Abstract:In view of the actual situation that the method of adopting microcosmic model can hardly satisfy the demands of optimal scheduling of water supply system in China now,the complicated network hydraulic equations were replaced by macroscopic nodal pressure model and the model of relationship between supply flow and water source head.The direct optimal operation model with multi-objective mixed discrete variables of large-scale water supply system was established,based on the condition that the outlet flow obtained by the Q-H pump curve of pump station at each time period was equal to the needed water flow obtained by water distribution network.Genetic algorithm was introduced to deal with the direct optimal operation model of water supply.Methods for handling each constraint condition were put forward,and(overcome) the shortcoming such as premature convergence of genetic algorithm,a solving method was brought forward in which genetic algorithm was combined with simulated annealing technology and self-(adaptive) crossover and mutation probabilities were adopted.An application example shows the feasibility of this algorithm.

Abstract:In this paper, A classification genetic algorithm is presented. It takes a small population size to reduce the cost of calculation and annex mutational operator to expand the ability of local searching. The results of example indicate that the algorithm have a good convergence and ability to get the best solution. The results of the example are better than the references.

Abstract:In this paper, an improved integer coded genetic algorithm is presented for discrete optimization of structures. It takes (-1,0,1) programming operator to expand the ability of local searching and presents a strategy to choose the starting point of (-1,0,1) programming operator. It also presents a restriction punish gene to discriminate the phenomenon of the same fitness for different combinations. The result of an example shows that this algorithm converges to the best solution quite quickly.

Abstract:Genetic algorithm is a new intelligence optimization algorithm developed from biology at the beginning of the year 1970.The method used in the design of the steel structures not only changed the traditional opinion of design, but also enriched the optimization algorithms of the steel structures.The optimization models of the steel frame with the object functions of minimization weights of the beams and the columns are put forward. The selection, crossover, mutation algorithm of genetic algorithm and parameter coded in binary genes are set up. The structure optimized design program in C is debugged and applied to analyze the steel frame.

Abstract:This paper presents a genetic algorithm (GA) for optimizing truss structural system with discrete design variables. It differs from existing mathematical programming methods in that the GA uses a population of initial points in contrast to the single-point approach by the traditional ones. The optimal solution by GA is no longer dependent on initial search values, and well guarantee a global optimum. Derivative calculation is not necessary and computer program is simple. Genetic algorithm is suited for structural optimization which have discrete variables.

Abstract:Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to solve the topological design optimization problems of discrete structures including truss structures and frame structures. On the basis of GA, a uniform mathematical model for topology optimization design of discrete structures subject to strength, stability, and displacement constraints under multiple loading conditions is presented by introducing topological design variables and modifying material elastic moduli of those inexistent bars. The given mathematical model is applicable to truss structures as well as frame structures, and singular optimization problems of discrete structures can also be resolved by using this model. A GA-based optimization method for the topological design of discrete structures with the uniform mathematical model is proposed. Several examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and the convenience of the proposed optimization method for the topological design of discrete structures including truss structures and frame structures.

Abstract:This paper presents an improved genetic algorithm (GA) to minimize weight of truss with sizing, shape and topology variables. Because of the nature of discrete and continuous variables, mixed coding schemes are proposed, including binary and float coding, integer and float coding. Surrogate function is applied to unify the constraints into single one; moreover Surrogate reproduction is developed to select good individuals to mating pool oil the basis of constraint and fitness values, which completely considers the character of constrained optimization. This paper proposes a new strategy of creating next Population by competing between parent and offspring Population based on constraint and fitness values: so that lifetime of excellent gene is prolonged. Because the initial population is created randomly and three operators of GA are also indeterminable, it is necessary to check whether the structural topology is desirable. An improved restart operator is proposed to introduce new gene and explore new space. so that the reliability of GA is enhanced. Selected examples are solved; the improved numerical results demonstrate that the enhanced GA scheme is feasible and effective. Copyright (c) 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:Tri-objective optimization of time,cost and quality is complex and valuable research hotspot which is of expansive practice application foreground.In order to analyze and research the complex large scale optimization problem,the integrative optimization model of time-cost-quality is set up according to the action rules and relations of three objectives.Tri-population genetic algorithm is put forward for the optimization model based on the idea of intellective stochastic search.The algorithm adopts different populations to carry out the parallel search to realize rapid optimization.Finally the methods proposed are applied to manufacturing case of airplane part,and a series of optimization results is achieved.The case applica-tion validates the correctness of the model and the availability of the algorithm.

Abstract:The problem of maximum multi-reliabilities is studied aiming to the network structures. Firstly, the optimum model of network structures based on random and fuzzy chances constrained is given. The solution strategy of genetic-ant colonies algorithm with stochastic simulation and fuzzy simulated is studied, and the detailed steps of hybrid intelligence are given based on stochastic simulation and fuzzy simulation. At last, an instance is given, multi-objects model with chance constrained programming is provided, the model is solved by genetic-anti colonies algorithm. The feasibility of hybrid intelligence of genetic algorithm and ant colonies with stochastic simulation and fuzzy simulated is verified by the result of calculation.

Abstract:In this paper, the mathematical model of minimum-cost design of aseismic structures based on damage performance is given, and its characteristics and difficulties are analyzed. Then the mathematical model of optimization is translated into an artificial evolutionary model, and the intelligent optimum design of aseismic structures is realized via genetic algorithms. The results obtained in the paper show that genetic algorithms is an effective way to attain the goal of structural intelligent design, and its application prospect appears to be highly promising.

Coordinating Exploration and Exploitation to Construct Genetic Algorithms

Abstract:A new genetic algorithm is proposed based on the careful coordination of the exploration in the solution space of the given problem and the exploitation of the information from the previous search. In the new algorithm architecture, the population in each generation consists of three sub-populations: a preserved part, a reproduced part, and a randomized part. Two parameters are incorporated into the algorithm to efficiently control the percentage of each sub-population to achieve good balance between the exploration and exploitation processes during the optimization. By modeling the algorithm as a homogeneous finite Markov chain, the new genetic algorithm is shown to converge towards the global optimum of the problem at hand. Experiments were designed to test the algorithm using the Rastrigin function, the Griewangk function, and the Schaffer function. Data analyses using the average success ratio, the average objective calculating number, the average first passage time to solution, and the standard deviation of the first passage time were compared with those of the canonical genetic algorithm, the elitist genetic algorithm, and the steady genetic algorithm. The results show strong evidence that our algorithm is superior in performance in terms of economy, robustness and efficiency.

Abstract:For network planning, resource optimization was put forward, and a mathematical model of resource optimization was set up. It was seen from the analysis that the modern optimization algorithms are mainly used to solve the mathematical model of resource optimization, and then genetic one used for solving this model of resource optimization. This genetic algorithm made a difference to traditional genetic algorithm. Firstly, the designed inimitable crossover probability and idiographic mutation one designed, can find optimal schema as soon as possible as well as enlarge searching area to solve deceptive problem. Secondly, being used inspecting and self-renovating operator can ensure that each son individual passing through crossover and mutation meets the feasibility. Finally, an example for showing validity of this algorithm was given.
