Abstract:In the past few years, there has been significant progress in the communications and computer technology, which requires stable, clear video image display. On the other hand, conventional analog video processing method, due to its intrinsic limitations, can not meet the requirement of high quality and high speed operation. Meanwhile, the digital video processing technique that integrates with the computer technology is growing rapidly. In this paper, we introduce the art of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) that has been widely used for video signal processing, and develop the video signal acquisition and processing system that based on FPGA, thereby achieve real-time video signal acquiring, processing, and transferring.

Abstract:The paper describes a DVB based HDTV audio decoder used in multi-channel extension and presents an improved algorithm for the synthesis filter bank. It is found that when the symmetry of coefficient and the similarity of the allocation tables, computational amount and memory size are reduced by more than 50%. DSP/BIOS operating system simplifies developing various DSP systems. This decoder can also be used in Digital Audio Broadcasting systems.

Abstract:This paper describes a general structure,area-optimized interpolation filter used in the Delta-Sigma Digital-to-Analog converter(DAC) intended for the portable digital audio system.The whole filter system simulation,verilog implement and FPGA verification are processed,the signal-to-noise(S/N) achieves 115 dB and the total area is small enough which has good prospect for the audio applications.

Abstract:Digital video post-processing IC and its application scheme are based on the diversity requirements of digital TV operation. The IC possess great market potential, yet the domestic market has been monopolized by foreign companies. This paper introduces the function frame and performance of GX2001---Hangzhou Guoxin Science and Technology Co., LTD's digital video post-processing IC, and accounts for GX2001 's system application scheme. GX2001 releases the problem that we have no internal patented IC in the digital TV industry. Comparing with other Post-Processing ICs o-versea, GX2001 suit the need of TV industry and the domestic market, is more convenient to use in the TV system, and has higher performance while lower cost.

Abstract:Trellis Code Modulation (TCM) has been widely used because it can obtain 2.55∼7.37 dB coding gain without bandwidth expansion or reduction of the effective information rates. Since Viterbi decoder plays an important role in the realization of HDTV system, we conduct the research and development on integration of Viterbi decoder. This paper proposes a new VLSI design of Viterbi decoder using ASIPs based on hardware/software co-design idea. It reduces the total design time and enhances the reliability of VLSI. We have successfully used this method for the design of Viterbi decoder in the ASTC-HDTV receiver chip.
A Real-Time Full HD 2D-to-3d Video Conversion System Based on FPGA

Abstract:The 2D to 3D conversion technique plays an important role in the development and promotion of three-dimensional television (3DTV), because it can provide adequate supply of high-quality 3D program content. This Paper focuses on the real-time implementation of 2D-3D system, of which the major parts are source depth-map generation and depth image-based rendering (DIBR). The depth-map is generated by multi-depth cues, according to the types of the 2D scene, including luminance and color, visual saliency and adaptive depth models. Then the original 2D image or video is converted to stereoscopic one by DIBR with the depth map. The proposed system is accelerated by being designed in new hardware architecture on FPGA. Our method is verified on various sequences and experiment results show that, the system can achieve 30 frames per second for processing full HD (1920×1080) video on Xilinx Virtex IV XC4VSX25 while the resulting image or video is both realistic and visual pleasing.

Abstract:This paper describes the design of digital video mixing system based on Philips digital video encoder SAA7199B, which can substitute the assigned color in one color component video with another color component video. Especially, the paper also describes the method of using Micro Control Unit's (MCU) I/O ports to emulate PC bus and the algorithm of using MCU to convert the color spaces (YUV and RGB).

Abstract:A design and implementation method of H.264/AVC encoder based on mixed structure is introduced,in which DSP is used as a main processor and FPGA as an assistant processor to accelerate arithmetic by hardware. In order to meet required real-time performance,hardware engine is designed for the most complicated and time-consuming module. According to the engine,it constitutes a software and hardware communication agreement,which makes control and data transporting easily,and realizes the real-time performances which H.264/AVC D1 coder needs.

Abstract:With the development of communication, digital video compression technology turns into one of the most flourishing realm. In this paper the author introduces an AVS decoder design based on a multimedia chip-platform. In order to obtain the optimal performance, the structure of decoder adopts parallel algorithm with the centre processer and the coprocessor. The performance of the decoder which is about ten times faster than that of the software mode rm52j_r1, meets the requirement of real-time broadcasting (30 frames per second). Some analyses about the optimization are also included in this paper.

Abstract:This paper presents an advanced ID interpolation architecture for AVS video coding standard. Previous approaches have demerit of low data throughput. The proposed design parallel filters the horizontal data and serial filters the vertical data, thus greatly improve the throughput. Experimental result shows it outperforms conventional designs in processing cycle and chip area. The prototype design costs 26.2 K gates when synthesized at 108 MHz using 0.18 mum CMOS technology.

Abstract:The design of a kind of video processor with the function of auto-focusing is introduced in this paper. The video processor receives digital 8-bit YCbCr video signal. With a piece of DDR2 SDRAM as frame buffer, the video processor realizes the function of format conversion, frame up-scaling and color space conversion. The paper proposes an improved gray scale differential auto-focus algorithm and calculates the focus value of the current image real-timely. Applying the mountain climbing searching strategy to control the moving of the focus motor, and realize the function of auto-focusing. The whole design is realized in VHDL and verified with Xilinx XUPV5-LX110T FPGA developing board.

Abstract:Multimedia applications need larger and larger bandwidth. The only way to face the demands is to provide better and faster video compression standard. Thus, AVS is created in China. To address the need for hardware acceleration of its computationally intensive parts, high throughput hardware architectures for fast computation of the 2-D Transform Quantization Inverse Quantization and Inverse Transform are presented in this paper. In addition, two high performance system architectures are presented. The proposed hardware architectures are incorporated into two different hardware systems implemented on a Virtex 4 Pro FPGA. Simulation results show that both two hardware system architectures that are incorporated proposed architectures could provide satisfactory performances.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a system-on-chip software hardware co-design for a statistical decoder. We use the context-based adaptive binary arithmetic decoder (CABAC decoder) used in the High profile of the H.264/AVC video coding standard as a design example. The design is aimed to strike a balance between software modules and hardware modules based on design constraints. It is capable of decoding one bin per clock cycle at high clock frequencies while maintaining a slim hardware footprint. Compared to existing statistical decoders, this design is aimed for a fast and compact IP core, well verified with standard video test sequence, and ideal for a SoC implementation.

Abstract:In order to receive digital video broadcasting(DVB) program with computer,this paper presents an application specific integrated circuits(ASIC) design of DVB transport stream receiving chip based on PCI interface.Hardware-software partitioning strategy is based on real-time requirement and complexity profiles of DVB system.Data path architecture is focused on the design of high-speed channel to improve the bandwidth.Furthermore,the parameters of chaining mode direct memory access(DMA) and the depth of buffer are optimized by theory analysis.The result indicates the bandwidth of chaining mode DMA is up to 476.6 Mb/s,which is 25 times as much as original DMA strategy.The chip can enhance the ability of receiving data and has been fabricated in 0.35 μm CMOS process of Fujitsu.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose an optimized real-time AVS (a Chinese next-generation audio/video coding standard) HDTV video decoder. The decoder has been implemented in a single SoC with HW/SW partitioning. AVS algorithms and complexity are first analyzed. Based on the analysis, a hardware implementation of the MB level 7-stage pipeline is selected. The software tasks are realized with a 32-bit RISC processor. We further propose the optimization of interface and RISC processor based on the proposed architecture. The AVS decoder (RISC processor and hardware accelerators) is described in high-level Verilog/VHDL hardware description language and implemented in a single-chip AVS HDTV real-time decoder. At 148.5 MHz working frequency, the decoder chip can support real-time decoding of NTSC, PAL or HDTV (720p@60 frames/s or 1080i@60 fields/s) bit-streams. Finally, the decoder has been fully tested on a prototyping board

Abstract:A high-performance hardware architecture was presented for 2-D inverse integer transform in AVS(Video part).This architecture had two 1-D inverse transform cores and four dual-port SRAMs.The size of each SRAM was 16×16.By controlling the SRAMs,data pre-processing and post-processing were avoided and the depth of pipeline was decreased.When vertical inverse transform was performed,the order of data processing was changed,which ensured that four dual-port SRAMs would not influence processing speed.37 clocks were needed for processing 8×8 data by this architecture.Compared to conventional architecture,it could save 28% area on the condition of the same processing speed.The experiment shows that this architecture is suitable for HDTV’s decoder which adopts AVS as video standard.

Abstract:In this paper, we describe a HDTV video decoder that is part of Chinese national HDTV functional system project. The decoder can real-time decode MPEG-2 video PES packets at bitrate up to 60 Mb/s. The main chips are four commercial MPEG-2 MP@ML video decoders which work in parallel. This new approach leads to good system performance, less design time and lower total cost. The paper describes the hardware architecture and implementation of the video decoder in detail.

Abstract:A new adaptive frame rate up conversion algorithm and its ASIC design for consumer television are presented. The algorithm of adaptive frame rate up conversion with field-frame detection for high quality video format conversion is applied in the chip, which can convert PAL 50 Hz interlaced picture into 50-65 Hz progressive picture, or NTSC 60 Hz interlaced picture into 60-70 Hz progressive picture. This algorithm are also integrated in this chip, including Black/White Level Expansion, picture edge based 2-D filter, chroma transient improvement (CTI), color space convert (CSC), and gamma correction. The 0.35 micron CMOS technology is used for fabrication in TSMC and the fabricated chip is with potential commercial application.

Abstract:AVS is Chinese new audio and video coding standard. A pipeline-based architecture of inverse quantizer for AVS video standard is proposed in this paper. Due to using one-pass processing for run length decoding, inverse scan and inverse quantization, the architecture can save many buffers, which are used to store intermediate results during multi-pass processing. Furthermore, the processing speed is up to one coefficient per clock cycle. This architecture has been described in Verilog HDL, simulated with VCS digital simulator, and synthesized using 0.18mum CMOS cells library by Synopsys design compiler. The circuit totally costs about 13.7k logic gates when running at 200MHz. Simulation results show that the architecture can support real-time inverse quantization for HDTV (1280times720, 60fps) video. This architecture has been implemented in a single chip HDTV decoder for AVS video and audio
