Abstract:AIM: To investigate the prevalence rate of hypertension and analyze the clustering of hypertension, hyperglycemia and abnormal blood lipid of hypertensive population in Harbin Electric Power Bureau. METHODS: Physical examination for staffs in Harbin Electric Power Bureau was carried out in Heilongjiang Provincial Electrical Hospital between June and November 2004. Data of 2 103 (91.47%) (Male: 1 480, Female: 623) of 2 299 staff were included in the analysis, excluding who did not carry out physical examination or without complete data. Average age of subjects was 40±9 (21-61 years), and 38±8 (22-63 years) for males and females, respectively. Subjects who were older than 40 years were measured in triglyceride, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, beside blood pressure and glucose. 1 189 were over 40 years, 1 160 (97.56%)of them were qualified for analysis (Male: 877, Female: 283), excluding who did not carry out physical examination or without complete data. RESULTS: 2 103 receiving investigational people were all involved in the result analysis. ①The prevalence of hypertension in 588 population was 27.96%, prevalence of 508 males (34.32%) was higher significantly than that of 80 females (12.84%) (χ2 = 100.461,P < 0 .01). ②The prevalence of hypertension increased with age, male's was higher than that of female's. ③The proportion of optimal blood pressure in males was lower than that of females in the normal population. By contrast, the proportion of pre-hypertension in males was higher than that of female. The constituent ratio of stage Ⅰ hypertension was higher than that of stage Ⅱ hypertension and the constituent ratio of stage Ⅱ hypertension was higher than that of stage Ⅲ hypertension, whereas the constituent ratio of isolated systolic hypertension was minimum in the hypertensive patients. ④The prevalence rate of stage Ⅰ hypertension in 266 (12.65%) males and 43 (2.04%) females had significant difference (χ2 =173.696,P < 0.01). The prevalence rate of stage Ⅱ hypertension in 162 (7.70%) males and 26(1.24%)females had significant difference (χ2 =102.986,P < 0.01). The prevalence rate of stage Ⅲ hypertension in 46 (2.19%) males and 6 (0.28%) females had significant difference (χ2 =31.154,P < 0.01). The prevalence rate of stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ of hypertension in males was higher than that of females, and higher over 6 times, and had marked difference. ⑤449 (38.71%) were hypertension patients aged over 40 male: 384 (43.79%), female: 65 (22.99%) . The prevalence rate of hypertension in males was markedly higher than that of females (χ2 =39.083,P < 0.01). ⑥The correlation analysis showed that correlation coefficient was not significant between blood pressure, glucose and blood lipids in the patients with hypertension aged over 40 years. The clustering analysis demonstrated that the proportion of patients with hypertension, hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia accounted for patients with hypertension were 18.04%; hypertension, hyperglycemia and high total cholesterol accounted for patients with hypertension 17.15%; hypertension, hyperglycemia with low and high density lipoprotein choloesterol accounted for patients with hypertension 0.67%; hypertension, hyperglycemia with high and low density lipoprotein choloesterol accounted for patients with hypertension 12.92%. Four clustering above were significantly different in hypertension, hyperglycemia and different blood lipid (χ2 = 74.239, P < 0.01), and clustering of males was higher obviously than that of females. CONCLUSION: The prevalence rate of hypertension of the population in the Harbin Electric Power Bureau was 27.96%. It increased apparently in Harbin Electric Power staff aged over 40 years; the prevalence rate of males is higher than that of females in every age-group. The patients with hypertension have clustering of hypertension, hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia. These patients should be the target population of prevention and intervention of risk factor of cardiovascular disease.
