Abstract:Hulun Lake is the largest and most northern lake in northeast of China. The lake level fluctuation, peat development and eolian sand-paleosoil sedimentation have been the obvious feature of environmental evolution around Hulun Lake since 13ka. Comparison of time series of lake level fluctuation, peat development and eolian sand-paleosoil sedimentation and the relationship with paleoclimate indicates that paleoclimatic changes have important impacts on lake level fluctuation, peat development and eolian sand-paleosoil sedimentation. During the early Holocene(10000-7200aB.p.),the paleoclimate was changed from cold dry to warm dry and companyed with the intensified eolian sand activity, lightened peat development and low lake level. In the period of 7000-5000aB.P., the paleoclimate was warm-humid and the paleosoils, peat development came to the heyday, lake level was high in the same period. During the period of 5000-3000aB.P.,the climate was changed to warm-dry and corresponded with the intensified eolian sand activity, lightened peat development and low lake level. In the past 3000 years the paleoclimate in the Hulun Lake area was cold-dry and the eolian sand activity was intensified.
