Abstract:'Tao'(Way or Principle) proclaimed and elucidated by Zhuangzi is clearly expressed in ‘Wuwei-Ziran’(the Acceptance of Natural Order) and relativistic recognition of the truth. Universe is structured with ego and non-ego, as well as subjectivity and objectivity. ‘Wuwei-Ziran’ is at the core of his thoughts. His thoughts are further explained by ‘Wu-wo-yi-ti’(Oneness with Being), ‘Hu-die-zhi -Meng’(Butterfly Dream), and ‘Pao-ding-jie-niu’(Attaining the Perfect Mastery). These ideas come from the idea of ‘Wuwei-Ziran’ and co-exist with one another. The movie, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, people do not accept death and stick to their desire to prolong their lives, which cause the disaster to many people. The movie shows Zhuangzi's ecological idea that people leave things as they are and learn to have a harmonious life with Nature. The movie also shows that all problems come from the earthly desires and that we can come to the higher level if we give up our desires. When Zhuangzi was written, it was the Warring State period. This period was full of power struggles and too many wars, causing too many sufferings to people. In this chaotic situation, Zhuangzi reflected the meaning of life when he saw many convicts and disabled people. This chaotic situation is very similar to our age, in which we live in a fierce competition against others. So we cannot regard Zhuangzi's philosophy as old-fashioned, and Zhuangzi shows similar ideas expressed in several modern this film.
