Abstract:An efficient annulation of vinyl azides with activated imines has been developed for the synthesis of poly-functionalized imidazole derivatives. This reaction includes thermal decomposition of vinyl azides to 2H-azirines, nucleophilic attack of 2H-azirines with activated imines and subsequent cyclization to desired imidazoles.

Abstract:Novel divergent domino annulation reactions of sulfur ylides with aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates have been developed, affording various tetra- and trisubstituted pyrazole derivatives in moderate to good yields. Three molecules of sulfur ylides were applied as C1 synthon to construct the complex products with five new chemical bonds formed in these one-pot reactions.

Abstract:A tunable copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC)-initiated multicomponent reaction strategy for the construction of 3-functionalized indolin-2-ones is reported. Upon controlling the ring opening of four-membered O-heterocyclic intermediates, this unique method enables the divergent derivatization of N-protected isatins to give three-component (3-CR) and four-component (4-CR) adducts, respectively.

Abstract:A convenient and efficient Cu(OAc)2-mediated N-heteroannulation reaction of [60]fullerene with N-sulfonylated o-amino-aromatic methyl ketones or O-alkyl oximes has been reported for the synthesis of novel and scarce [60]fullerene-fused tetrahydroazepinones and -azepinonimines in a highly selective manner. Abstract:3-Azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexanes are common structural components in natural products and bioactive compounds. Traditionally, the metal-mediated cyclopropanation domino reaction of chain enzymes is the most commonly used strategy for the construction of this type of aza[3.1.0]bicycle derivative. In this study, a base-promoted intramolecular addition of alkenes used to deliver conformationally restricted highly substituted aza[3.1.0]bicycles is reported. This reaction was tailor-made for saturated aza[3.1.0] bicycle-containing fused bicyclic compounds that may be applied in the development of concise and divergent total syntheses of bioactive compounds.

Abstract:Herein, we develop a base-promoted regioselective synthesis of N-vinyl pyrazoles from vinyl sulfonium salts with diazo compounds. This metal-free synthetic protocol provides an efficient and practical approach to diverse N-vinyl pyrazoles in good to excellent yields under mild conditions. The reaction appears to experience a [3 + 2] annulation of vinyl sulfonium salts and diazo anions rather than diazo compounds, followed by N-vinylation.

Abstract:The lower-rim formylated azacalix[4]pyrimidine underwent transannular Friedel–Crafts and dehydrogenative cross coupling reactions to afford, respectively, 2,4,5,7-tetraaza-9,10-dihydroacridine and -dihydroacridin-9-one containing azacalix[3]aromatics. Dihalogenation of the later compound produced resolvable inherently chiral azacalix[3]aromatics.

Abstract:Tri- and tetrasubstituted N–H pyrroles were prepared by the simple treatment of vinyl azides with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in toluene at 100°C via 2H-azirine intermediates generated in situ. When the reactions of vinyl azides and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds were performed in DMF in the presence of a catalytic amount of K2CO3, 1-vinyl-1,2,3-triazoles were obtained via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. These methodologies exploited orthogonal modes of chemical reactivity of vinyl azides, which could be achieved by slight modification of the reaction conditions.

Abstract:Two reagent-controlled regiodivergent annulation protocols for Achmatowicz products with vinylogous nucleophiles have been developed, which furnished a series of bicyclic cyclopenta[b]pyrans and 8-oxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane derivatives in 28-90% yields. Abstract:An unprecedented silver-promoted regioselective (4 + 1) annulation of isocyanoacetates with pyridinium salts is reported. The established protocol provides controlled, facile, and modular access to a range of synthetically useful N-fused heterocyclic scaffolds containing indolizines, pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinolines, pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines, and 1H-imidazo[4,5-a]indolizin-2(3H)-ones. Abstract:An efficient metal-free annulative vinylene transfer protocol for the synthesis of benzo-fused indolizines via 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions of N-ylides with vinylene carbonate has been developed. Vinylene carbonate serves as an acetylene surrogate without any external oxidant involved. This transformation leads to the direct construction of versatile benzo-fused indolizine derivatives in moderate to good yields.

Abstract:A novel method for the stereoselective synthesis of (Z)-4-(2-bromovinyl)benzenesulfonyl azide by simultaneous azidation and debrominative decarboxylation of anti-2,3-dibromo-3-(4-chlorosulfonylphenyl)propanoic acid using NaN3 only was developed. Facile transformation of (Z)-4-(2-bromovinyl)benzenesulfonyl azide to (Z)-N-[4- (2-bromovinyl)benzenesulfonyl]imidates was also achieved by Cu-catalyzed three-component coulping of (Z)-4-(2-bromovinyl)benzenesulfonyl azide, terminal alkynes and alcohols/phenols.

Abstract:Highly functionalized quinolines and pyridines could be synthesized by BF3⋅OEt2-mediated reactions of vinyl azides with N-aryl and N-alkenyl aldimines, respectively. The reaction mechanism could be characterized as formal [4+2]-annulation, including unprecedented enamine-type nucleophilic attack of vinyl azides to aldimines and subsequent nucleophilic cyclization onto the resulting iminodiazonium ion moieties.
