Abstract:IAS brown Layers at 25-35 weeks of age were randomly allotted into four treatment groups to study the effects of dietary manganese and calcium levels on performance and egg quality. A maize and soy-bean meal basal diet containing manganese 15 mg/kg and Calcium 3.5% was supplied, that was supplemented with manganese of 30 mg/kg, 90 mg/kg and 180 mg/kg from manganese sulfate and calcium of 0%, 0.5% from shell powder. The results showed that the quantity of dietary manganese affected the hatching rate, broken rate of eggs, dietary efficiency, strength, thickness and chemical compositions of egg shell(P0.01 or P0.05); Calcium Levels added didn′t affect the performance and egg quality (P0.05). These meant that layers performance and egg quality were assured when 90 mg/kg manganese was added into the basal diet.
