide (RGO) hybrid was synthesized through polyol process and impregnation method and used as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalyst for degradation of sulfamethazine (SMT) in aqueous solution. The hybrid catalyst had higher catalytic efficiency compared with Fe3O4-Mn3O4 and Mn3O4 as catalyst for degradation of SMT. The effects of pH value, H2O2 concentration, catalyst dosage, initial SMT concentration and temperature on SMT degradation were investigated. The removal efficiency of SMT was about 98% at following optimal conditions: pH=3, T=35°C, Fe3O4/Mn3O4-RGO composites=0.5g/L, H2O2=6mM. The inhibitor experiments indicated that the main active species was hydroxyl radicals (·OH) on catalyst surface. At last, the possible catalytic mechanism was proposed.
Photocatalytic Activity of Zero-Valent Iron Nanoparticles Highly Dispersed on Porous Carbon Materials

Abstract:During the traditional homogeneous Fenton reaction process for water treatment, the consumption rate constant of Fe2+ is much greater than its regeneration rate constant, which makes Fe2+ an almost stoichiometric loss and produces iron sludge waste. In this article, highly dispersed zero-valent Fe nanoparticles loaded on porous carbon materials (Fe-EMC) were synthesized by a one-step calcination method using Flammulina velutipes natural carbon source and Fe(NO3)3 as raw materials to solve the aforementioned problem. The as-prepared Fe-EMC materials are characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalyzer, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and N2 adsorption–desorption measurements. It exhibits excellent photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dyes under a broad pH region. Under conditions of 0.3 g/L Fe-EMC, 0.2 M/L H2O2, pH 7.0–11.0, and 50 mg/L MB, 97.98% of the MB dyes in the solution were completely degraded within 1 h. It was attributed to the efficient regeneration cycle between Fe2+ and Fe3+ in the Fenton-like system with light irradiation, which can promote the generation of active oxygen species.
MOF-derived Three-Dimensional Flower-Like FeCu@C Composite As an Efficient Fenton-like Catalyst for Sulfamethazine Degradation

Abstract:In this paper, a novel three-dimensional flower-like Fenton-like catalyst with iron-copper bimetallic NPs within the mesoporous carbon shell (FeCu@C) was successfully prepared through a simple pyrolysis of a [Fe,Cu]-BDC precursor and applied for catalytic degradation of sulfamethazine (SMT) in the presence of H2O2. The FeCu@C catalyst showed a 100% SMT removal within 90 min and a 72.3% total organic carbon (TOC) conversion within 240 min under the conditions of 20 mg L-1 SMT, 0.25 g L-1 FeCu@C, 1.5 mM H2O2, and initial solution pH 3.0. Combined with the characterization results, we proposed that the unique structure and composition of FeCu@C enable the catalyst to exhibit outstanding adsorption capability and catalytic performance in SMT degradation by H2O2 activation. The porous flower-like carbon matrix not only favors the rapid diffusion of reactants towards the internal bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs), but also offers specific adsorption for the enrichment of SMT molecules from bulk solution through pi - pi interaction. In addition, the iron and copper species existing in the inner bimetallic NPs are available active sites for a Fenton reaction, and a possible synergistic effect between them could facilitate the generation of additional center dot OH radicals to enhance SMT degradation. Moreover, the accumulation (i.e. adsorption) of SMT molecules on the surface of FeCu@C could increase their contact probability with the center dot OH radicals generated from H2O2 decomposition, further enhancing the reaction efficiency. With its high-magnetization properties, FeCu@C can be magnetically recovered and reused in SMT degradation. Furthermore, the possible reaction mechanism of the FeCu@C/H2O2 system and SMT degradation pathways were also tentatively proposed.

Abstract:The kinetics and catalytic mechanism of sulfamethazine (SMT) degradation using Fe3O4/Mn3O4 nanocomposite as catalysts in heterogeneous Fenton-like process were investigated. The degradation process of SMT conformed to first-order kinetic model. The apparent activation energy (Ea) of the process was calculated to be 40.5 kJ/mol. The reusability and stability of the catalysts were evaluated based on the results of the successive batch experiments. The intermediates were identified and quantified by ion chromatography (IC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results suggested that the bonds of S–C, N–C, and S–N were broken mainly by ·OH attack to form the organic compounds, which were gradually decomposed into small-molecule organic acids, such as oxalic acid, propionic acid, and formic acid. The possible catalytic mechanism for SMT degradation was tentatively proposed.

Abstract:The effective treatment of antibiotic wastewater is necessary to the cleaner production of many industries. Herein, a novel catalyst of biochar-supported nano zero-valent iron-copper (nZVI/Cu@BC) was synthesized, which showed more efficient activation of peroxydisulfate (PDS) for sulfamethazine (SMZ) degradation than the catalyst before nZVC doping, from 77.81% to 96.44%. And it was found to be mainly owing to the role of Fe(IV) and electron transfer induced by doped Cu. Specifically speaking, the doped Cu caused over an order of magnitude increase in Fe(IV) formation from 1.84×10 −10 M to 4.75 × 10 −9 M. And the more significant electron transfer between nZVI/Cu@BC, PDS and SMZ was confirmed by series electrochemical tests. In contrast, the formation of SO 4 ·- and OH was still at a low concentration, playing a small role. The different activation mechanisms were identified to be that doped Cu provided Cu(I)/Cu(II) cycle to accelerate Fe(II)/Fe(III) cycle for enhanced PDS activation. Besides, the Fe 0 /Cu 0 co-active sites appeared on the material surface after nZVC doping, exhibiting a stronger interaction with PDS. Therefore, nZVI/Cu@BC performed better under a wider pH range as well as complex water environment, and eliminated the toxicity of SMZ due to the nonradical-dominant process. This work provides a new insight into the rational design of nano zero-valent metals for efficient wastewater treatment to ensure cleaner production.

Abstract:A novel Fenton-like catalyst (Zn-Fe-CNTs) capable of converting O2 to H2O2 and further to OH was prepared through infiltration fusion method followed by chemical replacement in argon atmosphere. The catalyst was characterized by SEM, EDS, TEM, XRD and XPS. The reaction between Zn-Fe-CNTs and O2 in aqueous solution could generate H2O2 in situ, which was further transferred to OH. The Fenton-like degradation of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) using Zn-Fe-CNTs as catalyst was evaluated. The results indicated that Zn-Fe-CNTs had a coral porous structure with a BET area of 51.67m2/g, exhibiting excellent adsorption capacity for SMX, which enhanced its degradation. The particles of Zn0 and Fe0/Fe2O3 were observed on the surface of Zn-Fe-CNTs. The mixture of Zn0 and CNTs could reduce O2 into H2O2 by micro-electrolysis and Fe0/Fe2O3 could catalyze in-situ generation of H2O2 to produce OH through Fenton-like process. When initial pH=1.5, T=25°C, O2 flow rate=400mL/min, Zn-Fe-CNTs=0.6g/L, SMX=25mg/L and reaction time=10min, the removal efficiency of SMX and TOC was 100% and 51.3%, respectively. The intermediates were detected and the possible pathway of SMX degradation and the mechanism of Zn-Fe-CNTs/O2 process were tentatively proposed.

Abstract:Sulfonamide antibiotics are ubiquitous pollutants in aquatic environments due to their large production and extensive application. In this paper, the iron doped fibrous-structured silica (KCC-1) nanospheres (Fe-KCC-1) was prepared, characterized, and applied as a catalyst for catalytic ozonation of sulfamethazine (SMT). The effects of ozone dosage, catalyst dosage, and initial concentration of SMT were examined. The experimental results showed that Fe-KCC-1 had large surface area (464.56 m2 g−1) and iron particles were well dispersed on the catalyst. The catalyst had high catalytic performance especially for the mineralization of SMT, with mineralization ratio of about 40% in a wide pH range. With addition of Fe-KCC-1, the ozone utilization increased nearly two times than single ozonation. The enhancement of SMT degradation was mainly due to the surface reaction, and the increased mineralization of SMT was due to radical mechanism. Fe-KCC-1 was an efficient catalyst for SMT degradation in catalytic ozonation system.
Synergistic Effect of S Doping and Partial CE Substitution Based on Pba Derivative Catalysts to Accelerate Fe(Iii)/Fe(Ii) Cycle in the Fenton-Like Process

Abstract:The design of metal-organic framework-derived metal oxides/sulfides is an effective approach for water remediation. A series of Fe-Ce composites (Fe-Ce-S-N) with nanocluster-like morphology were prepared with prussian blue analogue (PBA) as the precursor in a hydrothermal process. The formation of desirable morphology with the mixed phases of FeS, CeS and FeCe2O4 endowed the catalysts with multiple active sites and synergistic catalytic properties. The optimized Fe-Ce-S-N catalyst exhibited superior catalytic activity towards sulfamethoxazole(SMZ) degradation (18.63 mgSMZ gcat.-1 min-1), showing the largest k value (0.1862 min-1), which was 2.1 and 8.1 times higher than that of Fe-Ce-S-H and Fe-Ce-N, respectively. Moreover, the Fe-Ce-S-N catalyst displayed the remarkable reusability, stability and adaptability in Fenton-like systems. Overall, this work provides new insights into extending novel PBA-derived catalysts to significantly improve heterogeneous Fenton-like performances.
Synthesis of Ce/BiFeO 3 composites and activation of persulfate for pharmaceutical wastewater degradation

Abstract:Sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) is a prevalent and recalcitrant micropollutant in water, posing a significant threat to both aquatic organisms and human health. Therefore, investigating the removal of SMZ is of critical importance. In order to investigate the effect of rare earth metal doping on the performance of activated persulfate oxidative degradation of SMZ, BiFeO 3 with different Ce doping amounts was successfully prepared by a hydrothermal method. Then, it was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method. The performance of porous Ce/BiFeO 3 in the catalytic activation of persulfate (PMS) for the degradation of SMZ in water was investigated using SMZ solution as a simulated wastewater. The impact of Ce doping rate, catalyst dosage, temperature variations, common anions, natural organic matter, and PMS concentration on SMZ removal was systematically evaluated. The characterization results show that the octahedral rhombic structure of Ce can be observed on the surface of this doped catalyst, and Ce doping does not change the crystalline shape of Ce/BiFeO 3 . The specific surface area of the doped catalyst increases, accompanied by an enlargement of pore size, thereby enhancing the catalyst's adsorption capacity and resistance to contamination by SMZ. Under the optimal conditions of 25 °C, SMZ concentration of 20 mg/L, 0.8 g/L PMS and 0.3 g/L 0.05Ce/BiFeO 3 catalyst, the removal rate of SMZ reaches approximately 95% within 35 min of reaction time. Even after five cycles of reuse, the degradation rate of SMZ remains above 88%, demonstrating the catalyst's good stability and reusability. Bursting experiments show that SO 4 ·– , ·OH, 1 O 2 and O 2 ·– are involved in the catalytic degradation process, with 1 O 2 playing a dominant role. Graphical abstract BiFeO 3 composites with different Ce doping amounts were successfully prepared. The specific surface of the doped catalyst increases, accompanied by an enlargement of pore size, thereby enhancing the environmental adaptability. Electrochemical mineralization of antibiotic ceftazidime with SnO2-Al2O3/CNT anode: Enhanced performance by peroxydisulfate/Fenton activation and degradation pathway

Abstract:Sol-gel synthesis of a novel SnO2-Al2O3/CNT anode was conducted and adopted to the electrocatalyzing decomposition of aqueous ceftazidime in this study. The physical structure and chemical composition were observed and characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results present SnO2 and Al2O3 nanoparticles were uniformly and compactly distributed on the carbon nanotubes, which is recognized to contributing to the recycling stability and catalytic activity improvements. The electrodeposited behaviors were investigated by cyclic voltammograms, linear sweep voltammograms and hydroxyl radical generation test, illustrating this anode exhibited excellent catalyzing properties with increased production of •OH radicals. The removal efficiency of ceftazidime was monitored with high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) and results indicated an enhancement from 40 % to nearly 90 % with SnO2-Al2O3/CNT anode. In addition, the activation by peroxydisulfate (PDS) and Fenton reaction improved the mineralization degree of ceftazidime, with 45.2 % TOC removal by adding 2 mM PDS and 55.1 % TOC removal by adding 2 mM Fe2+, compared with 40 % TOC removal by anodic oxidation alone. Although the mineralization rate of electrooxidation-PDS process was lower, it exhibited a broader pH stability range than electrooxidation-Fenton coupling process. The mechanism analysis indicate electrooxidation-PDS was dominated by SO4 − radicals, which is favored at basic solutions. The degradation intermediates were detected by liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer technology, and a complete degradation pathway was proposed. This method proves a simple, clean and efficient degradation method for removal of trace refractory pollutants in aqueous environment without the necessity of chemical recovery and pH adjustment.

Abstract:Sulfidation of nanoscale zerovalent iron (nZVI) has shown some fundamental improvements on reactivity and selectivity toward pollutants in dissolved-oxygen (DO)-stimulated Fenton-like reaction systems (DO/S-nZVI system). However, the pristine microstructure of sulfide-modified nanoscale zerovalent iron (S-nZVI) remains uncovered. In addition, the relationship between pollutant removal and the oxidation of the S-nZVI is largely unknown. The present study confirms that sulfidation not only imparts sulfide and sulfate groups onto the surface of the nanoparticle (both on the oxide shell and on flake-like structures) but also introduces sulfur into the Fe(0) core region. Sulfidation greatly inhibits the four-electron transfer pathway between Fe(0) and oxygen but facilitates the electron transfer from Fe(0) to surface-bound Fe(III) and consecutive single-electron transfer for the generation of H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> and hydroxyl radical. In the DO/S-nZVI system, slight sulfidation (S/Fe molar ratio = 0.1) is able to nearly double the oxidative removal efficacy of diclofenac (DCF) (from 17.8 to 34.2%), whereas moderate degree of sulfidation (S/Fe molar ratio = 0.3) significantly enhances both oxidation and adsorption of DCF. Furthermore, on the basis of the oxidation model of S-nZVI, the DCF removal process can be divided into two steps, which are well modeled by parabolic and logarithmic law separately. This study bridges the knowledge gap between pollutant removal and the oxidation process of chemically modified iron-based nanomaterials.

Abstract:The occurrence of pharmaceuticals and pesticides in water is of concern due to their hazardous effect on the environment. Such micropollutants deteriorate environmental quality and can induce antimicrobial resistance in pathogenic bacteria. Thus, removal of these emerging contaminants is a necessity and thus requires a clear understanding of the effective treatment and mechanistic approach utilized in degradation and removal. Frequently, treatment systems are optimized for the removal of contaminants while the formation of transformation products and their removal are not targeted. We utilized our established iron powder catalyzed Fe (0) Fenton Oxidation treatment to study the degradation of emerging contaminants — sulfamethoxazole, gabapentin, diuron, and triazine class pesticides. We used state-of-the-art mass spectrometry to establish the common oxidative mechanistic approach after identifying the transformation products formed during the Fe (0) Fenton Oxidation processes. Fenton transformed product was produced after 60 min reaction time when treatment was initiated after adding the optimized H2O2 and iron powder Fe (0)) in a micropollutant solution adjusted to pH 5. About 5-to-7 transformed products of each micropollutant were identified and predicted to have low toxicity risk to aquatic organisms. The oxidative degradation pathway of micropollutants illustrates the shared oxidative mechanism where the aliphatic chain of the heteroatom: Sulphur (R—S—R as thiosulphate), functional groups (R—C=O, R—COOR, R—NH2, R— NH=O—N) and alkyl chain present in the target compound was suggested as the prime region of hydroxyl radicle (•OH) attack. The tandem mass spectrometry estimated the evolution of sulfamethoxazole-transformed product formation and removal during the treatment. The informed optimization of Fe (0) Fenton treatment, confirmed through MS2 was established at 40 min reaction time at which both the sulfamethoxazole and its transformed product were reduced to trace levels (ngL-1).

Abstract:The design of metal-organic framework-derived metal oxides/sulfides is an effective approach for water remediation. A series of Fe-Ce composites (Fe-Ce-S-N) with cluster-like morphology were prepared with prussian blue analogue (PBA) as the precursor in a hydrothermal process. S doping promoted the conversion of Fe(III) to Fe(II), which greatly improved the performance of the Fenton-like reaction. The optimized Fe-Ce-S-N catalyst exhibited superior catalytic activity towards sulfamethoxazole(SMZ) degradation (18.63 mgSMZ gcat.-1 min-1), showing the largest k value (0.1862 min-1), which was 2.1 and 8.1 times higher than that of Fe-Ce-S-H and Fe-Ce-N, respectively. Moreover, the Fe-Ce-S-N catalyst displayed the remarkable reusability, stability and adaptability in Fenton-like systems. Overall, this work provides new insights into extending novel PBA-derived catalysts to significantly improve heterogeneous Fenton-like performances.
