Abstract:A design methodology of asymptotically stable observers for a class of discrete Lipschitz nonlinear systems is proposed in this paper. The conditions for the existence of the observer gain is given and the analytic expression of desired observer gain is also presented.

Abstract:Design of a stable adaptive controller and observer for a class of nonlinear systems that contain product Of immeasurable states and unknown parameters is considered. The nonlinear system is cast into a suitable from based on which a stable adaptive controller and observer are designed using a parameter dependent Lyapunov function. The class of nonlinear systems considered is practically relevant; mechanical systems with dynamic friction fall into this category. Experimental results on a single-link mechanical system with dynamic friction are shown for the proposed design.

Abstract:Based on a creative sliding mode prediction model, a novel sliding mode observer (SMO) design method for discrete-time nonlinear uncertain systems is presented in this paper. By combining feedback correction approach, the observer states can close to system states as exactly as possible, and chattering is eliminate simultaneously. Because of the employing of receding horizon optimization technique, the observer compensatory term can be optimized continuously and on-line. The proposed method guarantees the SMO is robustly stable. The satisfying properties of the SMO are verified by a numerical example.

Abstract:We consider three related problems for stabilization of a class of Lipschitz nonlinear systems: (1) full-state feedback controller design, (2) observer design, and (3) output feedback controller design. Sufficient conditions are developed for the design of an exponentially stable linear full-state feedback controller and an exponentially stable nonlinear observer. Given that the sufficient conditions of the controller and observer problem are satisfied, we show that the proposed controller with estimated state feedback from the proposed observer will achieve exponential stabilization. Simulation results on an example are given to numerically verify the proposed designs.

Abstract:Suppose the nonlinear function of hyperchaotic dynamical systems satisfies the Lipschitz condition, the Lyapunov function of the error equation for hyperchaotic system and the observer is constructed, and the stabilization of the observer is discussed for which the observer gain can be given explicitly. The choosing method of observer's parameters is given based on the Lyapunov stabilization theory. Several numerical simulations of hyperchaotic systems show that the observer is effective to observe the hyperchaotic systems.

Abstract:An adaptive functional observer (AFO) for a large class of nonlinear discrete-time systems is proposed. By introducing state transformation, a reduced-order state estimation form is achieved. A slightly modified strong tracking filtering algorithm is used to estimate the reduced-order state vector, which is then used to estimate the nonlinear state function. Sufficient conditions to ensure local asymptotic convergence of the AFO are established. Numerical simulation example reveals the AFO is an adaptive observer with strong tracking properties, which can accurately estimate the unknown time-varying parameters in addition to nonlinear state function.

Abstract:This paper explores the design of Walcott -Zak sliding mode observer (WZSMO) for a class of system satisfying some positive real conditions. A new sufficient and necessary existence condition only involving the original system parameters is proposed to simplify the design of WZSMO. The full freedom degree of the design of nonlinear injection of WZSMO is studied. The fact that the linear feedback can be designed independently is discovered. An optimizing design procedure of the nonlinear injection of SMO is proposed to sub-minimize the control cost of nonlinear injection. At last, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the proposed design procedure. © 2005 AACC.

Abstract:The observer design for nonlinear singular systems is discussed. First, for an index-one nonlinear singular systems, the stability and asymptotical stability with positive semi-definite Lyapunov functions are analyzed. Then, for nonlinear singular systems composed of linear and Lipschitz nonlinear terms, some sufficient conditions are proposed for the existence of asymptotically stable observer system. An algorithm is developed to calculate the observer gain, converting the original problem into admissible control of a linear singular system and the calculation of minimum singular value of the correspondingly closed system. It is proven that if the minimum singular value is greater than the Lipschitz constant of the nonlinear singular system, the admissible controller gain can serve as the observer gain.

Abstract:A novel robust sliding mode observer design method is proposed for a class of uncertain system with model uncertainties. A less conservative design is achieved by dividing the model uncertainties into the matched part and the mismatched part. Based on a canonical form, a directly solvable linear matrix inequality (LMI) is proposed to release the constrained matrix equation causing the difficulty on synthesizing sliding-mode observer in previous results. Furthermore, an optimal design procedure is presented for low control efforts. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by a simulation example.

Abstract:This paper presents an observer design for Lipschitz nonlinear systems with output uncertainty. By means of Lyapunov method as well as linear matrix inequality (LMI), the observer gain matrix is determined and a sufficient condition ensuring the asymptotic stability of the observer is proposed. Abstract:By means of linear matrix inequality (LMI) based Lyapunov method, a nonlinear observer was proposed for a class of Lipschitz nonlinear system with output uncertainty. The observer gain matrix was selected according to LMI with the output uncertainty satisfying Lipschitz conditions. The sufficient condition on ensuring the asymptotic stability of the observer was presented by Lyapunov method. At the same time a calculation method of the maximum Lipschitz constant was obtained. The simulation results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed observer.

Abstract:We consider the problem of state observation for systems having a well-defined observability canonical form (Gauthier and Kupka (2004)) by means of high-gain observers. The main goal is to show that, for this class of systems, observers can be designed with the high-gain parameter powered just up to the order 2 regardless the dimension of the state system. In this way we substantially overtake the main limitations of standard design procedures in which the high-gain parameter is powered up to the order of the system. The observer structure, which generalizes the ideas presented in Astolfi and Marconi (2015), can be used in all those contexts where fast state observation is required, such as in the design of output feedback stabilizers by means of the nonlinear separation principle that is also specifically addressed in the paper.

Abstract:This note considers the problem of observer design for a class of multi-output nonlinear systems. A new state observer design methodology for linear time-varying multi-output systems is presented. Furthermore, we show that the same methodology can be extended to a class of multi-output nonlinear systems. Some sufficient conditions for the existence of the proposed observer are obtained, which guarantee that the error of state estimation converges asymptotically to zero. An example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

Abstract:Observer design is considered for a class of non-linear systems whose non-linear part is energy preserving. A strategy to construct convergent observers for this class of non-linear system is presented. The approach has the advantage that it is possible, via convex programming, to prove whether the constructed observer converges, in contrast to several existing approaches to observer design for non-linear systems. Finally, the developed methods are applied to the Lorenz attractor and to a low order model for shear fluid flow.

Abstract:We study state estimation for nonlinear differential-algebraic systems, where the nonlinearity satisfies a Lipschitz condition or a generalized monotonicity condition or a combination of these. The presented observer design unifies earlier approaches and extends the standard Luenberger type observer design. The design parameters of the observer can be obtained from the solution of a linear matrix inequality restricted to a subspace determined by the Wong sequences. Some illustrative examples and a comparative discussion are given.

Abstract:To observe the statement variables of a class of chaotic dynamical systems, a nonlinear statement observer of the chaotic system was presented. Based on the nonlinear function stem of chaotic dynamical systems satisfying the Lipschitz condition, the Lyapunov function ship of the error statement equation for chaotic system and nonlinear observer was constructed, and the statement observer design method of continuous chaotic dynamical systems was obtained with Lyapunov stabilization theory. After the method for choosing observer's parameters was discussed, the relationship of the observer control parameters and convergence rate were studied, and Duffing Equation and Lorenz chaotic dynamical system were taken as the examples. The simulation results show that nonlinear observer can track the statement variables of the chaotic dynamical system and rapidly realize estimation of the statement variables of chaotic systems.

Abstract:For a class of uniformly observable nonlinear multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) systems with unknown parameters in both state and output equations, an adaptive observer is designed in a constructive manner based on the techniques of high gain observer and adaptive estimation. The high gain adaptive observer for joint state and unknown parameter estimation is conceptually simple. The new algorithm makes use of a time varying gain matrix for unknown parameter estimation, which simplifies the initialization and parameter tuning. In order to establish the global exponential convergence of the adaptive observer, a persistent excitation condition is required. Consequently, the global exponential convergence for simultaneous estimation of states and unknown parameters is formally established following a simple procedure. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the performance of this adaptive observer.

Abstract:The problem of observer design for a class of nonlinear discrete-time systems with time-varying delay is considered. A new approach of nonlinear observer design is proposed for the class of systems. By using Lyapunov's stability theory and Schur complement lemma, the novel sufficient conditions that guarantee the observer error converge asymptotically to zero are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Abstract:This paper investigates observer design for a class of one-sided Lipschitz descriptor systems with time-varying delay and uncertain parameters. In order to provide a general framework for large-scale systems, the paper considers uncertainties, nonlinearities, disturbance and time-varying delay at both output and state. By constructing Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional, and using the one-sided Lipschitz condition and the quadratic inner-boundedness inequality, we establish the sufficient condition which guarantees that the observer error dynamics is asymptotically stable, and the proposed observer ensures the L_2 gain bounded by a scalar γ . Then, we change the condition into a strict matrix inequality condition. Furthermore, based on the obtained results, we establish the linear matrix inequality-based condition to ensure the asymptotically convergence of state estimation error and to accomplish robustness against L_2 norm bounded disturbances by utilizing change of variables. We propose the computing method of observer gain. Finally, a simulation example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
