Abstract:P-arsanilic acid (p-ASA), as a widely used feed additive, is potentially toxic to aquatic organisms and seriously affects the water environment. Therefore, the development of an intelligent multi-functional material for selective simultaneous detection and removal of p-ASA in water has become a top priority. Here, we report one case of novel nitrogen-rich two-dimensional metal-organic framework, Cu(I)-tpp (Htpp = 1-(4-(tetrazol-5-yl))3(pyrzin-2-yl) pyrazol), which has outstanding fluorescence emission at 655 nm; and nitrogen-rich sites exposed on the surface make it an excellent self-assembly template to induce the formation of heterostructures. According to the target requirements, ZIF-8 is selected to construct the Cu(I)-tpp@ZIF-8 heterostructure by liquid-phase epitaxy ignoring the lattice mismatch problem. And the electronic structure of the Cu(I)-tpp framework is analyzed by electrostatic potential (ESP) to determine the nucleation site of ZIF-8. The prepared Cu(I)-tpp@ZIF8 heterostructure assembles adsorption and fluorescence sensing properties, exhibiting significant adsorption (qmax = 303.0 mg g-1) and fluorescence quenching response (LOD = 0.4 mu gL- 1) for p-ASA. Notably, Cu(I)tpp@ZIF-8 achieves a special response to p-ASA that is different from other organic arsenic acids, especially compared with its isomer (o-ASA) and roxarsone (ROX). As a smart multifunctional material, Cu(I)-tpp@ZIF-8 realizes the specificity in the simultaneous detection and removal of p-ASA, presenting excellent application prospects in water quality monitoring.

Abstract:Herein, we report a solvent-free self-templating strategy for rapid synthesis of nanoscale hierarchically porous zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (HP-ZIF-8) with micro-, meso-, and macropores. ZIF-8 crystals were produced in situ on ZnO nanoparticles via vapor deposition of 2-methylimidazole, and hierarchical nanopores were obtained after selectively etching ZnO. ZnO nanoparticles acted as both a Zn source and a meso-/macropore template for HP-ZIF-8. Systematic arsenic adsorption experiments showed that the presence of meso-/macropores can effectively enhance and accelerate arsenic removal via chemisorption. As a result, HP-ZIF-8 exhibited an As(III) adsorption capacity of 104.9 mg/g, nearly double that of traditional ZIF-8 nanoparticles, despite having remarkably more micropores. This study provides a highly adsorbable strategy to fabricate hierarchical porous metal–organic frameworks for pollutant removal.

Abstract:Arsenic is prevalent in many natural systems and poses a great risk to human health. In this respect, a novel composite material with efficient removal of As(V) was reported, namely ZIF-8@CNDs, consisting of zeolite imidazolium framework-8 (ZIF-8) with a high surface area and carbon nanodots (CNDs) with abundant active groups. The synthesis of the nanostructure and the adsorption efficiency for As(V) were confirmed through chemical, morphological, phase analysis, specific surface area and point of zero charge. ZIF-8@CNDs was applied for the removal of As(V) in batch experiments. The results revealed that ZIF-8@CNDs exhibited the highest removal efficiencies for As(V) (94.12%), with a maximum adsorption capacity of 57.80 mg/g at the optimum conditions as follows: pH 6, 0.1 g/L ZIF-8@CNDs, 180 min, 298 K and a 1 mg/L initial As(V) concentration. The As(V) adsorption process by ZIF-8@CNDs followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and exhibited optimal fitting with the Langmuir isothermal adsorption model. Thermodynamic parameters revealed that the adsorption was spontaneous and exothermic. The adsorption mechanism of As(V) by ZIF-8@CNDs was proposed by analyzing macroscopic data and microscopic morphology. Electrostatic attraction and multifunctional groups (amino, carboxyl, amine and hydroxyl dissociable groups) played critical roles during the As(V) removal process. Overall, this investigation demonstrated ZIF-8@CNDs is a promising adsorbent to remove As(V) from polluted water and has great potential in remediating wastewater contained by organic arsenic and inorganic arsenic pollution.

Abstract:Mesoporous zirconia nanostructures (MZN) were synthesized by hydrothermal method to efficiently remove highly mobile and toxic arsenite (As(III)) and arsenate (As(V)) from aqueous solutions. The as-synthesized MZN were characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) techniques. The batch adsorption experimental results showed that the As(III) and As(V) removal capacities of the MZN were 105.03 and 110.29 mg/g, respectively, under neutral pH conditions, which were better than many recently reported adsorbents. The adsorption behavior of As(III) and As(V) on the MZN could be well described by pseudo-second-order and Langmuir isotherms models. Moreover, As(III) and As(V) adsorption on the MZN was spontaneous and endothermic. Some of the common co-existing ions had slightly affected the arsenic removal proficiency of MZN. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to investigate the adsorption mechanism of As(III) and As(V) on the as-synthesized MZN. The as-synthesized MZN demonstrated quite fast and good treatment of simulated real arsenic (As(III,V)) contaminated water. This study suggested that the as-synthesized MZN are potential candidate for practical applications of As(III) and As(V) removal from the aqueous solutions.
Magnetic Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks Composite As an Efficient Adsorbent for Arsenic Removal from Aqueous Solution.

Abstract:In this study, magnetic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-8) was prepared by a one-step method, where its evolution involved the coprecipitation reactions concomitant with the self-assembly reactions. Structural characterizations indicated that magnetic ZIF-8 showed irregular polyhedral morphology with a large specific surface area (696.5 m2/g) and saturation magnetization (4.31 emu/g). The as-prepared magnetic ZIF-8 enhanced the adsorption performance of As(III) and As(V), compared with bare Fe3O4. The pseudo second-order kinetic model (R2 = 0.9627 and 0.9893 for As(III) and As(V), respectively) and the Langmuir model (R2 = 0.9441 for As(III) and 0.9851 for As(V)) can fit the adsorption process well, confirming the nature of single-layer homogeneous chemisorption. The adsorption capacity was 30.87 and 17.51 mg/g, and their corresponding values of PC were 2.664 and 1.286 L/g, for As(III) and As(V), respectively. Solution pH showed an adverse effect on As(V) adsorption whereas no obvious effect on As(III). The ionic strength and coexisting ions had not obvious influence on adsorption of As(III) and As(V). The adsorption mechanism was explored and discussed based on the detailed spectroscopy analysis. This adsorbent can be recovered magnetically after use, which is promising for the practical application.

Abstract:Iron (Fe) oxides are the most commonly used adsorbent materials for the aqueous removal of Arsenic (As), but they have deficiencies, including low uptake and poor removal of the relatively higher toxicity As(III). Introduction of transition metals into Fe-containing adsorbents, an inexpensive method of altering Fe chemical states, is likewise of interest for removing As(III) from water by means of adsorption. Porous cubic Fe-Mn structures with BET surface area of 450 m g were herein prepared via chemical etching of Mn-substituted Prussian Blue analogues (PBAs). Cyclic voltammetry showed a "protective" role of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) during the preparation process, so that Mn with high valence state was readily preserved in this binuclear corner-sharing structure. The calculated reaction Gibbs free energy, which was the most negative of the studied adsorbents, indicated that the adsorption was promoted in the presence of high valence Mn. The structures were capable of directly capturing As(III) oxyanions to below the acceptable limits in drinking water standards, and the saturation uptake capacity of 460 mg g was substantially higher than comparable materials under consideration. The work therefore presents a new benchmark for As-adsorbent materials and demonstrates the promise of the porous Fe-Mn structure for rapid removal of other metal ions from contaminated water for environmental remediation.
Enhanced arsenite removal from water using zirconium-ferrocene MOFs coupled with peroxymonosulfate:oxidation and multi-sites adsorption mechanism

Abstract:The efficient removal of arsenite (As(III)) poses a significant challenge to traditional water treatment technologies due to its high toxicity and mobility. In this work, multifunctional Zirconium-Ferrocene Metal Organic Framework (ZrFc-MOF) fabricated with redox-active 1,1-ferrocene dicarboxylic acid ligands and Zr4+ precursors were elaborated to achieve remarkably enhanced As(III) removal via activation by peroxymonosulfate (PMS). The adsorption affinity coefficient increased from 0.097 to 2.035 L mg-1 and the maximum adsorption capacity increased from 59.79 to 111.34 mg g-1 compared with that without PMS. Besides the conventional homogeneous PMS oxidation and the following adsorption through Zr-O clusters of ZrFc-MOFs, the enhanced As(III) removal synergistic combines the oxidation mechanism of As(III) by reactive oxygen species (•OH, SO4•-, O2•- and 1O2) formed in Ferrocene (Fc) activating PMS process with the simultaneous formed extra adsorption sites of Ferrocenium (Fc+). PMS also help ZrFc-MOF to avoid destruction in harsh alkaline condition, making the effluent in this advanced treatment meet the World Health Organization (WHO) threshold of 10 μg L-1 over a wide range of initial pH (2-11) with high selectivity and durability. These results indicate that this novel Fc-based MOFs activating PMS system has potential applicability for As(III) in oxidation and selectively capturing in the water environment.
Facile Synthesis of Manganese Dioxide Nanoparticles for Efficient Removal of Aqueous As(III)

Abstract:The development of highly efficient adsorbents for arsenic removal remains a challenge. In this paper, we propose the facile synthesis of hydrous manganese dioxide (HMO) and investigate its application in removal of As(III). By controlling the ratio of precursors, HMOs with different |ZP| values were successfully synthesized. It is found that HMO with a smaller value of |ZP| achieves a higher arsenic removal rate. Adsorption efficiency is confirmed to be pH-dependent and directly related to the adsorbent dosage. In addition, thermodynamics analysis shows that the adsorption reaction appears to be spontaneous and is accompanied by exothermic phenomena. Furthermore, the removal process of As(III) has the best fitting effect by the Freundlich adsorption model and pseudo-secondary dynamics model, which reveal that the adsorption sites are evenly distributed in the adsorption process. The FT-IR and XPS analysis further proves that the arsenite ions and HMO adsorbents have first formed a complex through electrostatic interaction, which is further converted into a more stable internal structure by a redox reaction. The enhanced removal of arsenite from water by double-shell CuOx@MnOy hollow spheres (DCMHS): behavior and mechanisms

Abstract:To facilitate removing As(III) from water through an "oxidation-adsorption" process, the double-shell CuO x @MnO y hollow spheres (DCMHS) have been fabricated via a two-step co-precipitation route combined with the soft-template method. The surface characterization results showed that Mn oxides were formed without segregation and uniformly distributed on the surface of CuO x hollow spheres. DCMHS could achieve outstanding performance to remove As(III) with an As maximum adsorption capacity of 32.15 mg/g. Meanwhile, the kinetics results illustrated that the oxidative activity of DCMHS was strengthened due to its specific structure, and part of As(III) was converted to As(V) during the adsorption process. Also, air aeration could further enhance As(III) oxidation and thus improving As removal. The As(III) removal performance could be maintained under neutral and weak alkaline conditions. Phosphate, silicate, and carbonate anions could depress the removal performance, while chloride ions and sulfate anions barely influenced As removal. Moreover, DCMHS could be regenerated using NaOH and KMnO 4 solutions without breaking the hollow sphere structure. Based on the spectroscopic analysis results, As(III) molecules were converted to As(V) via two pathways, including the oxidation by Mn oxides or superoxide radicals. The Cu–Mn synergistic effect could not only enhance the oxidative activity of Mn oxides but also produce superoxide radicals via the activation of surface-adsorbed oxygen molecules. Afterwards, the newly formed As(V) could be attached to the hydroxyl groups through surface complexation. Therefore, this work has provided insights into the morphology design of Mn-oxide-containing adsorbents and supplemented the interface reaction mechanisms for enhancing As(III) removal.

Abstract:Arsenic (As) is one extremely hazardous and carcinogenic metalloid element. Due to mining, metal smelting, and other human activities, the pollution of water (especially groundwater) and soil caused by As is increasingly serious, which badly threatens the environment and human health. In this study, a zeolite imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) was synthesized at room temperature and employed as an adsorbent to facilitate the adsorption of As(III) and As(V) from the solution. The successful synthesis of ZIF-8 was demonstrated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that its particle size was approximately 80 nm. The adsorption kinetics, adsorption isotherm, solution pH, dose, coexisting ions, and the synonymous elements antimony (Sb) were conducted to study the adsorption of As by ZIF-8 nanoparticles. The maximum saturation adsorption capacity was determined to be 101.47 mg/g and 81.40 mg/g for As(III), and As(V) at initial pH = 7.0, respectively. Apparently, ZIF-8 had a good removal effect on As, and it still maintained a good performance after four cycles. The coexisting ions PO 4 3− and CO 3 2− inhibited the adsorption of both As(III) and As(V). ZIF-8 performed well in removing both As and Sb simultaneously, although the presence of Sb hindered the adsorption of both As(III) and As(V). Both FTIR and XPS indicated the adsorption mechanism of As on ZIF-8: ZIF-8 generates a large amount of Zn-OH on the surface through hydrolysis and partial fracture of Zn-N, both of which form surface complexes with As.

Simple construction of the α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 nanomaterial with highly enhanced U(VI) adsorption performance and assessed removal mechanism

Abstract:Highlights • The composite material α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 containing metal skeleton was successfully prepared by a simple method. • The large specific surface area and functional groups were the key factors reason for the excellent absorption ability of α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8. • At pH = 5, the maximum adsorption capacity of α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 for U(VI) was 802.36 mg/g. • The reaction mechanisms were electrostatic attraction and inner-sphere surface complexation. In this study, the one-dimensional nanomaterial α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 was satisfactorily fabricated using a simple hydrothermal method by modifying ZIF-8 on α-MnO 2 nanowires for high-performance extraction of U(VI) out of water solution. The experimental data indicated that the adsorption of U(VI) on α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 was intensely dependent on solution pH but not on ionic strength. The maximum adsorption of U(VI) on α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 at pH = 5.0 and T = 298 K was 802.36 mg/g, substantially higher than the adsorption on α-MnO 2 (22.32 mg/g) or ZIF-8(551.31 mg/g) under the same conditions, indicating that the performance of the modified α-MnO 2 was greatly enhanced. Attaining adsorption equilibrium within 45 min, the analytical kinetic process of α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 indicated that its adsorption on U(VI) was monolayer chemisorption. The adsorption experiments and XPS analyzed the possible adsorption mechanism of U(VI) in the reaction with α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 during the adsorption process, namely intra-sphere surface complexation, chemisorption and electrostatic interaction. The simple preparation and high removal efficiency of α-MnO 2 @ZIF-8 indicated that this adsorbent had good prospects for application in wastewater. Abstract:It has been ever attracting increasingly growing demand to develop highly efficient method of aqueous arsenites [As(III)] removal due to the high toxicity of arsenic in drinking water. This work presents an oil vine-like structural MIL-53(Fe) modified by nitrogen doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) with excellent As(III) removal property, which is achieved through the photocatalytic oxidation of the As(III) and simultaneous adsorbed the generated arsenate [As(V)]. The abilities of As(III) oxidation and removal efficiency for N-CQDs3/MIL-53(Fe) are over 6 times higher than that of pure MIL-53(Fe). The impressively capability of N-CQDs3/MIL-53(Fe) in photocatalytic oxidation and adsorption is attributed to the accelerated separation of photogenerated electron-hole by the in situ embedded N-CQDs. Moreover, the results of the experimental analysis and density functional theory (DFT) DFT calculations confirm that the edge structure of C/O site significantly improves the removal ability of As(III) by forming bidentate C-O-As bonds and occupying coordinatively unsaturated atoms. Therefore, based on the excellent performance and reusability of N-CQDs3/MIL-53(Fe) in As(III) removal, it offers a new potential strategy to develop high efficient MOF based materials for As(III) removal.

Abstract:Structurally defective UiO-66 has garnered significant interest due to its remarkable performance in the domains of adsorption and catalysis. In this research, the successful synthesis of Mn-doped defective UiO-66 (Mn 1 D 40 UiO-66) was confirmed by XRD and FTIR characterization. More than 95% of As( III ) ( C 0 = 1.1 mg L −1 ) was removed in 1 h ( C catalyst = 0.2 g L −1 , C PMS = 0.1 mM). Compared with the original UiO-66, when coupled with peroxymonosulfate (PMS), Mn 1 D 40 UiO-66 accelerated the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), resulting in an increase in As( III ) removal efficiency by about 50%. XPS spectra and EXAFS spectra indicated that As( III ) adsorbed in the Mn 1 D 40 UiO-66/PMS system was fully oxidized to As( V ) and the adsorption was attributed to As–O–Zr coordination. Several types of ROS (·OH, SO 4 ̇ − , and O 2 ̇ − ) generated by PMS activation acted collectively on As( III ) oxidation, so a single ROS scavenger did not have a marked inhibitory effect on As( III ) removal. In addition, the system maintained efficiency over a broad pH range (3–11), and retained an arsenic removal rate higher than 89.8% even in the presence of high concentrations of several anions (SO 4 2− /Cl − /NO 3 − , 10 mM). Meanwhile, 99.3% of the As( III ) could be removed by Mn 1 D 40 UiO-66 at extremely high humic acid concentrations (100 mg L −1 ). Due to the excellent stability of the material, only trace amounts of metal leaching were detected (Mn ion ≤ 3 μg L −1 ) during the whole experiment. The whole oxidation and adsorption process demonstrated excellent anti-interference ability and stability. This study shows the great potential of transition metal doped defective metal–organic frameworks in the field of adsorption and catalysis and provides a novel idea for the high-efficiency management of As( III ) pollution in water environments.

Abstract:The removal of arsenic from contaminated water is important for environmental protection and drinking water safety worldwide. In this study, bimetallic metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with catalytic and adsorptive effects were synthesized and combined with peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for efficient As(III) oxidation and As(III)/As(V) removal. The molar ratio of Fe and Mn precursor was adjusted to balance the adsorption and catalytic processes of As(III) in the system. The results showed that among the Fe/Mn-MOFs and MIL-88(Fe) tested, the Fe/Mn-MOFs with an Fe/Mn molar ratio of 1:1 (Fe 0.3 Mn 0.3 -MOFs) could achieve the best catalytic and adsorption performance with 98% removal of As(III). The performance of Fe 0.3 Mn 0.3 -MOFs in natural contaminated water was also verified. Electron spin resonance detection and quenching experiments have revealed that trivalent arsenic oxidation is facilitated primarily by a non-radical process through singlet oxygen. Density-functional theory, XPS and FTIR analyses reveal the structures, corresponding binding energies and binding sites for the adsorption of As(III)/As(V) by Fe 0.3 Mn 0.3 -MOFs. The coupling of Fe 0.3 Mn 0.3 -MOFs to the PMS system was still able to achieve 78% arsenic removal after five cycles, showing good reliability and effectiveness in arsenic removal. This study provides a new insight into the catalytic and adsorption mechanisms in MOFs/PMS systems and provides a theoretical basis for the application of MOFs in the remediation of arsenic contaminated water.

Abstract:A water-stable bimetallic Fe/Zr metal-organic framework [UiO-66(Fe/Zr)] for exceptional decontamination of arsenic in water was fabricated through a facile one-step strategy. The batch adsorption experiments revealed the excellent performances with ultrafast adsorption kinetics due to the synergistic effects of two functional centers and large surface area (498.33 m<sup>2</sup>/g). The absorption capacity of UiO-66(Fe/Zr) for arsenate [As(V)] and arsenite [As(III)] reached as high as 204.1 mg/g and 101.7 mg/g, respectively. Langmuir model was suitable to describe the adsorption behaviors of arsenic on UiO-66(Fe/Zr). The fast kinetics (adsorption equilibrium in 30 min, 10 mg/L As) and pseudo-second-order model implied the strong chemisorption between arsenic ions and UiO-66(Fe/Zr), which was further confirmed by DFT theoretical calculations. The results of FT-IR, XPS analysis and TCLP test demonstrated that arsenic was immobilized on the surface of UiO-66(Fe/Zr) through Fe/Zr-O-As bonds, and the leaching rates of the adsorbed As(III) and As(V) from the spent adsorbent were only 5.6% and 1.4%, respectively. UiO-66(Fe/Zr) can be regenerated for five cycles without obvious removal efficiency decrease. The original arsenic (1.0 mg/L) in lake and tap water was effectively removed in 2.0 hr [99.0% of As(III) and 99.8% of As(V)]. The bimetallic UiO-66(Fe/Zr) has great potentials in water deep purification of arsenic with fast kinetics and high capacity.

Abstract:The nanometer effect in the process of arsenic ions removal on α-MnO2 nano-surface is studied by the first-principle method through microfacet models. Several parameters, such as adhesion energy, electrostatic potential, and Mulliken population were calculated to illuminate the internal mechanism. The results show that the adsorption energies of As(OH)3 molecules on MnO2[(100×110)] nanostructure are smaller than that on the bulk surface with the same concentration, which means the nanometer effect is beneficial to enhance the adsorption ability of MnO2 nano-surface. In an aqueous solution, there exist two possible removal ways of As ions. One is the direct reaction of As(OH)3→As(OH)6-, which occurs both in bulk surface and nano-surface. However, to nanomaterials, there exists another removal way of As(OH)3→As(OH)4→As(OH)6- through an intermediate As(OH)4 molecule produced by nanometer effect. Furthermore the smaller electrostatic potential of As ions on [(100×110)] nano-surface is beneficial to enhance the removal capability of As ions. Then the reason why MnO2 nanomaterials have better catalytic activity than the bulk materials is originated from its much less adhesion energy, much more removal ways, and much smaller electrostatic potential. So this research provides a detailed understanding of the removal capability of toxic ions influenced by a nanometer effect.

Abstract:Efficient removal of As(III) from groundwater remains an urgent but still challenging task. The X-Mn (X = Fe, Zr, Al ... ) binary oxide nanoparticles enable simultaneous oxidation and sequestration of As(III), yet facing the challenges in facile synthesis of the ultra-small nanoparticles with extraordinary decontamination reactivity, and in effective regeneration of oxidation capability. Herein, we prepared a novel nanocomposite Zr-Mn@N201 by conducting stepwise precipitation of hydrated oxides of zirconium (HZO) and manganese (HMO) inside the commercial gel-type anion exchanger N201, i.e., the quaternary ammoniated poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) bead. Owing to restriction of nanopores, the HZO/HMO inside N201 possessed an ultra-small size around 4.78 nm. The kinetics and spectroscopic results suggested that As(III) was transformed into As(V) by HMO prior to adsorption onto HZO, and the negatively charged HMO captured most of the produced Mn2+ ions. Alkaline treatment could regenerate Zr-Mn@N201 through simultaneously desorbing As(V) and transforming Mn2+ into HMO again. During a 10-cyclic adsorption-regeneration assay, Zr-Mn@N201 could steadily reduce As(III) from 500 mu g/L to < 10 mu g/L with negligible HMO loss (< 0.3%) in each run. In fixed-bed assays, the integration of HMO increased the effective treatment amounts of the Zr-Mn@N201 column toward the realistic groundwater by -11.5 times over the single nano-HZO (i.e., HZO@N201) column, reaching to -4600 bed volume with < 1% HMO loss.

Abstract:In this study, MnPc intercalated Zn/Fe layered double hydroxides (MnPc/ZF−LDH) were synthesized by pillared intercalation modification with different MnPc intercalation amounts and used for the selective transformation and removal of As(III) from the arsenate-phosphate mixed solution. Fe−N bonds were constructed by the complexation of MnPc and iron ions on the Zn/Fe layered double hydroxides (ZF−LDH) interface. The DFT calculation results show that the binding energy of Fe−N bonded to arsenite (−3.75 eV) was higher than that of phosphate (−3.16 eV), resulting in MnPc/ZnFe−LDH exhibiting high As(III) selective adsorption performance and anchoring it rapidly in the arsenite -phosphate mixed solution. The maximum adsorption capacity of 1MnPc/ZF−LDH for As(III) could reach 180.7 mg·g −1 under dark conditions. MnPc also acts as a photosensitizer to provide more active species for the photocatalytic reaction. A series of experiments demonstrated that MnPc/ZF−LDH exhibits high As(III) selective photocatalytic performance. A total of 10 mg·L −1 of As(III) was completely removed in the reaction system within 50 min in a single As(III) environment. In an environment with As(III) and PO 4 3− , it achieved 80.0 % removal efficiency of As(III) and showed a good reuse effect. The introduction of MnPc could improve the utilization of visible light by the MnPc/ZnFe−LDH. The singlet oxygen generated from photoexciting MnPc leads to abundant ZnFe−LDH interface OH. In addition, MnPc/ZnFe−LDH shows good recyclability, making it a promising multifunctional material for the purification of arsenic-polluted sewage.
