Abstract:Objective:To explore the characteristic of lipoprotein lipase polymorphism and its relationship with plasm lipids in patients with premature coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods:One hundred and six patients with documented premature CHD (Group A) and 81 persons without CHD (Group B) were participated in this study. By using polymerse chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism, P and H alleles status of the LPL gene were determined and fasting lipid values were compared between two groups. Results: Group A had higher levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and had lower level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ( P 0. 05). There had higher frequencies of P+ and H+ alleles in Group A than those in Group B. Compared with individuals with H + H- and P-P- allele, patients with H + H+ genotype had higher levels of TC and TG and lower HDL-C, and individuals with P + P + genotype had higher level of TG and lower level of HDL-C. Conclusion:Patients with premature CHD have higher levels of serum total TC, TG and LDL-C, higher frequencies of P+ and H+ alleles and lower level of HDL-C. P + P+ and H+H+ genotypes may influence the level of plasm lipids.
