Abstract:We study the problem of finding complete conformal metrics determined by some symmetric function of the modified Schouten tensor on compact manifolds with boundary; which reduces to a Dirichlet problem. We prove the existence of the solution under some suitable conditions. In particular, we prove that every smooth compact n-dimensional manifold with boundary, with n >= 3, admits a complete Riemannian metric g whose Ricci curvature Ric(g) and scalar curvature R-g satisfydet(Ric(g) - R(g)g) = const.This result generalizes Aviles and McOwen's in the scalar curvature case.

Abstract:We study equilibrium problem on general Riemannian manifolds, focusing on existence of solutions and the convexity properties of the solution set. Our approach consists in relating the equilibrium problem to a suitable variational inequality problem on Riemannian manifolds, and is completely different from previous ones on this topic in the literature. We apply our results to the mixed variational inequality and the Nash equilibrium problem. Moreover, we formulate and analyze the convergence of the proximal point algorithm for the equilibrium problem. In particular, correct proofs are provided for the results claimed in J. Math. Anal. Appl. 388 (2012) 61–77 (i.e., Theorems 3.5 and 4.9 there) regarding the existence of the mixed variational inequality and the domain of the resolvent for the equilibrium problem on Hadamard manifolds.

Abstract:We establish the existence and uniqueness results for variational inequality problems on Riemannian manifolds and solve completely the open problem proposed in [S.Z. Németh, Variational inequalities on Hadamard manifolds, Nonlinear Anal. 52 (2003) 1491–1498]. Also the relationships between the constrained optimization problem and the variational inequality problems as well as the projections on Riemannian manifolds are studied.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the solvability for integral boundary value problems of fractional differential equation with the nonlinear term dependent in a fractional derivative of lower order on infinite intervals. The existence and uniqueness of solutions for the boundary value problem are proved by means of the Schauder's fixed point theorem and Banach's contraction mapping principle. Abstract:We make systematic developments on Lawson-Osserman constructions relating to the Dirichlet problem (over unit disks) for minimal surfaces of high codimension in their 1977' Acta paper. In particular, we show the existence of boundary functions for which infinitely many analytic solutions and at least one nonsmooth Lipschitz solution exist simultaneously. This newly-discovered amusing phenomenon enriches the understanding on the Lawson-Osserman philosophy. (C) 2019 Published by Elsevier Masson SAS.

Abstract:In this paper, we focus on investigating a nonlinear Schrödinger-type equation with nonzero boundary at infinity. An appropriate two-sheeted Riemann surface is introduced to map the original spectral parameter [Formula: see text] into a single-valued parameter [Formula: see text]. Starting from the Lax pair of the Schrödinger-type equation, we derive its Jost solutions with nonzero boundary conditions, and further analyze the asymptotic behaviors, analyticity, the symmetries of the Jost solutions and the corresponding spectral matrix. An associated matrix Riemann–Hilbert (RH) problem associated with the problem of nonzero boundary conditions is subsequently presented, and a formulae of [Formula: see text]-soliton solutions for the Schrödinger-type equation by solving the matrix RH problem. As an application of the [Formula: see text]-soliton formulae, we present two kinds of one-soliton solutions and three kinds of two-soliton solutions according to different distributions of spectral parameters, and dynamical features of those solutions are also further analyzed.

Abstract:We show that the Dirichlet problem at infinity is unsolvable for the p-Laplace equation for any nonconstant continuous boundary data, for certain range of p>n, on an n-dimensional Cartan-Hadamard manifold constructed from a complete noncompact shrinking gradient Ricci soliton. Using the steady gradient Ricci soliton, we find an incomplete Riemannian metric on ${\mathbb R}^2$ with positive Gauss curvature such that every positive p-harmonic function must be constant for $p\geq 4$.

Abstract:This paper investigate the mixed initial-boundary value problem for the equation of timelike extremal surfaces in Minkowski space R1+(1+n) in the first quadrant. Under the assumptions that the initial data are bounded and the boundary data are small, we prove the global existence and uniqueness of the C2 solutions of the initial-boundary value problem for this kind of equation. Based on the existence results on global classical solutions, we also show that, as t tends to infinity, the first order derivatives of the solutions approach C1 traveling wave, under the appropriate conditions on the initial and boundary data. Geometrically, this means the extremal surface approaches a generalized cylinder which is an exact solution.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a Riemann–Liouville-type fractional Riemann–Stieltjes integral boundary value problem under some conditions regarding the spectral radius of the relevant linear operator. The existence of nontrivial solutions is obtained using topological degree, and our results improve and generalize some results in the literature.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Hessian equation with infinite Dirichlet (blow-up) boundary value conditions. Using radial functions and techniques of ordinary differential inequality, we construct various barrier functions (super-solution and subsolution). Existence and non-existence theorems are proved by those barriers, maximum principle and theory of viscous solutions. Furthermore, generic boundary blow-up rates for the solutions are derived.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to research the nonlinear Riemann boundary value problem with square roots for Lyapunov open curve in variable exponent spaces. We supplement the open curve as a closed one, discuss the odd-order zeros distribution of the solutions and get the single-valued analytic branch of the solutions with square roots. Then the problem is converted into a Riemann boundary value problem of analytic function for closed curve. We also discuss the equivalence of transformations and the singularity of the solutions at individual zeros and endpoints. Finally we obtain the explicit expression of the solutions as well as the solvable conditions.

Abstract:This work deals with the Entire solutions of a nonlinear equation. The first part of this paper is devoted to investigation of the Liouville property on compact manifolds, which extends a result by Castorina-Mantegazza [4] for positive f. Secondly, we will turn to non-compact manifolds and prove a Liouville theorem under the assumptions of boundedness of the Ricci curvature from below, diffeomorphism of M with R^N and sub-criticality of p defined below. Finally, we also present simplified proofs of Yau's theorem for harmonic function and Gidas-Spruck's theorem for elliptic semilinear equation. Our proofs are based on Li-Yau type estimation for nonlinear equations.
