Abstract:sows nursing 12 litters were used to study t he effects of five dietary protein levels(11.5%,13.8%,15.9%, 18.0% and 20.2%)or five lysine levels(0.61%,0.74%,0.87%,1.0% and 1.12%)respectively on reproductive and foster ing performance, milk yield, plasma urea nitrogen(PUN)and plasma amino acid during a 35d lactation period. The results suggested that with the protein and lysine intake increased, the body weight loss of sows during lactation period decreased(P0.05),The milk yield and litter weight on 20 and 35 dincreased with increased dietary protein or lysine intake (P0.05 or P0.01).The PUN concentration increased linearly with increasing dietary protein(lysine)levels.protein(lysine)levels did not significantly affect the plasma total amino acid content. The best reproductive and lactation performance can be achieved when the sows receive 868g protein and 48.3g lysine daily.
