Abstract:Automatic extraction of data dependencies or regularities from historical data is of great importance in practice. Concept lattice could serve as a common framework for such tasks. To deal with two typical kinds of data dependencies, attribute implications and association rules, this paper presents the de?nitions of intent reducts and approximate intent reducts, as the theoretical foundation for extracting these two kinds of knowledge. Algorithms for calculating them are developed. We also given out the methods for extracting attribute implications and association rules. The results provide a better understanding of attribute implications, association rules, and concept lattices.

Abstract:A decision formal context combined with two formal contexts is introduced based on studying partial ordered structures in concept lattices.Equivalent relations and consistent meet relations on sets of extension are discussed.By these analysis,approaches to rule acquisitions and attribute reductions on a decision formal context are established.Meanwhile,different kinds of attributes which play different roles during rule acquisitions are distinguished.Characters and judgment theorems of core attributes existing in any reductions and unnecessary attributes not existing in any attribute reductions are given.These approaches lay basis for heuristic algorithms of rule acquisitions in concept lattices.

Abstract:In order to reduce knowledge reasoning space and improve knowledge processing efficiency, a framework of distributed attribute reduction in concept lattices is presented. By employing the idea similar to that of the rough set,the characterization of core attributes,dispensable attributes and unnecessary attributes are described from the point of view of local formal contexts and virtual global contexts.A determinant theorem of attribute reduction is derived.Based on these results,an approach for distributed attribute reduction is presented.It first performs reduction independently on each local context using the existing approaches,and then local reducts are merged to compute reducts of global contexts.An algorithm implementation is provided and its effectiveness is validated.The distributed reduction algorithm facilitates not only improving computation efficiency but also avoiding the problems caused by the existing approaches,such as data privacy and communication overhead.

Abstract:One of the key problems of knowledge discovery is knowledge reduction. Concept lattice is an effective tool for data analysis and knowledge processing. The existing works on attribute reduction in concept lattice have mainly been focused on static database. This paper presents an incremental approach to identify reductions from dynamic database. The properties of attributes are discussed within the framework of equivalence classes and the determinant theorem of attribute reduction is presented. Based on the theorem, the reductions can be easily derived. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of the approach.

Abstract:Rough set theory and formal concept analysis are two complementary mathematical tools for data analysis. In this paper, we study the reduction of the concept lattices based on rough set theory and propose two kinds of reduction methods for the above concept lattices. First, we present the sufficient and necessary conditions for justifying whether an attribute and an object are dispensable or indispensable in the above concept lattices. Based on the above justifying conditions, we propose a kind of multi-step attribute reduction method and object reduction method for the concept lattices, respectively. Then, on the basis of the defined discernibility functions of the concept lattices, we propose a kind of single-step reduction method for the concept lattices. Additionally, the relations between the attribute reduction of the concept lattices in FCA and the attribute reduction of the information system in rough set theory are discussed in detail. At last, we apply the above multi-step attribute reduction method for the concept lattices based on rough set theory to the reduction of the redundant premises of the multiple rules used in the job shop scheduling problem. The numerical computational results show that the reduction method for the concept lattices is effective in the reduction of the multiple rules.

Abstract:To address the lattice size exponential explosion problem in large scale data and rule mining, concept coverage density function and measurement model are introduced to reduce redundant concepts. The pruned lattice, named marked-concept Lattice, has linear space complexity and can be obtained through direct or synchronous construction or node-extraction. Analysis and simulation tests show that this reduction model not only significantly reduces normal concept lattice size, but also significantly improves lattice building and rule mining efficiency. Furthermore, marked concept carries crucial information and physical meanings, thus can make benefits for Web service relationship mining.

Abstract:Formal concept analysis, which is based on formal contexts and concept lattices, is a data analysis method. Formal concepts reflect the relationship between objects and attributes and realize a formal description of concepts in philosophy. To simplify the information description, this paper proposes concept reduction in the formal concept analysis framework and studies the related theories on concept reduction preserving binary relations. In addition, characteristics analysis of three types of concepts that play different roles in reduction processing is performed from the perspective of operators and a Boolean matrix. Finally, a method to calculate concept reduction is provided.

Abstract:Formal concept analysis is a widely studied mathematical tool for performing data analysis and processing. Three-way decision is a model of decision making based on human cognition, which decomposes the problem to be solved into three elements and then reprocesses them. Hesitant fuzzy sets use some possible values instead of one, which can reflect the hesitation and uncertainty of the decision makers. This paper combines the three elements together for the first time and proposes a hesitant fuzzy three-way concept lattice model, which not only extends the concept lattice model but also provides a new way to deal with imprecise data. Firstly, the hesitant fuzzy three-way concept lattice model is proposed and the related properties are investigated. Further, two methods of constructing the hesitant fuzzy three-way concept lattice are studied, and the related construction algorithms are given. Thirdly, the attribute reduction based on the hesitant fuzzy three-way concept lattice is proposed, and a heuristic reduction algorithm is given. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms for constructing the hesitant fuzzy three-way concept lattice is verified through some experiments, and the efficiency of the algorithm is compared.

Abstract:Three-way concept analysis in incomplete contexts lays the theory dealing with the data in incomplete contexts, especially three kinds of partially known formal concepts including SE-ISI formal concept, ISE-SI formal concept and ISE-ISI formal concept. Generally speaking, not every attribute is essential in an incomplete context since the purpose of research is different. Thus, we propose four kinds of attribute reduction of SE-ISI concept lattices based on different criteria. Then, we discuss the relationships among the four kinds of attribute reduction, including the relationships among the consistent sets and relationships among the reducts. Finally, based on discernibility matrices and discernibility functions, the approaches to obtaining these attribute reduction are presented.

Dynamic Reduct Research Based on Rough Set Theory

Abstract:In this paper we propose a new dynamic reduct algorithm based on rough sets theory. When the number of the object in the information table increase, instead of treating the changed information table as a new one and finding the reduct again like rough set reduct algorithm does, the dynamic reduct algorithm just update the old reduct set based on the increased objects, so the computation time is greatly saved. Also the entropy criterion is introduced to the dynamic reduct algorithm, so the statistical causality between the attributes could be find and the reduct′s sensitivity to the noise unavoidably when the \$γ\$ criterion is applied could be removed. An illustrated example shows that by the dynamic reduct algorithm, computation time is greatly saved compared with the rough set theory based reduct algorithm, at the same time the same reduct is find with less objects, furthermore the results are sorted according to their causal strength.

Abstract:Attribute and size reductions are key issues in formal concept analysis. In this paper, we consider a special kind of equivalence relation to reduce concept lattices, which will be called local congruence. This equivalence relation is based on the notion of congruence on lattices, with the goal of losing as less information as possible and being suitable for the reduction of concept lattices. We analyze how the equivalence classes obtained from a local congruence can be ordered. Moreover, different properties related to the algebraic structure of the whole set of local congruences are also presented. Finally, a procedure to reduce concept lattices by the new weaker notion of congruence is introduced. This procedure can be applied to the classical and fuzzy formal concept analysis frameworks.

Abstract:The Expressive Language ALCNHR+(D) provides conjunction, full negation, quantifiers, number restrictions, role hierarchies, transitively closed roles and concrete domains. In addition to the operators known from ALCNHR+, a restricted existential predicate restriction operator for concrete domains is supported. In order to capture the semantic of complicated knowledge reasoning model, the expressive language ALCNHR+K(D) is introduced. It cannot only be able to represent knowledge about concrete domain and constraints, but also rules in some sense of closed world semantic model hypothesis. The paper investigates an extension to description logic based knowledge reasoning by means o f decomposing and rewriting complicated hybrid concepts into partitions. We present an approach that automatically decomposes the whole knowledge base into description logic compatible and constraints solver. Our arguments are two-fold. First, complex description logics with powerful representation ability lack effectively reasoning ability and second, how to reason with the combination of inferences from distributed heterogeneous reasoner.

Abstract:Concept Lattice is a powerful tool for data analysis, which reveals the generalization/specification relationships between concepts in a vivid and concise way by a Hasse diagram. A concept lattice is built from data sets through the process of concept clustering. The concept lattice can be used in many other machine learning tasks, such as classification or association rule mining. This paper first introduced basic notions of concept lattice, then discussed several lattice construction methods and corresponding rule extraction algorithms and applications. Several concept lattice based systems were outlined briefly. This paper also describes topics such as lattice pruning and the relationship between concept lattice and rough sets.

Abstract:Three-way concept lattices (TCLs) have been widely explored due to their clear hierarchical structures, concise visual description and good interpretability. In contrast to classic formal contexts, lattice-valued fuzzy contexts exhibit great capability in describing and representing concepts with uncertainty. Different from conventional approaches to research of TCLs, this paper focuses on investigating the algebraic structure and properties of three-way concept lattice (TCL) stemmed from the positive concept lattice and negative concept lattice in a lattice-valued formal context. Several associated concept lattices such as the Cartesian product of positive concept lattice and negative lattice (i.e., pos-neg lattice), lattices induced from the partition of the pos-neg lattice, and their relationship are explored. Specifically, the isomorphism, embedding and order-preserving mappings between them are built. The quotient set of pos-neg lattice when being defined a specific equivalence relation on it is a complete lattice and each equivalence class is a lower semi-lattice. It is further declared that the structure of TCL is intrinsically and determined wholly by the pos-neg lattice. A practical application of the built theory of TCL is provided to sort alternatives in multi-criteria decision making.

Abstract:Attribute reduction is one basic issue in knowledge discovery of information systems. In this paper, based on the object oriented concept lattice and classical concept lattice, the approach of attribute reduction for formal contexts is investigated. We consider attribute reduction and attribute characteristics from the perspective of linear dependence of vectors. We first introduce the notion of context matrix and the operations of corresponding column vectors, then present some judgment theorems of attribute reduction for formal contexts. Furthermore, we propose a new method to reducing formal context and show corresponding reduction algorithms. Compared with previous reduction approaches which employ discernibility matrix and discernibility function to determine all reducts, the proposed approach is more simpler and easier to implement.

Abstract:In this paper we present a novel approach to the concept approximations in concept lattice. Using the similar idea of rough set theory and unique properties of concept lattice, upper and lower approximations of any object or attribute set can be found by exploiting meet-(union-)irreducible elements in concept lattice, the approximations can be performed on the fly. We show that our approach is more natural and effective than existing approach.

Abstract:Building whole concept lattice from database is a computing intensive operation in most cases. Sometimes people need only to find certain node in concept lattices. A novel approach to compute lattice node from database without generating the whole concept lattice is presented. Given a set of objects or attributes, by exploiting unique properties of concept lattice, it is are able to find the matching node, its parent nodes and children nodes in concept lattice directly. This avoids computing and memory burden brought by lattice generation, and it is useful in concept lattice application in large data sets.

Abstract:This paper has taken into advantage the relationship between Fuzzy Relation Equations (FRE) and Concept Lattices in order to introduce a procedure to reduce a FRE, without losing information. Specifically, attribute reduction theory in property-oriented and object-oriented concept lattices has been considered in order to present a mechanism for detecting redundant equations. As a first consequence, the computation of the whole solution set of a solvable FRE is reduced. Moreover, we will also introduce a novel method for computing approximate solutions of unsolvable FRE related to a (real) dataset with uncertainty/imprecision data.
