On China's Studies of Translational Norms

Abstract:Based on the discussion of the general situation of China's studies of translational norms and the limitations of the studies, this paper expounds the necessity and possibility of conducting descriptive studies of translational norms, and analyses its significance. It is pointed out that the focal point of the present studies of translational norms should be shifted from prescriptiveness to descriptiveness, that a series of theoretic propositions on translational laws should be obtained by positivist means, and that positivist analyses should be conducted to guarantee the practicality of theories of translational norms.
