Abstract:Effects of dietary protein levels on growth and digestive enzyme activities of jade perch Scortum bacoo were investigated by feeding 5 isocaloric diets, which used white fishmeal as the only dietary protein source in pellet feeds. The trial feed protein contents were 23.64%, 28.45%, 33.50%, 37.04% and 41.62%, respectively. After a 8-week growth trial, the results shown that daily weight gain of 33.50% dietary protein treatment was the highest comparing to other treatments, which was very significantly higher (P0.01) than that of 23.64% protein treatment, and significantly higher (P0.05) than that of 28.54% protein treatment, but there were no significant differences (P0.05) comparing with those of 37.04% and 41.62% dietary protein treatments. Although there was no significant difference on feed efficiency among all dietary protein treatments, feed efficiencies of all treatments were increased with the increasement of dietary proteins. Meanwhile, as dietary protein increase, protease activity in both of stomach and intestine was increased. Protease activity in 41.62% treatment was very significant higher (P0.01) than those of 23.64% and 28.45% dietary protein treatments, significant higher (P0.05) than 33.50% dietary protein treatment, respectively. However, there was no significant difference (P0.05) on lipase and (amylase) in stomack and intestine among dietary protein treatments, respectively.
