Abstract:A MANET is a multi-hop temporary autonomous system of mobile nodes equipped with wireless transmitters and receivers without the aid of any current network infrastructure. Batteries typically power hosts in MANET, so energy conservation strategy is a critical problem at all layer of the protocol stack. In this paper, the progress of the energy conservation technologies is surveyed, and various energy conservation strategies are described and evaluated. A framework of energy conservation based on cross layer coordinated design and direction of development is proposed at last.
