Abstract:This paper is devoted to the solvability of Markovian quadratic backward s-tochastic differential equations (BSDEs for short) with bounded terminal conditions. The generator is allowed to have an unbounded sub-quadratic growth in the second unknown variable z . The existence and uniqueness results are given to these BSDEs. As an application, an existence result is given to a system of coupled forward-backward stochastic differential equations with measurable coefficients.

Abstract:With the terminal value $\xi^-$ admitting a certain exponential moment and $\xi^+$ admitting every exponential moments or being bounded, we establish several existence and uniqueness results for unbounded solutions of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) whose generator $g$ satisfies a monotonicity condition with general growth in the first unknown variable $y$ and a convexity condition with quadratic growth in the second unknown variable $z$. In particular, the generator $g$ may be not locally-Lipschitz continuous in $y$. This generalizes some results reported in \cite{Delbaen 2011} by relaxing the continuity and growth of $g$ in $y$. We also give an explicit expression of the first process in the unique unbounded solution of a BSDE when the generator $g$ is jointly convex in $(y,z)$ and has a linear growth in $y$ and a quadratic growth in $z$. Finally, we put forward the corresponding comparison theorems for unbounded solutions of the preceding BSDEs. These results are proved by those existing ideas and some innovative ones.

Abstract:Given $p \in (1, 2)$, we study $L^p$-solutions of a multi-dimensional backward stochastic differential equation with jumps (BSDEJ) whose generator may not be Lipschitz continuous in $(y,z)-$variables. We show that such a BSDEJ with a p-integrable terminal data admits a unique $L^p$ solution by approximating the monotonic generator by a sequence of Lipschitz generators via convolution with mollifiers and using a stability result.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to solving a real valued backward stochastic differential equation with jumps where the time horizon may be finite or infinite. Under linear growth generator, we prove existence of a minimal solution. Using a comparison theorem we show existence and uniqueness of solution to such equations when the generator is uniformly continuous and satisfies a weakly monotonic condition.

Abstract:With the test function method and a localization technique, a scalar backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE for short) subject to an L1 terminal condition is shown to have an L1 solution when the generator g(t,y,z) has a one-sided linear growth in y and a logarithmic sub-linear growth in z, which improves some existing results. A new idea to study the existence of an adapted solution to a BSDE is given. When the generator g(t,y,z) additionally has an extended monotonicity in y and a logarithmic uniform continuity in z, we further establish a comparison theorem for the L1 solutions to the above BSDEs, which yields immediately the uniqueness of the solution.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the existence, uniqueness and comparison theorem on unbounded solutions of one-dimensional backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) with sub-quadratic generators, where the terminal time is allowed to be finite or infinite. We first establish existence of the unbounded solutions for this kind of BSDEs with generator $g$ satisfying a time-varying one-sided linear growth in the first unknown variable $y$ and a time-varying sub-quadratic growth in the second unknown variable $z$. Then, the uniqueness and comparison theorem of the unbounded solutions for this kind of BSDEs are proved under a time-varying extended convexity assumption. These results generalized those obtained in \cite{12} to the general time interval BSDEs. Finally, several sufficient conditions ensuring that the uniqueness holds are put forward and verified via some innovative ideas, which are explored at the first time even though for the case of finite time interval BSDEs.

Abstract:We first establish the existence of an unbounded solution to a backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) with generator $g$ allowing a general growth in the state variable $y$ and a sub-quadratic growth in the state variable $z$, like $|z|^\alpha$ for some $\alpha\in (1,2)$, when the terminal condition satisfies a sub-exponential moment integrability condition like $\exp\left(\mu L^{2/\alpha^*}\right)$ for the conjugate $\alpha^*$ of $\alpha$ and a positive parameter $\mu>\mu_0$ with a certain value $\mu_0$, which is clearly weaker than the usual $\exp(\mu L)$ integrability and stronger than $L^p\ (p>1)$ integrability. Then, we prove the uniqueness and comparison theorem for the unbounded solutions of the preceding BSDEs under the additional assumptions that the terminal conditions have sub-exponential moments of any order and the generators are convex or concave in $(y,z)$. Afterwards, we extend the uniqueness and comparison theorem to the non-convexity and non-concavity case, and establish a general stability result for the unbounded solutions of the preceding BSDEs. Finally, with these tools in hands, we derive the nonlinear Feynman-Kac formula in this context.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a scalar linearly growing BSDE with a weakly L^1+-integrable terminal value. We prove that the BSDE admits a solutionif the terminal value satisfies some Ψ-integrability condition, which is weaker than the usual L^p (p>1) integrability and stronger than Llog L integrability. We show by a counterexample that Llog L integrability is not sufficient for the existence of solutionto a BSDE of a linearly growing generator.

Abstract:This paper develops the Euler's polygonal line method for the backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) with super-linearly growing generators. The generators are allowed to be super-linearly growing in the first unknown variable y and sub-quadratic growing in the second unknown variable z when the monotonicity condition is satisfied. The convergence rate of the Euler approximation is derived, which also provides a simple proof for the existence of the solution to the monotone BSDEs. The proof is very simple and short, without involving the conventional techniques of truncating and smoothing on the generators. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:With the terminal value $|\xi|$ admitting some given exponential moment, we put forward and prove several existence and uniqueness results for the unbounded solutions of quadratic backward stochastic differential equations whose generators may be represented as a uniformly continuous (not necessarily locally Lipschitz continuous) perturbation of some convex (concave) function with quadratic growth. These results generalize those posed in \cite{Delbaen 2011} and \cite{Fan-Hu-Tang 2020} to some extent. The critical case is also tackled, which strengthens the main result of \cite{Delbaen 2015}.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the general mean-field backward doubly stochastic differential equations (mean-field BDSDEs) whose generator f can be discontinuous in y. We prove the existence theorem of solutions under stochastic linear growth conditions and also obtain the related comparison theorem. Naturally, we present those results under the linear growth condition, which is a special case of the stochastic condition. Finally, a financial claim sale problem is discussed, which demonstrates the application of the general mean-field BDSDEs in finance.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the existence, uniqueness and comparison theorem on unbounded solutions of a scalar backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) whose generator grows (with respect to both unknown variables y and z) in a super-linear way like |y|| ln | y ||8 + |z|| ln |z||lambda for some 8 epsilon [0, 1] and lambda > 0. Let k be the maximum of 8, lambda + 1/2 and 2 lambda. For the following four different ranges of the growth power parameter k: k = 1/2, k epsilon (1/2, 1), k = 1 and k > 1, we give reasonably weakest possible different integrability conditions on the terminal value for ensuring existence and uniqueness of the unbounded solution to the BSDE. In the first two cases, they are stronger than the L ln L-integrability and weaker than any Lp-integrability with p > 1; in the third case, the integrability condition is just some Lp-integrability for p > 1; and in the last case, the integrability condition is stronger than any Lp-integrability with p > 1 and weaker than any exp(L epsilon)-integrability with epsilon epsilon (0, 1). We also establish three comparison theorems, which yield immediately the uniqueness, when either one of generators of both BSDEs is convex (or concave) in both unknown variables (y, z), or satisfies a one-sided Osgood condition in the first unknown variable y and a uniform continuity condition in the second unknown variable z. Abstract:In this paper, we study the backward stochastic differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion under the condition that the generator is time-varying Lipschitz continuous with respect to y and time-varying uniformly continuous with respect to z. With the help of linearization method and the G-stochastic analysis techniques, we construct the approximating sequences of G-BSDE and obtain some precise a priori estimates. By combining this with the approximation method, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution under the time-varying conditions, as well as the comparison theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with a multidimensional backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) with a general random terminal time $\tau$, which may take values in $[0,+\infty]$. Firstly, we establish an existence and uniqueness result for a weighted $L^p~(p>1)$ solution of the preceding BSDE with generator $g$ satisfying a stochastic monotonicity condition with general growth in the first unknown variable $y$ and a stochastic Lipschitz continuity condition in the second unknown variable $z$. Then, we derive an existence and uniqueness result for a weighted $L^1$ solution of the preceding BSDE under an additional stochastic sub-linear growth condition in $z$. These results generalize the corresponding ones obtained in \cite{Li2024} to the $L^p~(p\geq 1)$ solution case. Finally, the corresponding comparison theorems for the weighted $L^p~(p\geq1)$ solutions are also put forward and verified in the one-dimensional setting. In particular, we develop new ideas and systematical techniques in order to establish the above results.

Abstract:We consider partial differential equations (PDEs) characterized by an upper barrier that depends on the solution itself and a fixed lower barrier, while accommodating a non-local driver. First, we show a Feynman-Kac representation for the PDE when the driver is local. Specifically, we relate the non-linear Snell envelope for an optimal stopping problem, where the underlying process is the first component in the solution to a stopped backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) with jumps and a constraint on the jumps process, to a viscosity solution for the PDE. Leveraging this Feynman-Kac representation, we subsequently prove existence and uniqueness of viscosity solutions in the non-local setting by employing a contraction argument. In addition, the contraction argument yields existence of a new type of non-linear Snell envelope and extends the theory of probabilistic representation for PDEs.
