Effect of Mucoid Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Alginate on Immunocyte

Abstract:OBJECTIVETo investigate the mechanisms involved in the evasion of host defense by Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms. METHODSThe functions of neutrophil and lymphocyte were determined by locomotion test, chemiluminescence test and lymphocyte transformation test. RESULTS Neutrophil locomotion, chemiluminescence and lymphocyte transformation were significantly reduced by 5 μg/ml P. aeruginosa alginate by 10.57%, 22.33% and 25.70%. CONCLUSIONS The inhibition of P. aeruginosa alginate on immunocyte is connected closely with the evasion of host defense by P. aeruginosa biofilms.
