Abstract:Objective:To simply introduce the thoracoscopic anterior spinal release and report its preliminary clinical results.Method:16cases of thoracoscopic anterior spinal release were performed. All were adolescent idiopathic thoracic scoliosis. There were1male and15female with average age15.8years and average Cobb angle89°±11.3°(x±s).11cases were King typeⅡand5cases were King typeⅢ.The Risser sign was from3~4.Posterior correction with TSRH was performed within two weeks after thoracoscopic anterior spinal release. The operative time, released level, blood loss during operation, postoperative drainage of the thoracoscopic anterior spinal release and the scoliosis correction rate after posterior TSRH instrumentation were analyzed.Result:The average time for thoracoscopy was192±25min.The number of released levels averaged5.9±0.8and the blood loss during operation averaged130±21ml.The postoperative drainage for thoracoscopy averaged550±80ml with average draining time70±15.5h.The average Cobb angle after posterior correction was38.8°±11.0°with scoliosis correction rate55.8±10.7%.With a follow-up of half a year,no loss of correction and hardware complications presented. Conclusion:The preliminary clinical results of thoracoscopic anterior spinal release are satisfactory. But its long-term results need a long term follow-up.
