Abstract:A three-dimensional data measurement method combining stereo vision and Fourier transform profilometry( FTP) is proposed in this paper. Stereo vision is simple and fast but it is prone to mismatch in smooth areas. FTP has high accuracy over smooth areas but it can only measure a limited height gradient. Depth information of high quality is obtained by combining these two techniques. Firstly, the system was constructed with four CMOS sensor cameras and a projector. Four cameras' position were adjusted to capture pictures of scene, and thus four depth maps were obtained from disparity. The rough depth map of the central camera field was obtained using image transform and image mosaic. Secondly, the rough depth map was segmented into parts with similar depth by Flood Fill algorithm. A mask was constructed based on each part to choose the proper areas of stripe image for FTP. Modulation analysis was used to get unwrapped phase from the distorted strip pattern caused by the object height. By merging the initial depth map with the depth map of FTP, the final depth map of high quality was obtained.

Abstract:A new 3D computer vision approach, 3D spectrum imaging and reconstruction system, is proposed in this paper. The basic principal and structure of the system is introduced, the formulas to obtain the 3D information is deduced on the base of triangular algorithm, and the experiment result is given. As it shows in the paper, this new 3D computer vision system is clear in its principal, fast in its accurate computation, and simple in its structure. The fast 3D objects imaging and reconstruction features of this system can make it possible to be used in practical applications.

Abstract:360 & DEG; three-dimensional (3D) shape measurement is of great significance in the fields of defect detection and reverse modeling. Fringe projection profilometry (FPP) is widely used due to the advantages of high-accuracy and full-field measurement, but the movement of object corrupts the phase measurement. Stereo phase unwrapping (SPU) technique is adopted to improve imaging efficiency, but requires multi-cameras which resulting in high system complexity and cost. In this work, we proposed virtual stereo phase unwrapping (VSPU) method for high-speed 360 & DEG; 3D shape measurement. This method uses the virtual camera-projector systems formed by the rotation of object for phase unwrapping which only requires single camera-projector to achieve 360 & DEG; 3D shape measurement. The phase consistency checking in SPU method is modified. Experiments demonstrate that proposed method has strong robustness and can achieve 360 & DEG; 3D shape measurement in 47 s with an accuracy of 100 & mu;m during continuous rotation of the object.

Abstract:Vision-based three-dimensional (3D) shape measurement techniques have been widely applied over the past decades in numerous applications due to their characteristics of high precision, high efficiency and non-contact. Recently, great advances in computing devices and artificial intelligence have facilitated the development of vision-based measurement technology. This paper mainly focuses on state-of-the-art vision-based methods that can perform 3D shape measurement with high precision and high resolution. Specifically, the basic principles and typical techniques of triangulation-based measurement methods as well as their advantages and limitations are elaborated, and the learning-based techniques used for 3D vision measurement are enumerated. Finally, the advances of, and the prospects for, further improvement of vision-based 3D shape measurement techniques are proposed.

3D Measurement System Based on Computer-Generated Gratings

Abstract:A new kind of 3D measurement system has been developed to achieve the 3D profile of complex object. The principle of measurement system is based on the triangular measurement of digital fringe projection, and the fringes are fully generated from computer. Thus the computer-generated four fringes form the data source of phase-shifting 3D profilometry. The hardware of system includes the computer, video camera, projector, image grabber, and VGA board with two ports (one port links to the screen, another to the projector). The software of system consists of grating projection module, image grabbing module, phase reconstructing module and 3D display module. A software-based synchronizing method between grating projection and image capture is proposed. As for the nonlinear error of captured fringes, a compensating method is introduced based on the pixel-to-pixel gray correction. At the same time, a least square phase unwrapping is used to solve the problem of phase reconstruction by using the combination of Log Modulation Amplitude and Phase Derivative Variance (LMAPDV) as weight. The system adopts an algorithm from Matlab Tool Box for camera calibration. The 3D measurement system has an accuracy of 0.05mm. The execution time of system is 3 similar to 5s for one-time measurement.

Abstract:The paper reviews the recent research progresses of vision measurement. The general methods of the depth detection used in the monocular stereo vision are compared with each other. As a result, a novel bifocal imaging measurement system based on the zoom method is proposed to solve the problem of the online 3D measurement. This system consists of a primary lens and a secondary one with the different focal length matching to meet the large-range and high-resolution imaging requirements without time delay and imaging errors, which has an important significance for the industry application.

Abstract:Catadioptric panoramic stereo imaging technique plays important roles in the applications of machine vision, virtual reality, etc. Catadioptric panoramic stereo imaging technique is based on the catadioptric panoramic imaging technology for large field of view imaging,and the principle of binocular vision to obtain stereo information. In this paper, the present and development of catadioptric panoramic stereo imaging technique is expounded systematically, and the advantages and disadvantages of some important approaches are discussed. Finally, the existing problems and future development in catadioptric panoramic stereo imaging technique are discussed.
A Method of 3D-Gis Application Aided with Stereo Panorama Technology

Abstract:So far, three-dimensional geographic information system (3DGIS) has been developed and applied to many fields. However, data capturing is a challenge for complex environment modeling and visualization. Panorama is an elegant method for users to get a real view without being plagued by 3D measurement and modeling. Although someone claimed that panoramas can offer the function of measurement, the results are widely considered not reliable. 3D images composited by laser scanner data are another kind of precise data source to replace traditional 3D modeling. Laser scanners have obvious shortcomings, such as vast data and time-consuming processes. We propose a method of using stereo panorama technology to complement the three-dimensional data acquisition, processing and management. By using two cameras combined with MTI sensors, which provide pose and position measurement. We can obtain the stereo panorama at one time, which enables users to measure positions and orientations of particular features. The panorama can be uploaded to the 3D-GIS in a custom transmission format to provide stereo browsing of data capture sites. Combined with photogrammetry technology, users can also get accurate results by measuring interesting features on the panorama through interactive measurement interface. Based on Google Earth platform, we verified the effectiveness of our developed system. It stands out from traditional methods with its irreplaceable superiority in local 3D data acquisition and updating, as well as its direct data measurement.

Abstract:This paper introduces a stereo image rectification algorithm based on image feature points for multi-view three-dimension (3D) display system. First, we mark the feature points in multi-view images, and calculate the rectification parameters. Then we use these parameters for rotating image and shifting image in vertical direction in order to eliminate the vertical parallax of multi-view images. Finally according to zero-parallax setting (ZPS), we adjust the horizontal parallax to get a better stereo image for multi-view 3D display. After the multi-view information is corrected, the stereo effect has been greatly enhanced in multi-view display system. The algorithm has low complexity in real-time 3D system and can improve the stereo image from the point of the observer.

Abstract:The paper investigates the capability of object reconstruction from space for two specific projects. Both of them are based on the use of three-line scanner systems allowing for simultaneous digital image recording from three different angles. An efficient model for combined point determination is proposed, considering the digital image data as well as orbit information, GPS and INS observations. The resulting accuracy is estimated from project oriented simulations. Finally, the possibilities for DTM generation, orthophoto production and stereo compilation from three-line scanner imagery are discussed.

Abstract:The 3-D foot-shape measurement system based on laser-line-scanning principle was designed and 3-D foot-shape measurements without blind areas and the automatic extraction of foot-parameters were achieved. The paper is focused on the study of the system structure and principle and image processing techniques. The key techniques related to the image processing for 3-D foot shape measurement system include laser stripe extraction, laser stripe coordinate transformation from CCD cameras image coordinates system to laser plane coordinates system, laser stripe assembly of eight CCD cameras and eliminating of image noise and disturbance. 3-D foot shape measurement makes it possible to realize custom-made shoe-making and shows great prosperity in shoe design, foot orthopaedic treatment, shoe size standardization and establishment of a feet database for consumers.

Abstract:A noncontact, fast, accurate, low-cost, broad-range, full-field, easy-to-implement three-dimensional (3D) shape measurement technique is presented. The technique is based on a generalized fringe projection profilometry setup that allows each system component to be arbitrarily positioned. It employs random phase-shifting, multifrequency projection fringes, ultrafast direct phase unwrapping, and inverse self-calibration schemes to perform 3D shape determination with enhanced accuracy in a fast manner. The relative measurement accuracy can reach 1/10,000 or higher, and the acquisition speed is faster than two 3D views per second. The validity and practicability of the proposed technique have been verified by experiments. Because of its superior capability, the proposed 3D shape measurement technique is suitable for numerous applications in a variety of fields.

Abstract:Image-based 3D object modeling refers to the process of converting raw optical images to 3D digital representations of the objects. Very often, such models are desired to be dimensionally true, semantically labeled with photorealistic appearance (reality-based modeling). Laser scanning was deemed as the standard (and direct) way to obtaining highly accurate 3D measurements of objects, while one would have to abide the high acquisition cost and its unavailability on some of the platforms. Nowadays the image-based methods backboned by the recently developed advanced dense image matching algorithms and geo-referencing paradigms, are becoming the dominant approaches, due to its high flexibility, availability and low cost. The largely automated geometric processing of images in a 3D object reconstruction workflow, from ordered/unordered raw imagery to textured meshes, is becoming a critical part of the reality-based 3D modeling. This article summarizes the overall geometric processing workflow, with focuses on introducing the state-of-the-art methods of three major components of geometric processing: 1) geo-referencing; 2) Image dense matching 3) texture mapping. Finally, we will draw conclusions and share our outlooks of the topics discussed in this article.

Abstract:The three-dimensional (3D) displacement resolution of conventional visual measurement systems can only reach tens of microns in cases involving long measuring distances (2.5 m) and large fields of view (1.5 m × 1.5 m). Therefore, a stereo vision measurement technology based on confocal scanning is proposed herein. This technology combines macroscopic visual measurement technology with confocal microscopic measurement technology to achieve a long measuring distance, a large field of view, and micron-level measuring resolution. First, we analyzed the factors affecting the 3D resolution of the visual system and developed a 3D resolution model of the visual system. Subsequently, we fabricated a prototype based on the resolution model and the proposed stereo vision measurement technology. The 3D displacement resolution measurement results in the full field of view show that the displacement resolutions of the developed equipment in the x-, y-, and z-directions can reach 2.5, 2.5, and 6 μm, respectively.

Abstract:A single camera stereo vision sensor model based on planar mirror imaging is proposed for measuring a three-dimensional point. The model consists of a CCD camera and a planar mirror. Using planar mirror reflections of a scene, a picture with parallax is obtained by shooting the target object and its virtual image. This is equivalent to shooting the target object from different angles with the camera and the virtual camera in the planar mirror, so it has the function of binocular stereo vision. In addition, the measurement theory of the three-dimensional point is discussed. The mathematical model of a single camera stereo vision sensor is established, the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters are calibrated, and the corresponding experiment has been done. The experimental results show that the measuring method is convenient and effective; it also has the advantages of simple structure, convenient adjustment, and is especially suitable for short-distance measurement with high precision.

Abstract:Large components are widely used in aerospace, shipbuilding, automobile, and other fields. The accuracy of three-dimension (3D) measurement is an important standard to measure the quality of production and assembly of the whole equipment. Due to the large-scale and difficulty in measuring complex surfaces, some optical methods for measuring 3D shapes are difficult to apply. Optical 3D shape measurement technology based on the main theoretical basis such as close-range industrial photogrammetry and stereo vision 3D shape measurement technology based on fringe structure light projection has developed rapidly. Currently, there is no review paper to comprehensively introducethese technical methods. To fill this gap and stimulate further research, we conducted a comprehensive investigation on the 3D shape measurement methods of large-scale complex surfaces, including the basic principles, application scope, measurement instruments, and systems of various methods, discussed the tasks and challenges faced by the current research, and provided potential solutions.

Abstract:This paper presents a method to measure dynamic deformable three-dimensional (3-D) surfaces from a calibrated stereo image sequence. This proposed method adopts a patch-based expansion technique that performs 3-D measuring and tracking by computing the motion and disparity independently. Compared with traditional expansion techniques, the proposed expansion technique always spreads from the most reliable region, which makes the measurement more accurate and dense. Abstract:Panorama can provide 360 degrees view in one hotspot, and it is widely used in street view, digital campus, etc. However, beside the visualization for the scene browsing, these panoramic models are not really three-dimensional model, which can’t support precise measurement for the scene from the images. Users gener-ally pay more attention to spatial measurable information of the objects in the field of survey. Therefore, con-struct one panoramic model which could support measurement would have more extensive prospects. So it is ur-gent to construct a kind of three-dimensional measurement model for panoramic images. For the aim to realize measurement and analysis on the panorama, this paper proposed a kind of measurable three-dimensional recon-struction approach based on spherical panoramas. We analyzed and constructed the projective geometry relation between two spherical panoramas, and also constructed some orientation and measurement algorithms for spheri-cal panoramic images, thus establishing a data theoretical calculation basis. The experiment shows that the ap-proach is much validated, which could be applied for 3D scene modeling, and something useful is obtained.
