Social Support to Those Who Take Care of the Old

Abstract:China is facing a sharp increase of the old population, but the old are lack of social support and their families are still the major care source to them. Researches usually focus on the responsibilities and duties of the younger generation to the old as well as the family function in the care and security of the old. Less attention were on the conditions and the need of the care-givers themselves, few discuss how to support the care-givers so that they provide better cares and security to the old. This paper reviews the problems facing the care-givers and holds that it is necessary to set up social support network to the care-givers of the old.
