Analysis of 404 Patients with Mental Retardation in Anding District of Gansu Province

Abstract:Objective To explore the main reasons in disabled with mental retardation in Anding district of Gansu province,in order to proposed effective measures to prevent mental retardation.Methods During replacing the certificate of disabled in the second period,the Anding district of Gansu province intellectual disabilities group were identified.The sampling methods,mental retardation standards,diagnostic and assessment methods were reference to the second national sampling survey of persons with disabilities related to survey methodology and standards.Results The total of 404 subjects,of which 265 were male gender(65.76%),females 139(34.41%);The distribution by place of residence in rural areas surveyed 343 people(85.11%),61 urban subjects(15.10%).The age of 18 years of age had 133(33.01%),19 to 30 years had 89(22.08%),31 to 40 years had 87(21.53%),41 to 50 years are 65(16.13%),more than 51 years had 30 people(7.44%).Etiology with clear causes had 222(54.95%),182 patients with unclear cause(45.05%),in which the top three causes are respectively convulsive disorders,trauma and lack of newborn blood hypoxic encephalopathy.Conclusion The survey of rural patients with mental retardation is more than urban patients.The period of incidence is in infants and young children.Social should strengthen the health and nutrition education during pregnancy,and prenatal screening,put more attention to labor and delivery process and other aspects of the operation,to improve the health of residents literacy,and to improve the quality of population health.
