Abstract:The chaotic output-cipher feedback mode(OCFM) stream cipher was developed to resist attacks based on chaotic orbits.The chaotic signals were generated based on iterating the piecewise linear chaotic map(PLCM) with a segment number parameter(SNP).Odd bits were used to produce the key streams.After being incorporated,the even bits and ciphers were fed back as the next state of the key stream generator.When the chaotic systems were realized with finite precision,the perturbation approach was applied to remedy the finite precision effect,and the perturbation signal was m-sequence.Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the OCFM cipher is secure and easy to be realized by hardware or software,and that the encryption speed can be adjusted to meet the application requirement at the algorithm level.

Abstract:By combining the one-way coupled chaotic map lattice system with a bit-reverse operation, we construct a new cryptosystem which is extremely sensitive to the system parameters even for low-dimensional systems. The security of this new algorithm is investigated and mechanism of the sensitivity is analyzed. We further apply this cryptosystem to the public channel cryptography, based on "Merkle's puzzles", by employing it both as pseudo-random-number (PN) generators and symmetric encryptor. With the properties of spatiotemporal chaos, the new scheme is rich with new features and shows some advantages in comparison with the conventional ones.

Abstract:In recent years, there has been a surge in new chaos-based cryptographic algorithms, many of which claim to have unusually large keyspaces. Although cryptographic primitives such as symmetric-key ciphers should have a secret keyspace large enough to resist brute force attacks, simply increasing the size of a secret key may not lead to improved security margins. An n -bit key may not necessarily have a keyspace of due to the key scheduling algorithm or how the key is used. In this paper, we cryptanalyse several chaos-based algorithms from the perspective of their key schedules. Our numerical analysis is based on the known-plaintext attack model, Kerckhoff's principle and considers the number representations used for real number computation. Our analysis reveals that the actual security margins for these ciphers are significantly lower, some by a factor of over than what was claimed. We then provide accurate keyspace estimates for these ciphers. Finally, we highlight alternative solutions for how secret keys can be used in the context of chaos-based cryptography and propose a simple key schedule as a proof of concept. Despite its simplicity, the proposed key schedule not only ensures that the keyspace matches the key length but also passes both the NIST and ENT statistical test suites, making it a viable option for generating secure cryptographic keys. Our work contributes towards addressing one of the fundamental problems in chaos-based cryptography that limits its real-world impact and reputation within the cryptographic community.

Abstract:Spatiotemporal chaos of a two-dimensional one-way coupled map lattice is used for chaotic cryptography. The chaotic outputs of many space units are used for encryption simultaneously. This system shows satisfactory cryptographic properties of high security, fast encryption (decryption) speed, and robustness against noise disturbances in communication channel. The overall features of this spatiotemporal-chaos-based cryptosystem are better than chaotic cryptosystems known so far, and also than currently used conventional cryptosystems, such as the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

Abstract:In this paper, a new method for image encryption based on chaotic system is proposed. An unpredictable chaotic sequence is generated by Logistic-map, and its characteristics of pseudo-random and sensitiveness to the initial condition helps to construct transformation matrix for image encryption. And two images are used together to encrypt each other in the proposed method for the sake of higher security. An example is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Designing the key space based on the initial value xi, system parameter ui and coupling coefficient εi (i=1, 2... m, m is the dimension of hyperchaotic system). By theoretical analysis and practical test, the sensitivity of initial value xi is 10-16, the sensitivity of coupling coefficient εi is 10-15, the sensitivity of system parameter ui is 10-13, so the initial value and coupling coefficient are used as the parameters of designing the key space and the total number of the key space in one-dimensional system is 1031. Each node has different initial values and coupling coefficients in m-dimensional CPRS hyperchaotic system, so the total number of key space in m-dimensional system is 10 31*m. The design consists of an "S_Box" algorithm and two different valuing algorithms. The "S_Box" algorithm adopts BKDRHash function due to the Hash function which has minor conflict and make the value distribution uniform in the "S_Box" and two different valuing algorithms obtain the initial value and coupling coefficient desired in the encryption system. The experimental results show that the three algorithms obtaining the values is well distributed and improve the performance of anti-cracking. The Passwords that users input map into different parameters through the key space by which CPRS hyperchaotic system transmitting terminal encrypts and the receiving terminal can be decrypted successfully using the same parameters.

Abstract:An applied spatiotemporal chaotic stream cipher systems, which is easy to extend not only for new applications but also for the improvement of arithmetic, is constructed in this paper. Core arithmetic is configurable to supply drivensync and selfsync, and the spread spectrum is also supplied. The system got a good balance in security, speed and practicability. In voice cryption test, the results in both time domain and frequency domain show good randomness. In addition, this paper use Tent Map instead of Logistic Map in OCOML applied system for the first time.

Abstract:Two-dimensional one-way coupled map lattices are used for cryptograph where multiple space units produce chaotic outputs in parallel. One of the outputs plays the role of driving for synchronization of the decryption system while the others perform the function of information encoding. With this separation of functions the receiver can establish a self-checking and self-correction mechanism, and enjoys the advantages of both synchronous and self-synchronizing schemes. A comparison between the present system with the system of Advanced Encryption Standard, AES, is presented in the aspect of channel noise influence. Numerical investigations show that our system is much stronger than AES against channel noise perturbations, and thus can be better used for secure communications with large noise channel exists in open channels, e.g., mobile-phone secure communications.

Abstract:The construction of cryptographically strong substitution boxes (S-boxes) is an important concern in designing secure cryptosystems. The key-dependent S-boxes designed using chaotic maps have received increasing attention in recent years. However, the key space of such S-boxes does not seem to be sufficiently large due to the limited parameter range of discretized chaotic maps. In this paper, we propose a new key-dependent S-box based on the iteration of continuous chaotic maps. We explore the continuous-valued state space of chaotic systems, and devise the discrete mapping between the input and the output of the S-box. A key-dependent S-box is constructed with the logistic map in this paper. We show that its key space could be much larger than the current key-dependent chaotic S-boxes.

Abstract:The substitution box (S-box) is one of the extremely important components in the design of block cipher. An excellent S-box is necessary for the block cipher algorithm, and its cipher strength directly affects the security of the cipher algorithm. The differential uniformity of the S-box generated by the chaotic system is 10 or 12, which cannot effectively resist differential cryptanalysis. Aiming at the high differential uniformity of the S-box constructed by the chaotic system, a novel efficient S-box construction scheme based on a new chaotic map and permutation is proposed in this paper. In this scheme, the chaotic matrix is generated by a new chaotic map, and then is replaced by permutation sequences to generate S-boxes. Comparative analysis shows that the generated S-boxes have high nonlinearity, low differential uniformity, and satisfy SAC and BIC criteria, which can improve the ability of the algorithm to resist differential cipher attacks and linear cryptographic analysis.

Abstract:Weak key analysis is a key issue in the design of chaotic ciphers. While most of the existing research focusing on the degradation of the chaotic sequences which causes weak keys, we point out that the parameters for which the chaotic sequences do not degrade are still possible to be weak keys. In this paper, we propose a new approach based on the rigorous statistical test to improve the weak key analysis. The weak keys of a specific chaotic cipher are investigated by using our method and a large number of new weak keys are detected. These results verify that our method is more effective. On the other hand, although statistical tests are now widely adopted to test the chaos-based bit sequences, there are few reports of analysis results on the weak keys or weak sequences of chaotic cipher. Thus our work may be helpful for current research on statistical tests of chaotic cipher.

Abstract:The security of encryption algorithm attracts much attention in the information field recently,and many encryption algorithms have been proposed.Include RSA public encryption algorithm and it has been used extensively.Owing to chaotic sequence has several good properties such as pseudo-randomness,and extreme sensitive dependence on initial condition and parameters and so on.So it becomes rich cryptography.In the paper,we study an algorithm which generates a random big number by chaos system,and we implement the method to RSA public encryption algorithm.Finally through experiment demonstrates the proposition is validity,and obtains a good result.

Abstract:A new self-synchronizing stream cipher (SSSC) is proposed based on one-way and nearest neighbor coupled integer maps. Some ideas of spatiotemporal chaos synchronization and chaotic cryptography are applied in this new SSSC system. Several principles of constructing optimal SSSC are discussed, and the methods realizing these principles are specified. This SSSC is compared with several SSSC systems in security by applying chosen-ciphertext attacks. It is shown that our new system can provide SSSC with high security and fairly fast performance.

Abstract:How the variable S-boxes would affect the security of the block cipher was studied and a new block cipher using random variable S-boxes was presented.A new encryption scheme based on such block cipher was put forward： the structure of the original encryption algorithm was kept,the S-box was taken as a variable and variable S-box was used instead of the primary one,which could increase the resistance against those known attacks.The security evaluation proves the scheme secure.Furthermore,a discussion on the improvement about the generation of the S-boxes and structure of the algorithms was given.

Abstract:In traditional block cipher, S-box is used in many algorithms while the S-box is kept unchanged, so that the weakness of S-box can be pre-analyzed. In this paper, an image encryption algorithm, in which S-box is dynamically constructed, based on 3D chaotic cat maps and Chebyshev map is proposed. First, two-dimensional Arnold map is generalized to 3D for designing S-box, and then diffusion process uses sorting method through chaotic sequence generated by Chebyshev map. Finally, after several rounds iteration the encryption process is completed. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the algorithm has large key space, high sensitivity, and high speed. Compared with other algorithms, the proposed algorithm ensures security at the same time keeps faster speed, thus is more suitable for multimedia data encryption.

Abstract:<p>The paper proposes a chaos based image hybrid stream and block encryption algorithm, a key stretching method is implemented to further enhance its security. The random time span sequence and salt sequences are generated by the Logistic-Sine map. The key stretching method repeatedly feeds salt and current intermediate hash value of state variables back into the next round message for hash function simultaneously, and the state variables are extracted from Sprott C through time span sequence, the aim of redundant iterations of Sprott C is to resist side channel attack. After multiple iteration loops, the key stream is generated by Sprott C system to encrypt pixel blocks of the pre-encoded image. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrated the scheme's effectiveness and resistance to all kinds of known attacks.</p>
