Study on Preparation and Heat Treatment Process of Ultrahigh Carbon Steel

Abstract:The characteristics of compositions and pre-heat treatments of ultrahigh carbon steel (UHCS) were studied. Through heating at different temperatures for different times, it is found that the hardness of the (UHCS) can not satisfy normal requirement after quenching to oil because of ultra-fine grain effect. Normalizing at 860℃, the strength and plasticity of the (UHCS) is higher than that of harden and tempered middle carbon alloy steels. It has been tried to prepare (UHCS) and to establish the heat treatment technology for it.
