Comparison of different administration methods of aprepitant and tropisetron in preventing vomiting induced by cisplatin chemotherapy in treatment of advanced lung cancer

Abstract:Objective To study the effect of different administration methods of aprepitant and tropisetron in preventing vomiting induced by cisplatin chemotherapy in the treatment advanced lung cancer.Methods Totally 120 patients with advanced lung cancer receiving cisplatin chemotherapy from April 2013 to May 2014 were enrolled and randomly divided into combined treatment group,aprepitant group and tropisetron group,which were given tropisetron combined with aprepitant,aprepitant and tropisetron antiemetic scheme,respectively.The antiemetic effect,immune function and adverse reactions were compared among three groups.Results The complete remission rateand control rate of acute vomiting and delayed vomiting in combined treatment group were significantly higher than those in aprepitant group and tropisetron group[acute vomiting:82.5％ (33/40) vs 57.5％ (23/ 40),55.0％ (22/40),97.5％ (39/40)vs82.5％ (33/40),77.5％ (31/40);delayed vomiting:65.0％ (26/40) vs 42.5％ (17/40),40.0％ (16/40);87.5％ (35/40) vs 72.5％ (29/40),70.0％ (28/40),P ＜ 0.05].The levels of IgA,IgG,IgM in combined treatment group were all significantly higher than those in aprepitant group and tropisetron group[(13.1 ± 1.6) g/L vs (10.1 ± 1.1),(10.4 ± 1.3) g/L,(2.86 ±0.33) g/L vs (1.66 ±0.21),(1.70 ±0.22) g/L,(1.43 ±0.19) g/L vs (1.02±0.13),(1.08 ±0.13) g/L,P＜0.05].There were no statistically significant differences of adverse reactions,including hiccups,headache,dizziness,fatigue,constipation,allergies and dry mouth,among the three groups.Conclusion Tropisetron combined with aprepitant antiemetic scheme can improve antiemetic effect and immune function with tolerable toxicity.
