Automatic Tap Setting of Arc-Extinction Coil by EMS

Abstract:In sub transmission power system,the neutral-point of a transformer is often connected to the ground by an arc-extinction coil.So in EMS (Energy Management System),especially in DMS (Distribution Management System),it is important to avoid natural resonance point by reasonably setting the tap position.This paper presents a method to automatically set the tap of arc-extinc-tion coils.In order to improve the reliability of the setting strategy,the paper also proposes an extended method to includeN-1verification in considering automatic devices.Practical simulation and calculations show that the method can give a reasonable setting strategy for dispatcher.
