Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents from leaves of Phyllostachys pubescens. Method Column chromatography on sephadex LH-20 as well as preparative HPLC and spectral analysis were used to isolate and elucidate the constituents. Result Six compounds were isolated from leaves of Phyllostachys pubescens, and identified as vanillin (I), syringic aldehyde (II), p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (III), vanillic acid (IV), syringic acid (V), 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy cinnamic acid, ethyl ester (VI). Conclusion All above the compounds were isolated from the plant for the first time.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation on the stems of Alstonia scholaris (L.) R. Br. led to the isolation and identification of 30 natural products, including sixteen alkaloids (1–16), nine triterpenoids (17–25), two phenols (26–27), and three lignans (28–30). Their structures were established by comprehensive spectroscopic analyses together with the comparison with reported data. Compound 1 was a new indole alkaloid. Compound 24 was firstly isolated from Apocynaceae family, compounds 22–23 and 26–30 were obtained from the genus Alstonia for the first time, and this is the first report of the presence of 11 and 16 in A. scholaris. The chemotaxonomic significance of these isolated compounds was also discussed.
No evidence of endemic infection with Dirofilaria immitis in dogs.

Abstract:Abstract Extract Dirofilaria immitis is periodically recorded in dogs imported from Australia into New Zealand. In this country, environmental conditions are marginal for the transmission of this species, but potential mosquito intermediate hosts are known to be present(1). Development in the intermediate host is temperature dependent, with most reports indicating that a mean temperature of at least 18 °C is required(2)(3)(4). Therefore, the most likely locations in New Zealand for D. immitis to establish are the Auckland region and areas north of this.

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the chemical constituents from roots of Pluchea indica.Methods:Chromatographic methods were applied to isolate pure compounds and their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic data.Results:Twelve compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as squalene(1),1-hydroxy-2,3,4,5-tetramethoxyxanthone(2),syringaresino (3),caffeic acid(4),phloroglucinol(5),3,5-dihydroxy-benzoic acid(6),protocatechuic aldehyde(7),5-hydroxy vanillin(8),gallic acid(9),syringate(10),5,8-epidioxy-(3,5,8,22E)-ergosta-6,22-dien-3-ol(11),adenosine (12).Conclusion:These compounds were isolated from Pluchea indica for the first time and the low molecular weight phenolic acids of them may play ecological role.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the chemical constituents of the leaves of Clerodendrum trichotomum.METHODS:The chemical constituents of petroleum ether extract of the leaves of Clerodendrum trichotomum were isolated and purified by various chromatographic techniques, such as silica gel, ODS, Sephadex LH-20, semi-preparative HPLC and recrystallization. The structures of these isolated compounds were identified by spectroscopic analysis (1 H-NMR,13 C-NMR,2D-NMR and MS).RESULTS:Ten compounds were isolated and identified from petroleum ether extract, containing four triterpenes, lupeol(1), friedelin(2), betulinic acid(3) and taraxerol(4); four sterols, 22-dehydroclerosterol(5), clerosterol(6), stigmasterol(7) and sitosterol(8); one diterpenoid, transphytol(9), and one alkaloid, 1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid(10).CONCLUSION:Compound 10 is obtained from the genus Clerodendrum for the first time, and seven compounds (1,3-4, and 7-10) are firstly isolated from this plant.

Abstract:AIM: Isolation and structural elucidation of the constituents from leaveS of the Chinese medicinal plant Koelreuteria paniculata Laxm. METHODS: The leaves were extracted with 95% EtOH percolation and the crude extracts were purified by using silica gel chromatography. IR, UV, MS, 1H and 13CNMR spectra were employed for structural identification. RESULTS: Three new compounds named ethyl-p-digallate (1), ethyl-m-digallate (2), p-digalloyl acid (3), together with eleven known compounds m-digalloyl acid (4), quercitrin-2″-gallate (5), galloyl acid (6), ethyl galloyl acid (7), ellagic acid (8), quercitrin (9), hyperin (10), kaempferol-3-O-rhamnoside (11), hyperin-2″-gallate (12), β-sitosterol (13) and β-sitosterol 3-O-glucoside (14) were isolated. CONCLUSION: Ethyl-p-digallate (1), ethyl-m-digallate (2) and p-digalloyl acid (3) were new compounds, and 4, 5, 8-12 and 14 were known compounds unreported previously from this plant.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To study the chemical constituents of Artemisia lactiflora Wall.ex DC.METHODS The comepounds were isolated by column chromatography with silica gel,C18 reverse-phase silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,and semi-preparative HPLC,and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis and physicochemical evidences.RESULTS Twelve compounds were isolated from the chloroform layer of ethanol extract of Artemisia lactiflora and identified as 4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)acetophenone(1),loliotide(2),isololiotide(3),isovanillic acid(4),p-hydroxybenzoic acid(5),tran-p-hydroxycinnamic acid(6),trans-p-hydroxycinnamic acid ethyl ester(7),(+)-pinoresinol(8),(+)-medioresinol(9),(+)-syringaresinol(10),4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxy-benzoic acid(11),dihydroisoferulic acid(12).CONCLUSION Compounds 1-12 were isolated from this plant for the first time,and compound 1 was a new natural product,and compounds 4,7,8,12 were isolated from the genus Artemisia for the first time.

The structures were identified by spectral analyses of NMR, MS, et al.RESULT:Thirteen compounds were isolated and identified as 7-hyroxy-5, 4'-dimethoxy flovone (1), 5-hydroxy-7, 4'-dimethoxy flavone (2), luteolin-7-3',4'-trimethyl (3), isocorydine (4), 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (5), triacontenoic (6), hentriacontane (7), alpha-stigmasterol (8), epifriedelanol (9), friedelan (10), friedelin (11), genkwanin (12), 5, 4'-dihyroxy-7, 3'-dimethoxy flovone (13).CONCLUSION:Compound 4 was obtained from this genus for the first time, compounds 1, 6-11, 13 were obtained from this species for the first time.

Abstract:Chemical constituents of the leaves of Canarium album(Lour.)Raeusch were studied.Eight compounds were isolated from ethylacetate extract of the leaf,and their structures were elucidated by various spectroscopic methods.They were identified as ethyl gallate(Ⅰ),scopoletin(Ⅱ),gallic acid(Ⅲ),amentoflavone(Ⅳ),myo-inositol(Ⅴ),quercetin(Ⅵ),β-sitosterol(Ⅶ)and 4,5-didehydro-chebulic acid triethyl ester(Ⅷ).Compound Ⅷ is a novel compound and compounds Ⅴ and Ⅵ were obtained from this genus of plant for the first time.Compounds Ⅳ and Ⅶ were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:The chemical constituents have been isolated from Delphinium tatsienense Franch Var Chinghaiense by column chromatography and preparative thin layer chromatography. The structures of the diterpenoid alkaloids were elucidated by IR, EA, MS, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR as well as DEPT. Six compounds were obtained, among which one is a new ditepenoid alkaloid, four axe known diterpenoid alkaloids and the other is P-sitosterol.

METHOD The compounds were separated by silica gel column chromatography, preparation TLC and reverse phase HPLC, their structures were identified by the spectroscopic methods of UV, NMR and MS. RESULT Seven compounds were isolated from ethyl acetate extract. Their structure were identified as octasulphur (1), secoisolariciresinol dimethyl ether diacetate (2), 5-methoxy-4, 4'-di-O-methyl secolariciresinol (3), chinensinaphthol methyl ester (4), loliolide (5), beta-sitosterol 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (6) and stigmasterol 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (7). CONCLUSION All the compounds except 6 were obtained from the plants of Dicliptera for the first time.

Abstract:The fruits, twigs and leaves of Daphniphyllum oldhamii (Hemsl.) K. Rosenthal, collected from Longshan County, Hunan Province, China, were chemically investigated. Three undescribed daphniphyllum alkaloids, namely longshanoldhamines A‒C, and six known related ones have been isolated from the fruits, whereas two undescribed triterpenoids and one undescribed lignan, along with six known triterpenoids, were found in the twigs and leaves. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis and comparison with the reported data.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To study the chemical constituents of the leaves of Aquilaria sinensis.METHOD:The compounds were isolated and purified by the methods of solvent extraction and chromatographic technique, and their structures were identified on the basis of the analyses of spectral data.RESULT:Thirty-three compounds were obtained. Among them, twelve compounds were identified as 5-hydroxyl-7,4'-dimethoxyflavone (1), acacetin (2), luteolin (3), genkwanin (4), yuankanin (genkwanin-5-O-beta-D-primeveroside, 5), adenosine (6), genkwanin-5-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (7), hypolaetin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (8), hypoxanthine (9), uracil (10), 8-C-beta-D-galactopyranosylisovitexin (11), and 4-(1,2,3-trihydroxypropyl) -2,6-dimethoxyphenyl-1-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (12), respectively.CONCLUSION:All compounds except for 1, 3 and 4 were isolated from the leaves of A. sinensis for the first time.
