Abstract:By reviewing bullwhip effect and demand oscillation existing in the Supply Chain Management(SCM),the coordinate issue between inventory cost and Customer Demand Satisfactory(CDS) is discussed.Then,by introducing the Model Predictive Control(MPC) strategy,and the translation of some concepts in process industrial control into the SCM fields,the optimization of supply chain network is successfully realized.Further more,a one-product,three-echelon demand network is modeled and simulated later to analyze its performance in the presence of significant uncertainty,forecast error,and constraints of inventory levels.The result successfully mitigates the bullwhip effect in the supply chain while reducing safety stocks to profitable levels and improving customer demand satisfaction.

Abstract:The establishing a warehouse in core firm and carrying out production,distribution and whole optimization according to the producing rule of the core firm is of vital importance for the vendors supply goods timely.On this condition: continuous and stable needs of the core firm and two-stage distributed warehouse of suppliers,aiming at the timely supply and the lowest total cost,this paper establish a model to optimize the stock and produce strategy.Finally we give an application of this model.

Abstract:Drawing upon three strategies of demand-driven supply chain intelligence, this study examines the effects of three factors of demand-driven supply chain intelligence, including customer knowledge management capability, knowledge sharing, and cooperation, on a JIT supply chain, which is operationalized by production planning, sourcing, and logistics. It also assesses the effect of a JIT supply chain on operational performance. Employing path analysis on the data collected from manufacturing firms, this study offers empirical evidence of the pivotal role of demand-driven supply chain intelligence in achieving a JIT supply chain and its resultant performance implications. The theoretical and practical contributions are addressed.

Abstract:In such a new economic era full of fierce competition, a firm's survival and development depend on innovation especially total innovation. Abstract:There are a lot of research works as well as books written about SCM strategy, but few books are based on strategic theory of management in a pure sense. As a result, theories themselves are shallow and not in depth. In other words, SCM focuses on a strategic area of supply chain activities while, however, there are few books written on a basis of the theoretical or traditional articles of management strategy in a pure sense. The aims of this article are to review the theoretical strategy formulation concepts out of 50 books published in 2004 through 1990 while we had made logistics literature studies in the middle of 1995 with almost same approach and contributed to academic journals in Japan. This type of SCM literature study is a brand new research and the first attempt of research activity in Japan. As a survey result, it has made clear that most of books paid little attention to structural aspects of SCM strategy formulation as a state of art SCM model linked with management strategy theory. Therefore, we have reviewed the contents of SCM strategy written in fifty books and finally proposed our own SCM strategy structure and formulation based on strategic theories extracted from traditional international management theory as well as strategic theory of classical management.

Abstract:Supply chain practices in mature production are widely investigated but little is known about their roles in new product ramp-up. To address this gap, this study specifically investigates the impact of two just-in-time (JIT) supply chain practices (i.e. JIT delivery by suppliers and JIT link with customers) on new product cost and speed-to-market performance. Moreover, the moderating effects of information technology (IT) integration are examined according to organisational information processing theory. After regression analysis with a survey data of 193 firms, the study finds that JIT delivery by suppliers improves cost performance while JIT link with customers increases speed-to-market performance. Moreover, the positive performance effects of JIT delivery by suppliers on cost performance is enhanced by both internal and external IT integration while that of JIT link with customers on speed-to-market performance can only be enhanced by internal IT integration. The theoretical and managerial implications of this study are discussed.

Abstract:Implementing a just-in-time (JIT) inventory management strategy seems to be the latest hot topic in the business world, particularly in manufacturing industries. In today's competitive supply chain environment, more and more companies are either adopting JIT methodology or at least beginning to research and understand how JIT would affect their business. But what exactly is JIT? Many companies may be already putting into practice some of the concepts of JIT – such as looking at always improving or trying to reduce waste in terms of product or labor steps. Some companies may be fully ready to embrace a JIT operating process; yet, perhaps JIT is not the best choice for their business. The goal of this chapter is to develop a better understanding of JIT, from this history behind its inception to the various risks and benefits that relate to adopting JIT from an interdisciplinary/strategic approach to a transdisciplinary viewpoint. Those strategies, which include the basic methods of minimum stock, economic order quantity (EOQ), and Safety stock methods, are explored and explained in this chapter.

Abstract:Just in time (JIT) purchasing method for agile supply chain was analyzed using the just in time philosophy and mathematical model to provide a methodology for purchasing product from cooperative suppliers. The model was translated into linear programming through mathematical deduction. The computational results show that the method makes the planned purchase quantities as close to the order requirements as possible to balance the supply capacity. Thus, it minimizes the total earliness and tardiness penalties.

Abstract:In order to solve the supply chain management by the JIT philosophy, the supply problem with supply capacity and transportation capacity is presented and the model is built. By means of a linear programming model which is solved by common simple method, the heuristic algorithm is given. The presented algorithm can make the planning purchase quantities as near to the orders as possible with the balance of supply capacity and transportation capacity.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the impact of the just-in-time(JIT)practices on manufacturing enterprises operational performance (quality performance, cost performance, flexible performance, and delivery performance), as well as the moderating effect of the relationships between JIT practices and enterprise operations performance under the cost leadership strategy. Then use the 687 manufacturing enterprises data of the international manufacturing strategy survey (IMSS-V) to do hierarchical regression analysis, we study the impact of JIT practices on the enterprises operational performance. The results show that: JIT practices have a positive impact on enterprise operational performance; cost leadership strategy play a moderating role for JIT practices, quality performance and cost performance, the flexible performance and delivery performance do not play the moderate role.

Abstract:Operational innovation is effective in overcoming supply chain challenges and achieving superior performance. In this study, we build on the socio-technical system (STS) perspective to explore operational innovation in the supply chain context. Specifically, a system comprising traceability and supply chain coordination (SCC) is proposed as a type of Internet-based operational innovation. Survey data of manufacturing firms were analyzed by a configuration approach. Three clusters of firms were identified with distinct configurations of traceability and SCC. As predicted by the STS perspective, firms can realize operational innovation by matching traceability and SCC properly, thereby achieving superior operational performance and customer satisfaction. Our findings expand the understanding of operational innovation in the supply chain context. This study contributes to the literature of operational innovation, STS and supply chain management. Managerial implications about operational innovation in Internet-based supply chain management are provided.

Abstract:Based on investigations of 112 Chinese firms and studies on foreign leading corporations, a theoretical framework of dynamic capabilities-based strategy innovation (SI) is put forward. Several large firms in China winning through SI were studied empirically. This paper complements previous publications on the theories of innovation and strategy. This work's findings will be useful for managers interested in our approach, which highlights the importance of SI and focuses on and points out the major pitfalls in the innovation processes. Implementing the dynamic capabilities-based strategy innovation can effectively cultivate and develop core competences of corporations. It is concluded that implementing SI is the only path for Chinese enterprise growth in the intensified competition in the knowledge economy.

Abstract:Because of the cut-throat competition in global economic, Chinese enterprises must completely change their old management ideas and models. Many management theories and methods like dynamic core competencies, collaborative supply chain management (CSCM) and organizational innovation have emerged because of this competition. These just focus on a certain stage of the management process or a particular aspect. These methods should be closely integrated to build what is known as an enterprise management innovation integration model, through which companies can really create enterprise dynamic core competencies (EDCC), and thus maintain long-term competitive advantage. The paper based their analysis on the connotative supply chain management, dynamic core competence and related content. Relationship between supply chain collaboration (SCC) and dynamic core capabilities is put forward, thus some effective ways are proposed to build dynamic core capabilities based on the theory of collaborative supply chain management.

Abstract:This paper reviews and compares the research works of production control strategies in just-in-time production system in the literature. It includes models of different control strategies, various analysis methods, and approaches of determining and allocating kanbans in the production system. We extend the research works for the production system from a tandem configuration to a general configuration that is more complex and consistent with actual production systems. Based on the analysis, four production control strategies are proposed. There have been some new progresses on the issue.
