Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Jiawei Wuzi Yanzong Particle (JWYP) on treating patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) by neuropsychology and computed tomography (CT). Methods 44 subjects were found with MCI according to the criteria stipulated by the Petereson's, and then randomly divided two groups with double blind and simulation method, one group was treated with JWYP and the other with Ginkgo biloba extract (EGb), each for 3 months, and 20 healthy people were controls. The changes of brain CT and memory ability before and after treating were observed. Results Before treatment, MCI patients has significantly lower scores in memorial quotient (MQ), higher hippocampus index and width of temporal horn than healthy elderly. After treatment, there were remarkable increase of MQ and reduction of hippocampus index and width of temporal horn in JWYP group and EGb group ( P 0.01). Conclusions JWYP is effective in treating patients with MCI.
