Abstract:Now the CSCW system becomes more and more important.This paper introduces a multi-session CSCW (Computer Suporrted Cooperative Work) system,which can be used in different operating systems.We use Java to realize this system, and use three layer levels to describe it.

Then we present agent technology, which is important in cooperative system. At last, we explore some special concerns about developing cooperative CAD system in the CSCW environment.

Abstract:As a very important field of CSCW, cooperative edit systems have a rapid development in recent years. Many systems have appeared and put into use. But most of these systems have deficits, such as not supporting the brainstorm edit mode, not marking the users edit process and so on. We have done many things in these directions and have finished a Web-based Real-time Cooperative Edit System(WRCES). WRCES offers the consistency maintenance at the brainstorm edit mode, marking the users edit process and multimedia subsystem. In this paper, we introduce the architecture and the work model of this system.

Abstract:With the development of the computer network technology, thecomputer supported cooperative work (CSCW) system is becoming a popular research field. The system of Cooperative Computer Aided Design (CoopCAD) is a typical application system of CSCW. After introducing the basic concepts of CSCW, from the point of view of the system architecture, this paper presents a basic architecture of CSCW system which consists of five parts: the application subsystem, the information sharing platform, the cooperative work platform, the Collaborate platform, and the network transfer platform. Then this paper formally describes and systematically analyzes the function of each part. Finally, with an example of CoopCAD′ s application, discusses how to completely implement a real-time Cooperative Computer Aided Design system according to this architecture.

Abstract:The computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) techniques were briefed. The basic requirements for CSCW during the life cycle of a large scale complex simulation system (LSCSS) were analyzed, and an architecture of CSCW was designed for the developing team of LSCSS. A Lotus Domino TM based system implementation of the CSCW was presented for the developing team of LSCSS. Some critical problems solved in the development of the CSCW environment were introduced. This research had been applied in the new generation Distributed Interactive Simulation system development, resulting in great improvement in both solidarity and efficiency of the developing team.

Abstract:The main issue in designing the structure for CSCW systems is to provide efficient collaboration mechanisms. A hierarchical collaboration mechanism scheme was proposed which consists of three levels: system-oriented, application-oriented and operation object-oriented collaboration support. In accordance to this hierarchical collaboration mechanism, a platform-based architecture of CSCW systems was explored that can accommodate multiple cooperative applications. With providing all of the three-layer cooperation mechanisms, multimedia desktop conference system TH-MDCS can support geographically separative group members which are of different fields, seated at their desks, cooperating at the same time or at different time by means of sharing information in such multimedia forms as video, audio, image, graphics and text to carry out various tasks together.

Abstract:The Web-based real-time cooperative edit system is an efficient working paradigm of CSCW, and it offers a function of editing a document at the same time by multiusers through a Web browser. Modeling versions is one of the most important technologies of the system. According to the characteristics of cooperative work, we define the version, world, context, entity, current version and relationship to modeling version. Then four kinds of meetings are presented, and the different characteristics of their record versions are discussed. The multi-version, dynamic and inter-related properties of the versions in meetings are analyzed. According to the system's version model, an instance is given.

Abstract:According to the CSCW Cooperative mechanism, this paper presents a method ol. design and implementation of the Distributed Multimedia Collaboration System (DMCS) which is a prototype of CSCW but is built on a low cost and easy operating environment. The architecture of DMCS and a multiple layers software structure designed for DMCS are provided. The cooperative model of DMCS and the interactive mode based on the combination of the " len focus " and " free talk " are described in the paper also. The experiment shows that the designed DMCS system has the features of CSCW and carries out cooperative task very well.

Abstract:Computer supported cooperative work(CSCW) is a new technology,integrating human behavior model and computer supported technology.CSCW has been used widely in areas such as desktop conference system and distance learning.The study of group communication in CSCW attracts more and more people.This paper analyses and compares some current group communication systems ,points out the character of group communication in CSCW and some key problems should be solved.In this paper a group communication system named CSCWGCS has been proposed.CSCWGCS system is scalable and can be used in WAN. Comparing to its designing source:Xpand system,CSCWGCS system adapts to the multimedia applications environment better and can provide diverse quality of service.

Abstract:It has now been, widely recognized that a CSCW platform will be critical to the success of CSCW research, development and application. A CSCW platform tries to ease developer work in developing a cooperative application by providing some types of general-purpose cooperation support services. However current CSCW platforms lack the power to support uniformly the development of a full spectrum of cooperative applications. This paper summarizes some experiences and considerations in the design and implementation of a general-purpose CSCW platform named Dicse. The basic idea is to provide developers with the Cova model, with which the static and dynamic properties of data objects and the cooperation control policies can be described, and a interpreting system, which interprets the description and conducts the required cooperative control. In this way, cooperative services can be provided, while the implementation details are completely hidden from developers. We will discuss the Cova model, the services provided how they are implemented, and how they can be used by developers.

Abstract:Advanced CSCW technology have a great impact on the communication and cooperation during the design process of products. Abstract:This paper brings forward the concepts and theories of CSCW, and then discusses the characteristics of Java. Combined with the characteristics of Java and electronic white-board, the paper structures a framework of the electronic white-board implemented by Java, which uses TCP/IP protocol and UDP protocol at the same time.
