Abstract:The Chinese government invested considerable resources in developing the GIS software industry. Expert evaluation has been used as an important mechanism for assisting the distribution of R&D funds and to assess the performances of the funded projects. The expert evaluation serves as a resolution of the information asymmetry between the funding agencies and the GIS software developers. The formation of the expert committee, the formulation of the evaluation guidelines and the test questions, as well as the conduct of the evaluation contribute to the characteristics of the information obtained from the evaluation. Improvements can be made in these areas so as to enhance the quality of the evaluation and to generate positive influences on the behavior of the software developers. Meanwhile, decision makers should be aware of the advantages and limitations of the expert evaluation.

Abstract:Applied embedded techniques grow rapidly in recent years and the relative products can be found anywhere. Embedded computers have been applied in many fields of manufacturing, such as process control, communication, automobile, watercraft, aviation, spaceflight, military equipment and consuming products, etc. It provides us a good chance for the development of micro-embedded GIS software. In this paper, we have made a detailed discussion on the background of techniques and characteristics, perspective of applied development, and state of the art of micro-embedded GIS software. The significance of developing our embedded GIS software and techniques with independent copyrights is also discussed and some suggestions for the development of embedded GIS software are presented.

Abstract:The increasingly maturing of two new technology WebGIS and Virtual Reality gives strong support to the development of tourism in our country.First,the application of WebGIS in tourism survey and evaluation,tourism exploiting and planning,tourism marketing decision-making,tourism guiding,and Virtual Reality in traveling in Virtual World are andysed.Then design schemes for a Tourism Geographical Information System is put farward,and our achievement is offered in lab.Last the bright prospect of both of them applied in tourism development can be forecast.

Abstract:As a powerful tool to manage and analyze spatial data, GIS is developed quite fast in China since 1980s. The development of GIS brought an important challenge to geo-spatial education, made a huge change to traditional education on spatial information technology, and promoted the development of modern GIS education. By solving the problem, China has established a set of GIS training systems. However, the situation is still far from perfect. Led by the development of technology, the GIS training system stepped over three stages and keep on progressing. This paper introduces the development and current situation of GIS education in China, including degree training and on-job training.

Abstract:Though GIS industry development in China was much better than ten years ago, many problems still exist, such as the scale of it was small, the depth and scope of GIS application were limited; the industry service system was not perfect; GIS education could not meet the requirement and GIS standardization work lagged behind. To boost the GIS industry not only needs the development of geographic information technology and the innovation of GIS software products, but also needs to establish GIS industry service system, especially to speed up cultivating new GIS human resources. Those problems existed in the process of GIS industry development were interrelated closely, we should not consider GIS as it stands, we should not restrict ourselves, we should think globally and act locally, strengthen those taches which were feeble at now times. With the advance of national informatization, especially with the prosperity of e-governance, GIS industry was faced with many new opportunities in China. As long as we envisage those problems and take action suitably, national GIS industry will develop very quickly.

Abstract:WebGIS is the integration of Internet and GIS,and it is a realization of GIS on Web.Using WebGIS,people could browse the spacial data and the special map while analyze the spacial data on Web with the browser(such as IE and Netscape).Today,the technology development of WebGIS is speedy in the world.There are many framework for WebGIS,such as ArcIMS of ESRI,MapXtreme,MapInfo or MapGuide of AutoDesk and some national manufactures(SuperMap IS,Geobeans and Geosurf).There are also some successful Web Stations,for example Map of World、Science of NuoPan、Golden Coordinate、MapABC and so on.There are differences between them in function.This paper expounds the whole process of WebGIS,which is using the Map Web Service of ArcIMS,the spatial Engine of ArcSDE,the technology of ArcObject and javascript in the Web Station of www.landjs.com.

Abstract:s: Many experts and scholars have developed the concept of environmental geotechnology in their pratice after Mr.Fang Xiao-yang put it forward in 1985.The paper argues that the essence of environmental geotechnology is the traditional geotechnology integrated with the environment factor and their harmony.In addtion,it reviews the application of GIS in every field of environmental geotechnology ,including engineering exploration and evaluation,planning and analysis of geological disasters,disposal of nuclear wastes and so on.The paper also discusses the actuality and difference in the research between domestic and foreign countries,and makes expectation of its development.Finally,it indicates that the research of application of GIS in environmental geotechnology will have a promising prospect.

Abstract:The rapid development of urbanization requires land management business not to be divided into two subjects including ownership and usage in terms of urban and rural areas. In order to meets the requirement, a new thinking for land management pattern is put forward, and management tools of data center for integration of urban and rural areas are designed. the tools are based on GIS ,which have made the management of multi-subject, multi-area, multi-source and multi-measurement data possible. The tools have put into practice in land management and have obvious technical advantages.

Abstract:In this paper,some modern computer software techniques are introduced. However, those techniques can not be put into practice of GIS software design. Especially, spatial data distributed computation, combining query and operation of both spatial and attribute data are focused on. In this paper. The weaknesses of GIS implementation technique, like the spatial data modeling and storing, the completed framework of spatial relationship and declaration, the relationship presentation between the spatial data and the attributes are pointed out. Also, the technical directions to solve those problems are presented. The layer-based spatial data storing and operation model has to be changed. The synchronization mechanism of spatial data operation has to be established. The UNIX semantics of spatial data modification has to be implemented. The GSQL has to be researched so that the ability of spatial data administration can be increased. etc.

Abstract:Since the concept of WebGIS appeared, its theory and application have been researched in our country. But it is still under the experimentation until now, so it cannot be called the real So it is necessary to summarize the research results for these years. This paper sums up the main characteristics of WebGIS on the basis of collecting and studying a great deal of published scientific thesises, research reports, degree thesises and applications. The paper also sums up the key problems and realizing technology of WebGIS, and its application status in agriculture, forestry, weather, water conservancy, earthquake, ocean, land and resource, environment protection, railroad and traffic, electric power, city construction and programming are emphasized. Finally the paper discusses the development trend of WebGIS. The conclusion is that WebGIS can be used more widely as an opening application platform.
