Abstract:The study was to investigate and analyze the needs and problems in colleges' academic training of psychological counselors and psychological therapists at present.22 universities were selected from East China,West China,South China,North China,and Central China,information on the curriculum and internship training were collected,and the results were analyzed and compared with developed countries.We found a large gap between us and the developed countries.The main problems in the undergraduate training were as follows: the relationship between the professional required course and the professional elective course was improperly handled in a small number of schools;training in the courses of Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology were inadequate in some universities;there was no ethics training in the great majority of universities.The post-graduate course was imperfect,and should be particularly strengthened in the following areas: science and ethics,the biological basis of behavior,the cognitive and emotional basis of behavior,the personal and professional development of clinical and counseling psychologists,the theory and practice of psychological assessment and psychological diagnosis of counseling and therapy schools.The problems with the internship training of both undergraduates and post-graduates were that the content of the internship was not comprehensive and the time was short.Besides,the training mode of undergraduates was also worthy of further study.
