Minimal Invasive Inner Ear Surgery and Its New Findings with Microendozcopy

Abstract:Purpose A new development of minimal invasive surgery of inner ear by using microendoscopy. Methods Eighty-two cases of profound deafened patients who received cochlea implant and 40 cases of primary or secondary diseases involving inner ear underwent investigation and treatment with microendoscopy surgery. Microendoscope was inserted through small fenestration of inner ear via outer auditory canal or posterior tympanum approach. Results New findings of inner ear diseases, such as CSF fistula in dysplasia of inner ear, neogrowths and haemorrhagic focus as well as others were discovered with proper treatment. Conclusion Minimal-invasive inner ear surgery by using microendoscope gives more approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of inner ear diseases.
